Ye Olde Cribbage Club

I'm a huge fan of Cribbage, and this game has a lot of charm going for it. But the rules of Cribbage in this game are just plain wrong. High card deals and flushes not being counted correctly are a couple of examples. This makes it unbearable to play when you actually know the rules of the game.

Finally a dedicated Cribbage game. It works. There are some flaws but it is usable. First thing it needs fixing is cutting the deck. Low card goes first, not high card. The ability to kill the music but not the rest of the volume would be on my wish list. I'd also like to see the ability to count my own cards but also allow for muggins. Overall I recommend this simple game because I love Cribbage. I do hope it continues to be developed and tweaked.

Wish there was a little more to the game. Achievements, story, something to work towards, etc. However the game does play a functional game of cribbage. Main flaw though When cutting for deal. the LOW card gets the deal and not the high card. Hopefully this will be patched soon.

A cute and fun cribbage game. A plus is you do your own scoring, so you have to know what you are doing. I do wish it had achievements or some goal to work towards and multiplayer would be nice, so I could play my friends on-line. The only other issue I see is that LOW card should go first, not high. But I can live with that. But it is a nice game and for $3.50 on sale, well worth it.

Interesting thing about computer card games is that they are all rigged. You will notice patterns during game play. Like this game consistently turning up the same number card you just threw in your opponent's crib. Or the fact that the opponent tends to keep 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9's in their hands. Things like that. BTW, I didn't notice a difference in gameplay between the easiest and hardest settings. Cards are cards, and the cardplay is the same no matter the level. It all depends on the "Luck" the game gives your opponent. How is it that your opponent almost always keeps cards in their hand, that no person alive would keep, and they peg on you greatly--even on easy level and yet have no points in their hand? How do I know the AI isn't cheating. Why does the AI always waits till I toss my cards, then it tosses its cards! CHEAT!!! RIGGED!!!!!

Pleasant game, and nice variations in moderate chat from the characters. The AI for Cribbage play is not great. It looks very much to me as though someone read the rules from a book but didn't actually play much. If a player skunks their opponent that *should* mean double points - but that doesn't happen. There's a Cribbage joke that if you score 19 you score zero, because 19 is an impossible Cribbage score. No sign of that either. But despite that, it's a pleasant enough game, and the AI is easy to beat even on its hardest setting "NO MERCY".

A fun way to jazz up a cribbage app, really; the characters aren't overwhelming and the card animation is solid. It's not wildly challenging--I play each game on the hardest setting and I've only lost one so far--but when you don't have a real cribbage partner around, this definitely beats playing a faceless computer.
