Yafti is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro pixel platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. It's a particularly lazy, badly slapped together platformer with an 8-bit "castle" theme that doesn't really work well. I mean, it might have looked impressive in 1981. It's not 1981. Gameplay is the usual dodge the monsters, find keys, unlock gates, get to the exit style puzzle platforming, only worse than most. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The controls and game handling are notably very floaty and imprecise. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gamer will tell you, the handling, responsiveness and general gameplay feel of the control scheme must be well polished for this kind of game to succeed. Unfortunately, this is something the developer seems to have phoned in, with little to no apparent gameplay testing or polish done. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Yafti is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/488580/Hover_2030/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/372210/Spooky_Cats/
Yafti, developed and published by Russpuppy, is a compact indie platformer that embraces the fundamentals of classic 2D side-scrolling design while incorporating a creative twist through its built-in level editor. At first glance, it presents itself as a straightforward run-and-jump adventure set within a castle filled with hostile creatures and environmental hazards. However, beneath its minimalist exterior lies a game that attempts to balance nostalgic challenge with player-driven creativity. The core gameplay revolves around precision platforming. Players must navigate through stages populated with spikes, enemies, and narrow pathways that demand careful timing and deliberate movement. Success depends heavily on mastering the controls and understanding momentum, as jumps often require accurate spacing and reaction speed. The difficulty curve leans toward being demanding rather than forgiving, which can create a satisfying sense of accomplishment when clearing tricky sections. At the same time, this precision-focused design may feel punishing to players who prefer smoother, more forgiving platform mechanics. Enemy placement and level layouts emphasize hazard avoidance over combat depth. While adversaries exist throughout the stages, the primary challenge stems from environmental traps and spatial puzzles rather than complex battle systems. The design encourages players to observe patterns, anticipate movement timing, and carefully plan their approach. This approach reinforces the game’s old-school inspiration, where memorization and practice play significant roles in progression. One of Yafti’s most notable features is its integrated level editor. Players are not limited to the developer-created stages; they can design and build their own courses using the provided tools. This feature significantly expands the game’s potential longevity. Creative users can construct intricate obstacle sequences, experiment with enemy arrangements, and challenge others to attempt their creations. While the size of the community may limit the volume of shared content compared to larger platforming franchises, the editor introduces a sandbox-like element that distinguishes Yafti from many small-scale indie platformers. Visually, Yafti adopts a simple pixel-art aesthetic. The environments and characters are clean and functional, prioritizing clarity over elaborate detail. This minimalist style aligns with the gameplay’s focus on precision, ensuring that hazards and platforms remain easy to distinguish. The soundtrack and sound effects support the experience without dominating it, maintaining a straightforward presentation that complements the retro-inspired design. In terms of reception, Yafti occupies a niche space within the indie platforming scene. Players who appreciate challenging, mechanically focused platformers may find its design rewarding, especially when engaging with the level editor to create personalized challenges. Others may perceive the controls and presentation as somewhat rough around the edges compared to more polished genre entries. Its appeal largely depends on one’s tolerance for precise movement mechanics and interest in user-generated content. Ultimately, Yafti stands as a modest but earnest homage to traditional platforming. It offers demanding gameplay rooted in timing and control mastery while providing creative freedom through its stage-building tools. Though it may not redefine the genre or compete with high-profile releases, it delivers a focused experience that will resonate with players who enjoy minimalist design and hands-on level creation within a classic 2D framework. 操作非常离谱,基本必须只能按设计好的路径走才可以过,自由度极其低。
игра топ за 3 гривны
This is a game of all time.
Yafti is a pretty simple platformer, as you probaby guessed by the trailer. At one dollar, the game is pretty cheap. Yafti doesn't really have anything unique, its a solid platformer, but theres nothing super unique. There are some wizards, but they suck at wizarding and only know the spell "dropping a waterbottle on the floor and then freezing it" The controls are really smooth, and despite the fact you can't buffer, moving around each level is actually fun The character design makes no sense, hes trapped in a medieval castle, trying to save a king with his pirate buddy, all while wearing loafers, cargo pants, and a t-shirt. I don't recall seeing a typo throughout the entire game, that being said, the plot is pretty plain. You need to escape the dungeon, you need to save the king, and that's the entire plot. I noticed people saying this game was difficult, I think its moderately tough, especially because this might be the only game outside of Geometry Dash that I have seen to have a frame perfect, but that singular frame perfect is in a 10 second level. In general I dont think this is a difficult platformer. To summarize, this game is worth it because despite its flaws, it is a solid platformer and its only a dollar. But don't expect anything more from it.
