About
In Wrangle Ranch, you’ll have to frantically lasso your farm animals as they dash across the screen, being careful to avoid predators. This uniquely addicting minute-to-minute gameplay is paired with the endless replay-ability and deep strategy of a roguelike deckbuilder to create a first of its kind barn-builder roguelike!
Drawing inspiration from the likes of Fruit Ninja and Balatro, this genre-bending score-a-thon will have you playing just ‘one more round’ until the cows come home. Explore countless game breaking boons, over a dozen unique animals, and plenty of powerful farmers all for a wallet-friendly price of just $6.
If you still aren’t convinced, perhaps the quaint hand drawn pixel art, super catchy bluegrass soundtrack, or the sad pleading eyes of the farm animals will be enough to seal the deal! Lasso your livestock, build your barn, climb the difficulty levels and see how long you can survive in Wrangle Ranch!

Strategic roguelike game - mix of roguelike mechanics with farming simulator. You need to survive 15 days by meeting the minimum point criteria. Shop has 1 reroll per day and it costs gold. There are 8 farmers to unlock with different starting animals and builds to use. In the shop, you are offered 3 boons, 3 animals or predators to add, and various upgrades on animals that increase point values, cash, and multipliers if it applies. Challenge rounds add modifiers to the level such as the killer bees that will sting farm animals and predators, removing them from the level.
Pros:
- Pixel art is reminiscent of farming games like Stardew Valley. - Finding the crazy point builds is fun and will allow player to survive more days into endless mode. I got over 1 billion points before day 65, which is insane. - Runs are relatively quick at around 20 minutes since each day is 45 seconds long and there are no long animations or extended loading times. - Game can run on older computers.
Cons:
- Lacking some menu/UI options that will make the gameplay smoother. I suggest adding restart button and exit game button on the pause menu. - Progression is limited to unlocking new farmers after meeting a specific condition such as winning with more predators in deck than animals.
Suggestions:
- Add more challenge rounds and/or other modes for more variety. - Add 2-3 new predators for more combos with Toni Pepperoni farmer. - Add summary screen at end of each run showing most valuable boon and farm animal. - Add more music tracks besides the McDonald farmer one. Challenge rounds have their own tracks, but would be nice to have more than 1 main song. - The point notification blocks the player's view of the animals. I suggest moving it to the bottom left corner since the animal is nearing the exit and player would have more time to lasso if needed. - Don't offer boons for animals that you don't currently own especially on lower difficulties. Makes rerolls more useful, but you are limited to 1 reroll per day. - Add a lock boon option. It feels bad when need a certain boon for your build, but you lack the cash to buy it on the round it appears in the shop. Conclusion: An amusing farm game with roguelike elements and is a bang for your buck at $5.99. I wish there was more progression between runs besides unlocking new farmers. Endless mode is where your crazy combos result in huge numbers. Anyone that likes games with animals and catchy music will enjoy it and you can try the demo. I can't believe MacDonald actually had a ranch instead of a farm... My whole life was a lie.
Didn't think there was much going on at first but now I'm hooked (or lassoed...)
a really interesting and fresh take on the "numbers go up" style of roguelike! Interesting strategy and deckbuilding opportunities on top of a fun and engaging gameplay experience.
The Demo was 10/10 and the full release was 10/10. have I beat the game, no, but I will continue to play it to procrastinate homework.
As is, I do not recommend this game. I actually really enjoyed the demo, but with the full release they have made the gameplay incredibly unfun. You rely way too heavily on RNG now. You want to go a fun build? use a weird animal? Better hope you find one of the very few perks that help, and only when you may finally have enough money for them. The lasso is not well defined. I can at one point catch a pig because I touched its hoof with the lasso's outer edge, but then cant catch a pig later when, cause I accidentally cut out its snout with my lasso. Predator spawn rates are really bad too. It is impossible to have NO predators in your deck, which is fine. However the issue is that I can have 3 bears in my deck, and during a regular run with no modifiers spawn 32 bears. I remove 2 of the bears, and the next run also with no modifiers spawned 29. Why that is even possible makes no sense what so ever.
What a great game, I love how different styles of builds play and the difficult choices of how to manage your money. Just the right level of twitch skills too.
Very chill yet engaging enough not to be mindless(until you make your wrangle-the-entire-screen broken build of course, but that's the point in these games!). For the price it's an absolute steal and the soundtrack gets stuck in your head(in a good way).
On my first run I was able to lock into a great dog + horse combo, added a boar as my 2nd predator. Lassoed a boar and 2 horses. Gained -1,000,000 points. So excited to play more! If you liked pokemon ranger, you'll love this game!
