About
You are the only one stopping an alien invasion... and loving every second of it! In this remake of 2014's Wrack, play as Kain as you shoot, slash, and hyperblast your way through a horde of invading aliens and robots to keep your planet safe.

Kill Streaks: Rack up kill after kill to earn a kill streak! The more damage you pump into an enemy, the more extreme its death, and the more time you have to keep your streak going.
Resets: Kill enemies a second time by exploding their corpse into giblets to reset your timer! Use your current weapon(s), or your melee attack to slice a corpse to bits.
Fast Movement: Use your fast movement speed and abilities, like a super jump, to evade enemy attacks, and find secrets and treasure!
Bosses: When you're done racking up a huge kill streak, duke it out with minibosses and bosses... and put your skills to the test!

New Weapons: Expand your arsenal with the addition of the gloogun, SMG, and railgun! (The Pulsar will return...) In addition, all weapons now have an alternate fire giving you a richer, more in-depth experience.
Hyperblasts: Build them up by dealing damage, and then unleash your powerful hyperblasts to take down tough enemies, or wipe out groups of weak ones!
Unreal Engine: Wrack has been remade in Unreal Engine 4, to give you the most optimized, high-fidelity experience possible.

Wrack has never been more fun than this. This is easily the definitive version of the game, and even if you've already played the original, this is well worth a shot.
Overall improvement on original. "Feel" of combat/movement is good, nice punch from the kills, worth checking out for shooter fans. Not sure I like the save system, but it doesn't frustrate. Miss the hell out of Bobby Prince's soundtrack from the original, wish there was an option to shift between them, but that's probably a rights issue. New soundtrack is alright, growing on me. Will probably noodle on this one on and off.
Really fun game. The level and enemy designs kind of vaguely remind me of Mega Man mixed with Quake which is an excellent combo in my opinion. This is a pretty standard boomer shooter with an arsenal of 7 weapons that cover all the archetypes you'd expect in a game like this; shotgun, rocket launcher, machine guns etc. There's a hyperblast mechanic where if you chain your kills fast enough, you'll get a super powered shot that you can use on the weapon of your choice and it's pretty fun to use when you start getting the hang of this game. Level designs are good, fairly linear with branching paths here and there and tons of secrets full of goodies. I definitely recommend this game if you're a fan of boomer shooters, it's worth the price.
Neat!
As someone who really loved playing the original Wrack as a kid This feels like the definitive version of the game, its really fun and the new additions to combat are really addictive!!!
EXCELLENT game. Glad they opted not for the pixel graphics and made this still play old school. The comic look and the action text is super fun. The sword mechanics are a great idea. Think of it like a light sword that is offensive and defensive in deflecting blasts back to enemies. Controls are tight and the user interface is thoughtful from the standpoint of the player. Best of breed and excels on all the core competencies that they set out for. A shame not more fans of this genre are not taking advantage of this sweet gem.
I was a big fan of the original 2014 Wrack with its simple but addictive mechanics and tight gameplay, it was rough but charming and had a decent amount of replayability. Reclamation is Wrack but more refined and better in almost every way. The combo system now has a bit more depth to it where you can use finishers but keep your chains going, weapons have an alternate fire allowing for more options during combat and the game just feels tighter all around. Weapons being required to be reloaded felt strange at first but I quickly came around to it as it forces you to switch things up on the fly and not just depend on certain weapons more than others like in the original. Only major problem is the game seems to have some visual issues with smoke effects mostly noticable in the sewer levels where enemies can become hard to see even up close. The pacing also gets interupted somewhat often with short cutscenes for mid stage bosses which are short but feel completely pointless for the pace this game is trying to go for. The new soundtrack also isn't awful but Bobby Prince's work on the original Wrack was fantastic. Overall though I absolutely recommend Wrack Reclamation if you're a fan of fast paced arcade shooters and want something a little different.
Played this for a while to give it a good chance, but this is hard to recommend. I have played quite a lot of shooters and this is solid at times, but also very frustrating to play. It is a decent looking FPS, that visually reminds me a bit of XIII. Very vibrant colours, and it runs well. However, gameplay is a bit mixed. The game encourages kill streaks but you get punished quite a bit for trying to play fast and keep the streaks going. Manual check pointing at a cost, which is fine, but sometimes you can get very easily killed and it is just annoying. It feels like some of the kill boxes aren't even your fault - the game wants you to die. For example, level 3 had a few heavy robots at the top of an elevator (they can take about 60% of your health off in one attack). Health is generous enough, just not sure it's been play tested all that much in spots. Also, the sword is billed as the main weapon but I found the play style boring. It feels conflicted as game, doesn't quite know what it wants to be. I was happy to have given it a go but I am also happy with the extra hard drive space on my Steam Deck.
The game gave me nostalgic feelings. It felt like playing Unreal Tournament 2004 when I was younger, but as single player. I really like the visuals and the juice the game has! I also really like the difficulty (played on Hardcore) with almost instant retries on the harder parts. Totally recommend for fast shooter fans!
Amazing game, very fun to play :D
