Good art-game for a cheap price. You have not much to do in the game, just walking and watching. Check my video of two walks through the game. https://youtu.be/C69ADoWNDAg
Fun game to play around on!

REVIEW #116 Womb Room ---------- Womb Room has an interesting basic concept that could've resulted in a fun casual game, but this title is currently in a mostly non-functional state that will probably never be fixed. However, even when it was functioning properly years ago, other Steam reviews indicate that there really wasn't anything noteworthy or looking into here. The idea of Womb Room is to follow a person's life through the stages between birth and death, read funny text, rinse and repeat. Unfortunately, the text that describes what's happening in each stage is not displaying. Discussions on Steam forums suggest that the program is trying to pull the text from an online source that is no longer operating, resulting in every bit of dialog saying "NULL". There are things that you can still do in the game, like choose random doors to walk through to move on to the next stage or pick up items and take them with you. However, it's almost impossible to tell if these actions make a difference and what exactly the difference is because of the lack of text. Perhaps a simple patch would fix this issue, but according to other Steam users, this problem has existed for years, and there's been no indication of any fix headed our way in the near future. Therefore, chances are good that the game will stay in this sad, broken state from here on out. Even with the negative reviews that were posted when Womb Romb was fully functional, I was willing to give it a fair shot, but no one can do that with the game in this state. When one of the main components of a game doesn't work at all, it will usually destroy any chance of having fun during play, and that is the case here. Even if it's on sale, don't buy Womb Room. You won't get what you're advertised. I've flagged the game for being broken, and I will be asking for a refund once I scrape out all of the trading card drops. (Judge me for that if you so desire.)
it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucked, and gave me a terminal illness. 2/10 :(
Womb Room is an unconventional indie simulation developed by Bearded Eye and published by Nightdive Studios and Atari that attempts to compress the entirety of human existence into a strange, humorous, and often disturbing interactive experience. Built around the idea that life itself functions like a roguelike game, it takes players on a journey from birth to death through a chain of randomized events, unexpected consequences, and bizarre choices. Rather than offering traditional objectives or structured progression, Womb Room focuses on experimentation, curiosity, and the unpredictable nature of existence, creating an experience that feels equal parts satire, comedy, and philosophical commentary. The game's premise is simple yet unusual. Players begin at the very start of life and are immediately faced with decisions that influence the path their character follows. Every choice branches into new opportunities, strange situations, and often abrupt endings. Unlike many life simulation games that emphasize long-term planning and careful management, Womb Room embraces uncertainty. Success is never guaranteed, and even seemingly reasonable decisions can result in unexpected outcomes. This unpredictability becomes the foundation of the entire experience. One of the game's most distinctive strengths is its ability to transform ordinary life events into absurd scenarios. Careers, relationships, hobbies, accidents, and personal choices all become opportunities for the game to deliver surprising twists. Players never truly know where a decision will lead, and much of the enjoyment comes from discovering increasingly ridiculous outcomes. Every new life feels like an experiment, encouraging repeated playthroughs simply to uncover additional possibilities. The writing plays a central role in making these scenarios entertaining. Womb Room relies heavily on text descriptions to communicate events and outcomes, and much of its personality comes from the tone of these narratives. The humor frequently shifts between clever observations, dark comedy, social satire, and complete absurdity. At times, the game feels like a parody of life simulators, while at other moments it resembles a commentary on the randomness and unpredictability of existence itself. Beneath the humor lies a surprisingly thoughtful concept. Womb Room repeatedly explores the tension between personal choice and chance. Players are constantly making decisions, yet the outcomes often feel beyond their control. The game raises questions about destiny, luck, and personal responsibility without ever becoming overly serious. This underlying theme gives the experience more substance than its intentionally ridiculous presentation initially suggests. The roguelike structure works well with the concept. Death is not treated as a failure but as a natural conclusion to each run. Once a life ends, players return to the beginning and start again, armed with greater knowledge of the game's possibilities. Because each playthrough is relatively short, experimentation feels encouraged rather than punished. The game constantly invites players to try different decisions and explore alternative life paths. A major source of replay value comes from the sheer variety of outcomes. The branching structure ensures that players rarely encounter the same sequence of events twice during their early hours. Strange occupations, unusual accidents, bizarre achievements, and unexpected deaths combine to create a large pool of content that rewards curiosity. The game's unpredictability keeps players engaged because there is always the possibility of discovering something completely unexpected. The first-person perspective adds a subtle sense of immersion to the experience. While the gameplay remains relatively simple, viewing events through the eyes of the protagonist helps reinforce the illusion of living through these absurd scenarios. It creates a stronger connection between player choices and their consequences, even when those consequences are intentionally ridiculous. Visually, Womb Room adopts a minimalist approach. The environments and presentation are functional rather than impressive, with much of the experience relying on imagination and text-based storytelling. While the graphics lack sophistication, they serve the game's purpose adequately. The focus remains firmly on the choices, outcomes, and ideas rather than visual spectacle. In many ways, the stripped-down presentation allows the writing and concepts to remain at the forefront. The audio design follows a similar philosophy. Sound effects and ambient audio contribute to the atmosphere but rarely become the main attraction. The game depends far more on its writing and unexpected situations than on audiovisual presentation. While the sound design is not particularly memorable, it complements the experience without distracting from it. One of the most interesting aspects of Womb Room is its willingness to embrace complete unpredictability. Many simulation games strive to create logical systems where actions lead to understandable results. Womb Room deliberately rejects this approach, instead portraying life as a chaotic series of events that often defy expectation. This design choice creates moments of genuine surprise and frequently generates humor through the sheer absurdity of what occurs. However, this same unpredictability can also become one of the game's limitations. Because randomness plays such a significant role, players may occasionally feel that their decisions lack meaningful impact. Some outcomes appear disconnected from the choices that preceded them, reducing the sense of strategic involvement. As the novelty wears off, the limited depth of the mechanics becomes more noticeable. The game's humor is another area likely to divide audiences. Its reliance on dark comedy, strange situations, and occasional shock value means that not every joke will resonate equally with every player. Those who appreciate unconventional humor and experimental design are likely to enjoy the experience more than players seeking a traditional simulation. Despite these shortcomings, Womb Room deserves credit for its originality. Few games attempt to represent the entire human experience through a roguelike framework, and even fewer are willing to explore such an unusual idea with this level of commitment. The concept remains memorable long after the game ends because it approaches familiar themes from a completely different perspective. Ultimately, Womb Room succeeds as an experimental indie title that prioritizes creativity over complexity. Its life-simulation premise, branching choices, dark humor, and philosophical undertones combine to create an experience that is genuinely unique. While the simplistic mechanics and heavy reliance on randomness prevent it from achieving greater depth, the game's originality and willingness to take risks make it an interesting and often entertaining curiosity. Players who enjoy unconventional indie projects and strange narrative experiments will likely find plenty to appreciate within its bizarre interpretation of life itself. Rating: 5/10
