About
Wizardry Variants Daphne carries on the lineage of the classic RPG series, Wizardry. The portal to the labyrinth of despair, where even destruction is pleasure, has opened once again.
Once every 100 years, the Abyss opens.
It is a curse of death that consumes the continent. A Warlock who coveted Death, devoured people and animals and enveloped the world in despair.
Inheriting the power to seal the Abyss over generations, kings have continued to protect the kingdom from its curse.
But now, the king has vanished, and the world is being consumed by death, moment by moment.
Resistance itself is meaningless.
There is naught but to perish.
Experience an adventure of your very own with unique allies based on combinations of classes and races.
Perilous traps and mighty foes await in the dungeon. Take on a high difficulty that only Wizardry can offer.

Wizardry is a computer role-playing game released in the United States in 1981 with elements such as party organizing, labyrinth exploration, monster fighting, and character development having such a tremendous impact on the various RPGs that followed, that it is often referred to as the origin of RPGs. Numerous sequels have been released, and nearly 40 years after its release, it remains a timeless masterpiece that enjoys strong popularity around the world.

Pros; Keeps to the dungeon concept of the originals, with similar spells and classes. Changing from Good to Evil is the same functionality as the originals, needing a "Ambush or leave alone" mechanic they used to do. Nicely nostalgic for those who admired the older games! Cons; The UI navigation is awful. There are too many options that can't be interlaced, making something like adding a new companion to your team a maze in itself. Cassandra = "inappropriate language". Sweet jesus... even back in the 90s of the SNES, games were translated better. Fix your dodgy language filter, as I'd like to use average names for my characters thanks. Pop-up-or-get-out - Far too many pop-ups. When you play the game for the first time, it throws wave after wave of pop-ups at you about updates that you need to manually click through, taking a few seconds each. Which doesn't seem like much, but when you're just starting out and have no idea what they're talking about, it gets redundant quick. Exiting the game; Pressing ESC does nothing here. It's unclear as to what point the game has saved itself, therefore you have no idea where you can leave it, and I personally needed to google how to do it in the first place. Wizardry is now a Gacha game - yeah... not too fond of that. It never was, and it never should be. Would rather pay a solid amount for the game in order to get a nice re-do of the oldies, rather than to have a Genshin Impact conversion.

Lack of warning or EVER letting you know a quest will instantly fall if you leave a dungeon or dungeon floor. no warning to rest before going back in, just a stupid tiny red dot on a single building. game store has big nose level pricing at 75 US dollars for a single skill xp scroll that only gives 100 xp when skills need thousands to level. no actual description of what 90% of anything even does. broken mechanics that don't even work. mass bugs that break the game yet have existed since launch day. Love wizardry and the manga series based on it. this game is basically phone-ware slop made by trashy devs who think every American is a millionaire and who don't give a crap to fix the actual game.
