About
Wizardry Variants Daphne carries on the lineage of the classic RPG series, Wizardry. The portal to the labyrinth of despair, where even destruction is pleasure, has opened once again.
Once every 100 years, the Abyss opens.
It is a curse of death that consumes the continent. A Warlock who coveted Death, devoured people and animals and enveloped the world in despair.
Inheriting the power to seal the Abyss over generations, kings have continued to protect the kingdom from its curse.
But now, the king has vanished, and the world is being consumed by death, moment by moment.
Resistance itself is meaningless.
There is naught but to perish.
Experience an adventure of your very own with unique allies based on combinations of classes and races.
Perilous traps and mighty foes await in the dungeon. Take on a high difficulty that only Wizardry can offer.

Wizardry is a computer role-playing game released in the United States in 1981 with elements such as party organizing, labyrinth exploration, monster fighting, and character development having such a tremendous impact on the various RPGs that followed, that it is often referred to as the origin of RPGs. Numerous sequels have been released, and nearly 40 years after its release, it remains a timeless masterpiece that enjoys strong popularity around the world.

The micro transactions are a bit greedy but even so playing the game was fun. Unfortunately they decided to add kernel level anti-cheat which Borked Linux/Steamdeck play and the developers don't seem to care. Can't recommend for that reason. A real shame. RIP.
PC port sucks, play the phone version. It looks and plays better on your phone. I am happy that Steam let me know about this game but I strongly recommend playing it on your phone. It is like night and day of how much better it is overall. Other than that, this is a solid high fantasy dungeon-crawling RPG gacha.

Obviously a mobile game, does not play well with a mouse as you have to slide forward like you're swiping to move. It's bad. I also can't stand games that need to download an extra 10+GB after you load up. Doesn't belong on steam.
I've always liked Wizardry, but even if this is suppose to be a great version of it, its hard to just play the game because it won't stop with massively pushing tutorials and mobile gatcha elements at me. I really want to just play the game, figure things out on my own, but after 40 minutes I keep getting pushed to engage with the mobile elements of the game's infrastructure. I just want to play , man.
This is THE worst game i've ever played... I've been playing on phone for a few weeks now, joined to do the FF11 Event... The FF11 event ends in 8 days... It's impossible to actually get anything done unless you want to spend hundreds of dollars... So far I've got, 1 copy of each of the 3 FF11 heroes... (but need like, 1+2+6+18 copies of each to fully upgrade them) 1 fully ranked but not fully upgraded relic weapon... (of 7 weapons...) (i will need to farm the same fight 900+ times for each of the other 6 weapons left) I got 70 of the event coins... (i need 100 coins to get 1 of the 3 character weapons) (1 need another 80 to get 1 of the 6 character armors) (i also need another 100 for 1 of the 3 FF11 guaranteed character summon scrolls) (3 characters, 1+2+6+18 copies of each character) (i get 1 coin for using 1 event scroll, it costs $115 for 50 event scrolls) (you can get 11 event scrolls for 2000 green gems) (you can get only about 2000 green gems a week) And then there are the unique accessories that are randomly dropped, from the SAME fight that drops the relic weapon upgrade parts... Of which I need another 1+2+6+18 copies of each one... And I need to get one with 4-5 stars for it to be any good... This game is literally the worse gotcha phone trash game I've ever played... The story is trash... The characters are mostly trash... The characters are very stupid... The main character is also stupid... Why won't my character just tell the idiots to not be stupid? And then there is the guild rankings! You can get plenty of Ungraded Tags... But to get Lead, Bronze, Iron, Steel, Copper Tags... You need to DISMISS one of your party members of that rank... To get a Lead Tag you need to Dismiss a Lead Rank hero... You need 1 Lead Rank Rag to take the Bronze Rank Trial... You can take 5 characters with you on the trial... So you rank yourself and 5 heroes to lead rank, then you dismiss one of them, and then can take the Bronze Rank Trial... And that is just to RAKE the trial... One time... The Lead Tag is used up when you take the trial... So if you fail the trial, that hero you dismissed essentially died in vein... You can't get dismissed heroes back... Every inch of this game is torment... And get this, there are weapons that you get 1 time through the story of the game... and every 30 days you can get 1 of them again by using the time travel powers, and like other items you need 1+2+6+18 copies of the item to fully upgrade it... 30 days + 30 days x 2 = 60 days 30 days x 6 = 180 days 30 days x 18 = 540 days 810 real life days to fully upgrade 1 Digging Mattock. It is clunky and slow... It is so annoying... The only good thing about this game is the art style and graphical style... The combat is just okay at best... Don't play this "game"... Don't waste money on this "game". This is not a game... This is a jail... This is torment... Avoid this game and anything from the developers of this game... Wizardry Variant Daphne, is now and forever the worst game of all time ever to exist.
"Tap correctly to gain HP" stopped working and it glitched out on me, causing me to die and have to do the story all over again. Upsetting because up until that point, the game looked promising and even has music from the Final Fantasy 12 composer. If the devs removed that game mechanic, this would actually be a decent video game that I would wanna play. Until now, uninstalled, thanks.
