About
Wizardry Variants Daphne carries on the lineage of the classic RPG series, Wizardry. The portal to the labyrinth of despair, where even destruction is pleasure, has opened once again.
Once every 100 years, the Abyss opens.
It is a curse of death that consumes the continent. A Warlock who coveted Death, devoured people and animals and enveloped the world in despair.
Inheriting the power to seal the Abyss over generations, kings have continued to protect the kingdom from its curse.
But now, the king has vanished, and the world is being consumed by death, moment by moment.
Resistance itself is meaningless.
There is naught but to perish.
Experience an adventure of your very own with unique allies based on combinations of classes and races.
Perilous traps and mighty foes await in the dungeon. Take on a high difficulty that only Wizardry can offer.

What blobbers should be in 2026. Graphics could be better but I am still enjoying myself as much as when I was playing the might and magic series, many moons ago

TLDR: Game would be good it was a normal wizardry pay the box game, buts its a gacha with all of the bad aspects of those multiplied by 100. Buy any other dark fantasy dungeon crawler, they offer the same without the gacha. It also uses AI in its production but the team is obstuse about it. Most predatory gacha i have played in a while. 10 pulls costing 40 dollars and with the least amount of free pulls in any gacha, in 20 hours i havent even gotten 20 pulls, you need to spend money every 10 lvls to get a material needed to upgrade your rank, which are only obtained paying money or with weekly missions. Mind you this weekly missions only give 3 of the lowest rank of the material, so you need to do the quest around 10 times (3 months) to upgrade a 6 man team from lead rank (2nd lowest rank) to bronze rank (3rd lowest rank). After you rank up you actually get weaker, since every mob scales, your equipment gets obsolete and you have to farm new one and upgrade again to go through a zone you already did before because everything has gotten stronger than you after YOU leveled up, just to force you waste resources that are locked behind terrible rng, or obscene prices in shop. It also leads to problems like people purposufully underleveling to tackle event bosses, since fighting an event boss at lvl 20 is considerably easier than doing it at 50, and you get the same reward. From a gameplay perspective its the dumbest design desition ever made, but the sole point of this game is try to force you to waste money so it makes sense never making you actually stronger. Story seems good, and the wizardry vibes are always great, but thats the only good points the game have. If the game was pay to play and it didnt have all the gacha, greediest monetization ever, nonexistant progression because of scaling systems, have upgrade materials being locked behind weekly missions or paywalls, and had a real difficulty to the game instead of heavy paywalls and artificial ways to make you spend resources and farm them again or spend money (the real motivation behind the design), it would be a good game but sadly it isnt.
