Wittengrad is no more is a surreal, narrative walking sim with horror elements. The city's foggy streets will lead you through the story of a single evening in Barnaba’s life. You will encounter the peculiar inhabitants of Wittengrad, though… does it even matter? After all, Wittengrad is gone.

About
A retro-inspired narrative game where the heavy, oppressive atmosphere of the loathed city of Wittengrad leaves its mark on every inhabitant. You play as Barnaba, who, like so many others, has fallen into the trap of dreaming about escape. Now, he is no longer fighting to fulfill his desires, he is fighting for his life.
Wander familiar streets shrouded in thick fog streets that, under the cover of night, turn terrifyingly alien.
But they could not leave the accursed city… Meet the inhabitants who find Wittengrad by night all too familiar.
At least you have your customers. Anyone leaving Wittengrad must pay to cross over to the other side… but that’s a different story altogether.

Actually very moody and slightly philosophical walking-sim with oppressive settings to it, about ~60 minutes, transferring the victims of a rotten city across the river, I assume we play the game as the Grim and as one of the characters, different perspectives that is. It's mostly a linear walking simulator, with a few stealth or chasing sections, they are pretty easy though, so you can treat it like a narrative game. Unfortunately the game uses some AI textures and you didn't elaborate on that, also you didn't mention the promotional material, what about that classroom image? Maybe from your perspective it saves you on some difficult work, but in my experience observing AI games, you will lose 75% of the player base using AI anything, so if you are doing original modeling, it may not be worth putting the stain on your good work, especially since you doing a good job with the themes and the settings. Wittengrad seems to be a pretty crappy place, like a decaying city where everyone is trying to get what they can, and for the most part it seems everyone is happy to **** off from there,
well, assuming they didn't burn alive, which they probably have.
I thought the uncanny models looked very cool, it has that surreal and expressionism(?) quality to it, although again, I wish you just didn't use AI textures so I could see what you actually doing. I think with horror games you can get away with a lot of low-res textures, is it really that hard to make something original.
Pros:
(+) There is not a a lot to the game, but I think you handled the design of the characters, and the foreboding feel of rotten city very well, I thought the game was moody and it was enjoyable to navigate (the use of scene transitions actually reminded me of Half-life 2 a bit) (+) The dialogue was interesting to read, I felt the game had some interesting perspectives and some playful interactions
Feedback:
Random things: - the interaction on the "paddle?" was easy to miss, maybe make it glow a bit - if you jump into the water you may not be able to get back - would it not make more sense to have a different walking sound effect for the ferry guy? AI: - whatever time you save using AI, you will lose 50-75% of the playerbase, and I see it happen so often, so it only sets you back, don't put stain on your work, you'll get more traction just making everything manually Overall Thoughts: 7/10 The mood is the MVP of the game, I think it carried the whole thing, and I rather enjoyed the writing and the characters that it had. Pretty short but also very cheap. You have talent, but I hope you will reconsider the use of AI, it saves time, but it makes people run away from the game, and makes it hard to recommend it for others. But overall, I think you did a good job.
Niche, obscure and underrated games: http://store.steampowered.com/curator/31294838-Hidden-Gem-Discovery/
We live two lives one in the present, and one in dreams of somewhere beyond

Pretty fun little game. Worth the $5
It's really short, but dense with atmosphere and great Lovecraftian character design. It left me wanting more.
