A bit weird abstract adventure where you explore halls of education palace. A bit awkward, a bit curious, a bit sentimental - I like it. Overall it's nothing more than a walking sim with some easy to solve puzzles and peculiar atmosphere that you will remember. Music is... well you gotta play to hear it.
I came across this game and was roped in a little by it's colour palette and seemingly strange nature, then decided to play it when I noticed that it was free. This short walking sim type game is surreal, abstract, and just plain ODD, but I also found it intriguing and really enjoyed its aesthetic overall. This is very much something that you might enjoy if you like arty weird types of things, but could very easily be seen as just weird or pretentious otherwise. I would be lying if I really knew what was going on half the time I was just happy to be there and look at all the lovely colours. Beyond that, there honestly isn't too much to say about this, it's short and free so honestly it's worth just experiencing for yourself. It has a bit of that small dev team jankiness to it, but I liked it, and honestly was intrigued by it enough to quickly play through it a second time to take in what was around me a little better. One thing I was curious about with this game was the "puzzle" element it mentions in the tags and in the descriptions. As someone that plays a lot of puzzle games and is particularly fond of the first-person puzzle genre, I personally would not categorise this as a puzzle game. To me it's more of an interactive walking simulator. I played this on Steam deck, and will mention that the resolution didn't seem to be able to be changed. It defaults to a square and you might just have to put up with it, as I tried for a while to change it with no success. In my opinion it does also need a bit of remapping. I can't remember if I shared my control set-up or not, but if not, I would recommend mapping Ctrl to RTrigger, Mouse sensitivity buttons to L4/R4, the "Reset" function to L5, and finally run to LB (if like me, you find pushing LStick in uncomfortable after a while). Overall this is weird, I like it.

"With Shining Eyes" is less of a game and more of an eye assulting art exhibition... see, being an amateur artist isn't easy, and when local art galleries have finally had enough and taken out restraining orders, amateur artists have no choice but to either go back to working at McDonalds if they can get their jobs back, or pay $100 to dump their failed art projects onto Steam as if they were video games. "With Shining Eyes" is a case of the latter. In this adventure game you wander around a surreal and trippy and very badly coloured set of low poly environments, solve a few simplistic puzzles... that's about it really. The quality of the "art" here is extremely low and hard on the eyes. There's a reason the Mona Lisa wasn't bright pink and orange. DaVinci had talent. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. Not every "free" game really is. There's often MTX, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of things that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their work than giving it away without any remuneration. This is a service to themselves, and the gaming industry, and should be applauded. Of course, just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean it's valuable. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
truely an amazing experience. It has and amazing and unique art style short and simple yet so memorable. Amazing sound track that captures the game perfect I'm so glad i found out about this game.
I wish my time was spent basking in the warm sun, with my hands caring for something that will outlive my existence...it's quite a beautiful game, 10/10
