There weren't any reviews or YouTube content so I figured I'd take a chance, despite swearing I'd never buy another Early Access title again. I'm actually really surprised. It's a wave shooter but pretty fun and easy to get into. I could see it being a hit for showing off VR to friends, although I've had my Vive since pre-order and I found it fun, as well. Time went by fairly quickly while playing which means I was having fun. Graphics are average - nothing groundbreaking but not terrible, either. Sounds are stock and mediocre, although I guess I don't really expect the developer to rent out a bunch of WW2 guns and buy thousands of dollars in sound equipment, either. Gameplay is good - it started to feel somewhat repetitive for about a minute at the end of the first mission but it wasn't a deal breaker. I haven't ran across any bugs yet and you can tell that the developer put a lot of time into the game. Overall, I'm impressed and think it's worth a go. I'm very pleased to finally have a new VR game that I don't need to refund. Looking forward to improvements and more content.
Okay so I am a MASSIVE WW2 shill and even I can't get into the game in its current state. This just feels unpolished and strange, I couldn't get used to the controls and generally couldn't get immersed. The concept sounds good and its a new game so I cut it some slack, I hope with more development that this becomes one of the best games on the steam VR market.
I really like this WW2 wave shooter. It looks good. It has good music and sound and very nice weapons. My youtube video got some thumbs down for the Gameplay what I don't understand, since the game actually lot of fun. I will definitely continue the story line and shoot some more Nazis. https://youtu.be/xFgkcGG31aU Good wave shooter for VR WW2 fans.
Where Beat Saber is usually cited as the game that sells VR units, I’d say Winter Fury: Longest Road is the game VR players buy after they’ve gotten a bit bored of using their headset solely as a workout device. This is easily the type of game that players of all skill levels can get into and is perfect for VR arcade owners, gaming parties, and playing with friends. VR is just begging for a solid library full of polished, fun titles, and I’m happy to say that Winter Fury: Longest Road absolutely makes that cut. Be sure to pick this up if you’re looking for something new — it’s worth the price and definitely worthy of your time.
Just tried out the sniper rifle on 2nd level. Very cool mechanic. I would like a mission like the movie "Enemy At The Gates" where you would need to take out an elite German sniper using only your sniper rifle. Wide variety of historical weapons to try out. I found myself doing a lot of the dirty work with my Thompson? machine gun. If you are one of those people with a strong dislike of Nazis this game should be a good fit. Recommend.
I normally dont like arcade shooters, but this game is awesome! Except the sniper rifle. Why the hell does the sniper scope work like in Fallout 4, when you have a working scope system on the 3D model itself? I tried to hold the rifle away enough to be able to snipe with the rifles 3D model scope and I just couldnt shoot anything because the scope was way too far from my face. Please, PLEASE make it at least a setting to allow people to disable the horrible Fallout 4 scope!
The game received from ViveVR groups curator program see the bottom of the review to join. A fun Tank VR game that while not super polished is fun and provides two game options to play. Video Look review: https://youtu.be/8pHGcYnv5iA The two-game modes are an Arcade version where you have no control of the tank except the turret and firing. You are moved to several scenarios where you have to survive waves of enemies then continue on. It's ok but I much prefer the other game mode. Command your tank and drive, fire and survive while capturing flags and defeating enemies. Put out the fires and shoot the enemies with several weapons but mostly use your tank. It's fun and it's not easy to defeat enemies while having to do the driving, firing and going on top to shoot down infantry that your cannon and tank machine gun won't get. Graphically it's a small studio but that doesn't matter because you're in a mother ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tank and blowing ♥♥♥♥ up! I enjoyed this game and definitely would pay the asking price, it's not for those who take their WW2 tank simulators seriously but for those who want to climb onboard, shoot Nazis and blow ♥♥♥♥ up it's for you! N.B. This is a first impressions review on the current state of the early access build. Will try and update this review as things progress, as the devs say that there are still a bunch more tweaks and improvements coming. Gameplay, Immersion & VR Experience: First thoughts were that it took me right back to the old days playing Time Crisis on the PS1, though a bit more forgiving (which is a good thing!), and with a heap of extra fun new layers of gameplay with different weapons, different vehicles and an interesting mix of different mission styles I found myself having a lot of fun, enjoying the challenge of tracking down the enemy in a 3d play space (they come at you from all angles), ducking, reloading and refining my aim to get a better shot ratio and head shot tally. A great mix of skill required to shoot accurately, but forgiving enough that you can have a fun arcade shooter. A fun game that you can lose yourself in and blow the work week away on a Friday night without the stress of some of the other more serious shooters. FYI, if you opt for the standing experience and not the seated, then you’re going to want to have two tracking devices to help track you as you turn around to get enemies behind you. So if you’re using Vive, you’re fine, if you’re using Oculus then you’ll want to have the second tracker. Music: Fantastic. Very epic and cinematic. The audio throughout is of a really high quality as well. This is perhaps my highlight of the whole game. Are there VR title music awards? If so, this should get it. Menus: Easy to navigate, and have some really nice touches with 3d depth and animation that make you appreciate that you’re doing this in VR. Tutorial: Really good. Teaches the controls really naturally and smoothly. And showed me really early on that I’d better get that second tracker set up. Some feedback here is that while the tutorials are effective, I’d like more time learning each weapon to get more comfortable with them. Maybe a selection to continue when ready as opposed to auto skipping once you’ve hit the targets? Summary: I’d highly recommend this game to anyone that finds themselves drawn to arcade shooting games like Time Crisis, Virtua Cop or Deer Hunter etc. If you like games like these, then you’re going to really enjoy this game.
