5/10 thats it??? + works on windows 7 + art style - very few choices - most of your choices do nothing - short
I will still suggest this, but I do wish it was a bit better. I loved the original Roadwarden. This was a somewhat fun short VN. I like the character of Vena the most. Would like to play as her in a more robust game.
nice experience, not short, not long. good length for a story
Great music, art and great writing. Characters are interesting. There are not many choices but most of them shape the ending. Just keep in mind that despite the world is the same as in Roadwarden, this is more of a visual novel than a graphic adventure or a survival game.
It's a pleasant read, with just alright visuals (some animations looked too stiff) and the most boring cripple AND a bard story you could think of. Both huntress and herbalist are decent characters with their struggles (tho Iudicias anger issues seem to be random and with no actual epilogue it's a bit strange), but the dual nature of choices are what hurts the experience the most. With every character having two paths both in their story and a tie in last chapter, you are left with one playthrough of decent decisions and the other full of the stupidest decisions one can make, because the "bad" or less ambitious choices and endings are long paths of teen drama, foolishness and emotional immaturity (both from protagonists and NPCs). While I love the world of Viaticum and understand it was a VISUAL NOVEL (some people go over that fact thinking that one dev has to stick to the same genre and formula or simply are unfamiliar with the VN concept...) made mostly to get a breath before some another RPG, I wish it would be more entranched in the world, had some interesting lore behind all the filler talk and had some more depth than "this is your path and you have to choose it because the other one is just dumb so don't be a dimwit". btw everyone who says Vena is not supposed to ruin her relationship with father and go to the city is just wrong, he's too irresponsible and immature to be an authority and deserves what comes for him if you drift apart, also going to the city just makes more sense I enjoyed it, though it's bit short even for a VN and supporting any game from Viaticum universe is a pleasure (even if I like to complain a bit too much).
Windy Meadow is a visual novel that takes a bit to settle into, but once you accept the format, mostly dialogue options with some interactive moments, it becomes a pleasant, low-stakes experience. It's a great foil to the epic Roadwarden, set in the same captivating universe, making it a perfect choice for anyone eagerly awaiting Roadwarden 2 (fingers crossed for that). The pixel art is gorgeous, as you'd expect, and the sound design really shines, complementing the atmospheric vibe of the game. It's a perfect balance of serene and eerie, with each scene making you feel fully immersed. The world-building, while more compact than Roadwarden, still provides some nice depth. In terms of length, the game will take you about 4 hours if you take your time, exploring the world and soaking in the details. If you’re just racing through, it can be finished in 2 to 3 hours, but I’d recommend savouring it. Played on Linux, it ran beautifully, no major bugs or performance hiccups, which is always a plus. In the end, Windy Meadow may not have the same grandeur as Roadwarden, but it’s a great way to kill time, and revisit the world while we wait for the next installation of Roadwarden (there, I have said it). Worth a play, especially if you're a fan of the lore!
Excellent and delighfull, but short, story in the Roadwarden universe. It's a visual novel with some choices where you follow three villagers during the days leading up to a goblin attack all while dealing with a personal dilemma. The 3 stories are mostly separate with some minor overalap and each has two different paths that form your personality (each with one achievement, it's pretty obvious what choices to pick when you see the result, or peak at the achievements). The artstyle is great, the music nice and the writing is good, and get to the point without overreliance on purple prose, that some visual novels tend to do. It all culminates in one final (pretty short) chapter to bring all the stories together and give the conclusion, ending with one final choice per character to decide how they will move on (again with one achievement per choice and character). Took me little over 3 hours for one run, giving you half the achievements and got a very satisfying ending for all characters. You can skip already seen dialogue and there are not that many changes depending on your choices, so you can quickly get the rest of the achievements, if you don't feel like playing the entire story again. The story isn't that different, but you might want to do it because the writing is strong.
Allthough almost my whole family and village got pillaged, murdered and sacked, I really enjoyed my time in Windy Meadow! ~\O/~
Absolutely beautiful storytelling. Fantastic writing, wonderful narrative tapestry, such a satisfying gorgeous zooming-in to the Roadwarden world. Completely in love with what this is and how it does what it does. Thank you.
Its quite short and why the dialogue option is so mean and limited? Literally most of the time I don't want any choices that the game gave me! Like WTF why are playable characters are so mean? These villager are raising, teaching and giving you shelters why talk to them like that?
