A Wild West Game that comes out perfectly on time of Red Dead Redemption 2. The underlying idea is interesting. However interface could be more clear & the action gameplay scenes disappoint. Only for hardcore fans. Everyone else plays Red Dead Redemption. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zLPQAOhUy0
-Quick Review- Wildest of the Wild is an ambitious third person shooter / resource management game by the indie developer Dmitry Morozov and released in 2018. -Detailed breakdown review- Story: Apparently my brother is dead in the first few minutes of the game and now I'm the only person who can clear up this one-horse-town. The only problem is: I don't want to play anymore. Gameplay: There are two modes of play. You start as a third person shooter where you pick up several sample weapons and fight your way to find your dead brother. It controls like a standard 3rd person shooter... I didn't find the controls until I died a bunch in a fight and a tip prompt to press F1 came up, and that's when I ACTUALLY learned how to play. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2277465272 Game design advice: Maybe put that as an option in the pause screen. I typically don't go around pressing my F keys for hints since we're not playing on Windows 95 computers anymore. ANYWAY, all that to say I learned how to heal myself in combat by pressing Z and/or X. The combat phase is typically the most intuitive part of the game. Which makes it all the more frustrating that before you can do any fighting you need to run over to a bench and press F to pick up your weapons. (E doesn't seem to be bound to anything. and I would 100% prefer to use the STANDARD interact key to interact with stuff.) Movement is handled with WASD, number keys for weapons, but you're better off using your mouses clunky scroll wheel because shotgun is 4, and knife is 1. ...even if I only have a shotgun and knife! Really there's just a lot of design Faux Pas being made in this game. Much of that can be chalked up and understood because this might be the developers first video game ever, and for that he should be commended... However, too many design mistakes---a painful game to play makes. After your first experience with combat, the game becomes a "survive the wild west" game, where you wander around a 2d map trying to figure out what you're supposed to do next. If you run over to the knife map icon, and spam your space bar (One space bar press to interact doesn't work... again... why wasn't the same key used? it should have been E, or for being more computer centric: Enter/Return. UGH!!) In this map view, you will lose your game. Combat sections will reset indefinitely (And to my frustration, when I was stuck dying in a battle ring and couldn't leave without returning to main menu) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2277446913 In the map view, you can die from: Waterdrop (Thirst) reaching 100, or your apple (hunger) reaching 100, or your lightning bolt (energy/life essence) dropping to 0. So yeah. don't spend too much time thinking because the map view will kill you permanently and you'll need to reload (assuming you even SAVED in the first place.) You run around fighting bandits, getting money, getting reputation, buying weapons, sleeping with girls in bars, getting STD's which can be cured by the doctor apparently... ALL THIS to work towards the main goal: "You must kill 4 criminal bosses and survive in the wild west". Conclusion: Confused? Seems like a lot of stuff in the game? Yeah actually. I'll try to explain in my thoughts video more about what's going on in the game. But Wildest of the Wild was wildly frustrating for me. This game is too rough and brakes too many design rules for me. If you figure out the games mechanics it could totally be an enjoyable experience for some people. And if that's you, definitely check it out! It's always worthwhile helping out smaller developers. However, until some adjustments are made, this game is a hard skip for me. Unscripted Thoughts Video: https://youtu.be/C3VRBiFqOcs
Kind of a low poly western shooter until it isn't anymore, then you need to watch your resources, make sure your reputation is intact and most important get some revenge for your brother! https://youtu.be/69w1m0uuhpE
Ну, если совсем все приелось. Как разнообразие, на пару вечеров потянет.
