":O)" 💖🖤🖤 🟩 story has some real good moments 🔷 feels overall bit undercooked 🔴 combat is bad vibes: surreal sidehustle loops: rpgmaker game, story focus non-branching single ending, combat which involves multiple coinflips versus opponent's coinflips states: completed, 100% ramblings: it has a lot of charm and personality, it has pretty cool music. the art is nice, it has real good style to it and the game does neat things with it and the ui to fit with the different moments in the story. this game is very neat. but it definitely also has flaws. · bluntly put, the combat is bad. as an aesthetic motif its great, having it involve binary flips is super cute. mechanically, it's just boring and undeveloped. it's pure rng with essentially zero agency. there's an upgrade to get extra coin/dice, and one to lock one so it always is 1. there's an item to heal, and one that lets you reroll and it's janky to use since you have to set up it before you actually roll. and that's it, that's all of it. no like pool of upgrades or items you can use to manipulate things in different ways. those are the combat mechanics. · the game makes note that it has this whole left/right hand system, that could have maybe been used for this if there was any equipment, but it doesn't really ever get any meanigful use at all to the point you'll forget it even exists. · luckily there really aren't many combat encounters in the game, and the boss fights are definitely more interesting. they still have the same rng problems but as they're at least aesthetically fun and involve minigames so they end up feeling much better. the final boss ended up kind of the epitome of this, mechanically it was pretty poor but visually it was incredibly neat and interesting to go through. · i really liked the story, has great moments and scenes and i very much enjoyed where it went and ended. it does a great job of managing to balance between surreal comedy and horror. but i also felt like some of it was just poorly paced. at times it goes into too much at once, not giving enough room for things to breathe or develop and causing moments and reveals to fall sorta flat as a result. verdicts: i liked it, i thought it did some very neat things. scores: 🍔 out of 🤖 forms: 📟 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3746024400
I bought this on a whim because the sale price dropped it to about $2 grand total. I went into it expecting very little and thought I knew the upcoming storybeats as the narrative started to form. I was right about some of them, but I did not in any way predict the jarring reveal on the lead-up to to the finale. Go in blind as possible, be ready to eat ♥♥♥♥ a couple times due to bad RNG, and simply let the story unfold. You'll come out of this one a little different than you were before. A charming and unfortunate game.
Wonderful game, short, sweet, and with lovely music
Bizarre. Funny. Memorable.
