Beautiful and intriguing... and also pretty broken. Before anything, I recommend it if you are interested on the narrative, but not so much for the combat. If you're willing to look past jankiness, give it a try. The best part of the game are the characters, each memorable and interesting, with their own side-stories, background and interests, really make up for everything else. The story doesn't stay behind either, it's very choice-based with very different scenarios and unexpected twists to the events, keeping you intrigued for what comes next. The inspirations are pretty obvious, the kind of progress of limited amount of days, with each tasks advancing the day and exclusive to certain times, it's somewhat forgiving in this (giving the scope of the game) but does give you an incentive to organize your time. It's really good the way you can form relationships with everyone. Now, the combat sections, it has the bases to be good (different weapons, spells, stats connected to the social part, etc.), the problem is how bugged the hitboxes and collisions are. The levels are long and confusing, easy to fall through the map and lose yourself. And when you don't find bugs, it's bland and too repetitive, the bosses seems interesting but the fights are not that interesting. It's fun, at least the narrative part, the kind of game where you get more lore and explanations depending on the paths you take, and the NG+ adds a bit of variety, pretty sad the problems that spoil the experience.
I wish, that I could leave a neutral recommendation, but there is no option for this, sadly I want to divide the game into 2 parts: action and social part. Social Part is very Persona-like. Good character portraits, nice story arcs and stats-reliant options in dialogues. I liked this kind of gameplay in Persona games, I enjoined it in this game. Character story arcs were enjoyable, without any unexpected turns, but also without some overused cliches. The story itself felt quite good. I really wish, that this game was more like some detective quests. Also there is a good reason to replay this game, but take different turns. Action Part, however, left a really poor impression. Surface alignment in dungeons created a lot of problems, when a character would get stuck in the middle of the "bridge" or something like that. Combat itself was quite disappointing. Pacing was weird, stamina indicator didn't change during combat. Enemies would simply fall on your head sometimes. It felt rudimentary, compared to other action based games. Good thing though, I could run past most of the enemies. Overall impression: good, for a small project. Nice story, good graphic part and well-made social gameplay. Action part is poorly made and leaves quite nasty impression. This game would only win, if all combat parts were cut from the release version.
pretty solid gameplay reminiscent of a JRPG mixed with soulsbourne like difficulty spikes. The steampunk artsyle mixed with darker themes is very pleasing.
A steampunk style mystery game which has you trying to solve various cases onboard the giga airship known as the sun chaser. :Story is very good with interesting characters that all have their own side quests/stories. :Multiple endings depending on what you did/didn't find out or who you did/didn't become friends with or trusted. :Game length is roughly 15 hours long on a first play through. :Graphics are very nice if abit simplified at times with character actions. The game was made by literally 3-4 people so considering how interesting the game is it's rather impressive. A more detailed review can be seen here: https://youtu.be/sxEenlyfnGw?si=oUBcZk_twXpweY7T
No keyboard and mouse support
Selling the game on PC without keyboard support isn't ok. They should clearly warn about in on the store page. Without a gamepad you can't even pass the fist screen and get into main menu.
beautiful game! Love the steam punk look! Lots of mystery, old JRPG Vibes combined with Dead space. its a little bit slower of a pace and you can explore how and where you want without being too railroaded. Can wait to get further into it! Recommend for sure.
I definitely recommend this game. I was a little overwhelmed with the mechanics at first. I was making friends, upgrading my attributes, and managing an in-game clock. But once I figured it all out, I started to love how much agency the game gives me. It looks like there are different endings, and I'm curious how much things really branch off. I can tell I've had at least one big decision when I opted to go to a work banquet instead of covering for my new friend at the infirmary. The visuals have a ton of charm and I especially enjoy the setting. I love the character art during cutscenes. The music is excellent and really lends to the atmosphere. My only complaints could be solved with a patch. It was difficult to exit out of the game, and I wish it had a minimap, but the lack of minimap helped with immersion as I know my way around the ship pretty well.
So far the game is really interesting. Has a different start to it as was a challenge trying to determine wear to go, but figured it out and there are many turns and twists in the game. For a game built by a smaller company this game really has outstanding graphics as the detail is something I noticed right from the beginning. I really recommend you give this game a try as you will be happy with where it takes you and what you see.
Fun mystery game that mixes a few genres, some of which work better than others. You play Jack, a young apprentice on a giant airship. The first few days are rather routine, with you simply doing chores for others, but then you start seeing strange things that gradually draw you into something more dangerous. The situation on the airship reaches boiling point when people start disappearing. The airship is cool. Because there is no map and you don't know where everything is, the first few minutes can be tedious. A tram allows you to go swiftly between floors, but you'll still be running around a lot. There is also just one save location available. However, this isn't a major concern because you'll be sent there frequently throughout the game. Furthermore, having constant access to a save point would lessen the significance of decisions you'll have to make along the way. The graphics are good, and many areas are rich with small details that contribute to the overall feel. Despite the low-quality textures that make elegant objects like paintings and tapestries appear grainy, I didn't find it unpleasant. The only critique is that there are clipping issues. Parts of your character will frequently vanish into doors, walls, and pretty much everything else you can walk into. It will not get you stuck or break down the game, but it is weird. People are everywhere, yet the game helps you identify individuals with whom you can have an interesting conversation. Every unimportant and common person will be represented by a black silhouette. When you approach, they change color, but this has no meaning. You can walk straight through them, making it appear as if they aren't even there. The same can be said about dark masses that depict a group of people. Or perhaps this is connected to the overall mystery? Who knows. Anyone you can talk to, on the other hand, will have textures. They are separated into two categories: regular folks who share a line or two on the current circumstance and major characters who advance the plot. The latter have a distinct appearance and a visible mark above them. It also matters how you respond to them. Almost every interaction requires you to choose between multiple responses. Most are simply various sentences that lead to the same conclusion, but a correct response can help you build a relationship with that person. If you choose a poor one, it will drop. Because you have no idea how a person will react to a response, you must carefully read each one and try to match it with their personality. It’s not that hard as it sounds. The catch is that there can only be so many actions per day. A day has four phases and the game lasts 30 days. Each interaction with a watch symbol advances time, so people only appear in specific areas at specific times. Information about this is found in the characters menu, so you don't have to waste time searching for them, although the position is not always known. You can also avoid socializing and spend your time improving your stats by reading books in the library, studying in your room, or work at several stations around the airship. There is a general task that must be completed on a certain day, but you’re free to do anything you like until that time comes. The exciting element is that you never know what you might discover. Perhaps someone needs your assistance moving boxes or your advice on something. You will gain stats if an interaction has a unique icon. Some even allow you to select which stat to improve. Stats are useful because they allow you to select responses that would otherwise be locked. Because you can't be the best at everything, some paths will remain unknown unless you restart the game and make different decisions. Some days transport you to another world that is gradually merging with the reality. This is where the battle happens. This section of the game is less dependent on stats. There are several advantages, but you can play the game with just your basic stats. Everything else is the same as in any other action RPG. You have a melee weapon as well as a gun with limited ammunition. The experience points gained from slain enemies fill up the bar until you reach a new level. This also grants you a point that can be spent on passive or active talents from the five elements (fire, air, water, earth, and alchemy). Because the best skills are locked behind the level and total points you invest in a certain element, it's recommended to pick only one element and fully improve it. You can also grind. Death, as far as I know, does not cause you to lose anything. You will respawn at the nearest save spot, and all enemies will be resurrected. Stuff found on enemies or in breakable objects can be crafted into ammo or health, but it's far preferable to sell materials. There is only one trader on the airship who is constantly available and occasionally appears in battle sections. New weapons are expensive, but worth the trouble. In the end, the battle system is functional yet monotonous. Melee works well against practically every basic enemy because they don't move quickly. The majority of them can even be cheesed by striking them through walls or fences. Bigger foes and bosses, on the other hand, pose an unfair challenge. They hit a larger area and are difficult to avoid. The main culprit for this is their attack animation; you might dodge the attack but still get hurt because you touch the enemy before the animation is over. The game has different endings depending on your actions. If you want to take a different route, there's a new game plus that allows you to keep inventory and stats. Although enemies grow more difficult, forming relationships proceeds more quickly since upgraded stats allow you to choose from a wider range of choices. Except for visual issues, I haven't encountered any game-breaking bugs. Also, achievements and "quit" button are not working. Force-quit is the only way to exit the game.
