About
What is White Room Protocol?
In White Room Protocol, you step into the mind of Jesse, who participates in an experimental memory-erasure program. Starting from a sterile white room, you follow him into his deepest and most disturbing memory. But will Jesse be able to erase that terrifying moment from his past by simulating it again in the protocol?
ATMOSPHERE-FOCUSED HORROR
White Room Protocol not only scares you; it constantly keeps your mind under pressure. The growing tension with every step gradually destroys your sense of safety. Details hidden in dark corners and unexpected sounds carve the story piece by piece into your mind.
ENVIRONMENTAL STORYTELLING
Instead of long dialogues, discover the story through the objects around you, the arrangement of the environment, and the atmosphere. Hair-raising sounds, distorted television images, and environmental changes let you complete the story in your own mind.
HIDDEN PUZZLES
Puzzles are solved with objects hidden in different corners of the house. Notes, old items, or small, inconspicuous signs reveal the key to progress when pieced together correctly. Careful observation and logical connections uncover the dark secrets of the past.
UNENDING THREAT
The danger is not only in the dark… it’s behind you. Silent corridors echo with sudden footsteps. Sometimes you see only a shadow; other times you feel a presence close enough to hear your own breath.

White Room Protocol had a story concept that felt genuinely refreshing. You play as someone undergoing a form of experimental therapy, where a machine helps erase traumatic memories—but only by forcing you to relive them first. Which… yeah. That already tells you how this is going to go. What actually happened in the character’s past is never fully explained, and I’ll be honest—it was a bit confusing at times. There’s a house, a man with an axe, blood everywhere… so it’s pretty clear that someone close to him was killed in a very brutal way. The game leaves a lot up to interpretation, which might work for some players, but for me it felt a little too vague. Overall, I’d say the game was okay—and more importantly, it has a lot of potential. The concept alone could easily support multiple chapters, each following a different person going through the White Room Protocol to erase their own painful memories. Different characters, different locations, different stories every time? That would’ve been fantastic. If this is meant to be a first installment with more to come, then honestly? Hell yeah—I’m interested. But if this is the complete, fully finished experience and it’s going to stay exactly as it is… then it feels like it could’ve been so much more. Did I like it? Yes. Am I glad I played it? Also yes. Would I recommend it if someone asked me for a really good horror game to play? …Probably not. That said, it’s not bad for what it is. It just feels like the foundation of something bigger that hasn’t quite been built yet.
If you're looking for a game to rapidly increase your heart rate and make your palms sweaty af, this is the game. The sound effects to the jumpscares and the 1st person views is what makes this game so scary. I almost didn't make it tbh LOL.
its not that good

I have played a TON of indie horror games over the years and the great majority of these I would not recommend for anyone to play on Steam. However, I can most definitely recommend this one, especially at this price. The scares are very well done and perfectly placed. It really seems like a lot of thought went into designing the scares. Graphics are also good and the game is well optimized. The only thing I would have liked more is for the game to last longer with a manual save function and a way to disable headbob, even though the headbob effect is really not that bad. Overall, this is a solid classic horror experience that should be in every horror fan's game library in my opinion.
White Room Protocol bills itself as this tense, atmospheric or psychological horror title, but unfortunately there just isn't anything tense about it. If you're familiar with horror in any way, you see where it's going before it gets there; sometimes that's a good thing and leads to this slow trainwreck sensation, but there isn't any payoff for that to work here and the end result is this lackluster experience that lands flat. The game does very little to build atmospheric tension, except some flickering lights - which, to the dev, next time please consider making the flicker cycle a little longer because the lights flickering every 5 seconds or so gave me a headache ngl. You're basically just searching the home for hidden objects, while jumpscares happen around you. None of the "puzzles" are particularly challenging, nor is there a sense of danger or urgency while you search. It's just rifling through drawers or cabinets until you find what you're looking for, or having to go mess around with the power for the 3rd time. The story is, bluntly, fairly trite and has little separating it from your average indie horror jumpscare-heavy title. And despite saying in the description the environment tells the story with no long dialogues.... the whole thing is comprised of dialogue or written notes that tell the story as opposed to the environment implying it. You don't really glean anything of what the narrative is about on your own, because this game in general has the subtlety of a brick. I will give Lefto props, the
chase was a pretty cool segment with all the elements of the house looped and rearranged in a new way.
I also appreciated the few bits where you see
your dad's red eyes out of the window or in the darkness for a second before they vanish,
and I wish there was more of that subtle feeling of being watched or followed rather than the overt in your face
bloody handprints and him appearing directly in front of you.
All this being said, the game is only $4 and can be completed in about a half hour (this is a good thing btw, shorter games with worse graphics n all that). You might enjoy it if you're a fan of big blockbuster horror movies like Paranormal Activity and the like, or if you're looking for an escape room-like experience. But if you were hoping for something a little more on the subtle, psychological side, you can safely pass on this.
Saying no, but really it's more of a mix. For $4, sure. I got what I paid for. Story's predictable and underwhelming. The twist is kinda lame and you can see it coming a mile away. Honestly the game gives me mad Tungulus vibes. But again, if you need a cheap and short horror game, this may be the one for you.
