Whisperstring was a chat program developed by &&&$$$SSS66 (pronounced “And-Es-Six”) and released in the late 1980s. While it never gained the popularity of its IRC-based counterparts, it did have a small community of enthusiasts. Instead of focusing on chat rooms, it connected two random strangers who could chat one-on-one. While the mentioned enthusiasts are by now mostly non-existent, our team has decided to preserve the software and make it compatible with modern computers. Feel free to give it a try, and maybe you’ll soon join us as part of the (hopefully) growing team of Whisperstring enthusiasts! To quote the wise words of &&&$$$SSS66: “Don't forget that you'll be talking to a real person. Don't be a dick. [...] Have fun!”
You can listen to and download the soundtrack for free on bandcamp.
Command line processing: Interact with the game world by typing text commands.
Puzzles: Explore Adam's "prison", use items, and decipher clues to progress through the story.
Player agency: Different text prompts allow you to infuse the main character with your own personality.

Whisperstring is a really fun experience. The puzzles are well-crafted, the art style is charming, and the soundtrack perfectly complements the mood. If you're a fan of text adventures with a strong narrative, this one is definitely worth playing! Highly recommended!
Short little horror text adventure with a funny, slightly self-absorbed protagonist (subject?). I had to get up and turn on a light about halfway through because I was not playing with those mini jumpscares. All in all, I really liked it and I'm about to jump into my next run to get all the achievements!

Damn. That gave me goosebumbs. Its a short but good Text Adventure. Recomended for all Text Adventures and Horror Fans
An escape room puzzle with an extra degree of separation: you tell a random guy trapped in a room what to do. The final twist becomes obvious the moment Adam reads a paper with certain instructions. Which happens pretty early in the game. At this point whoever we're playing as should realise the only winning move is not to play and quit the chat. Sadly, that's not an option. Still, the overall concept is interesting and the puzzles are pretty well-made. Certainly worth a quick playthrough.
god
This was a fun (albeit short) little horror game that makes good use of the chat room/text adventure combination to make a pretty cool experience. I hope to see more from the developer and I encourage them to continue making stuff like this.
Whisperstring is a horror game where you use a chat room to help a person that is trap in a room as you tell him what to do to get him out of the room it was a cool game idea but it just was a ok game it got a little boring and the pasting of the game is slow did play it all the way and to get all the game achievement it not a bad game but too me it was just boring
不看攻略根本没法与adam有效对话。姑且还算有趣吧?
Omg. The twist at the end? I definitely should have expected something like that but I did NOT. That was GOOD. LOVE this spooky game omg
Reviewing every game I own #184 Neat premise and it actually feels creepy but the writing sucks and the gameplay sucks (for a text based game). Would have helped to pace how fast and how much adam speaks.
