Is it cheating to write a review for a game with your name in the credits? Maybe I don't know. What I DO know is that When It Hits the Fan is a fantastic return to top down 90s arcade shooters. Playing this game will make you feel like you're playing a real arcade game, which is supported considering that the game actually does have an arcade port. The game is fast paced and difficult. It's also very fair, the camera makes sure nothing ever sneaks up on you that you couldn't expect. The replayability is probably the best part of them game. I've played through the game a countless number of times and not once did I ever get bored with the game. The game's branching paths, secrets, extras, and fun to learn level design keep you on your feet even through 10-20 playthroughs. This is very much the game that is fun to learn and master. Achievments are another positive that this game has going for it. The game sets achievements in a really smart way. While you have some that are grindy like your "kill a brazillan* enemies with the laser cannon" are present. However, most of the achievments are stepping stones to help the player learn and master the game. By giving increasingly difficult goals, players who are hoping to 100% the game are going to improve dramatically because of these set goals. All in all, When It Hits the Fan is not only a fantastic blast to the past, but it has a leg to stand on its own. I am glad to have been able to beta test for When It Hits the Fan and be involved in the development.
Old school arcade twin stick couch co op shoot 'em up ACTION! Get ready to press-start-to-continue until your thumbs bleed, divorce your significant other for stealing your lives, and cry like a baby after smashing your TV/monitor/window. IT JUST HIT THE FAN AND YOU'RE UP KID(S).
Fun, old school, bullet hell shoot 'em up. Nothing is more satisfying than mowing down countless enemies. If you like those types of games you will love this one.
It was a good game. Reminds me of Smash TV with same controls. Only problems I had were: * Too much stuff on the screen, so you miss things coming at your character. * Spawning sometimes at not where I die. * When my mrs died she had to wait until I died to come back which wasn't fun for her.
I played this game when it came out and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you like simple yet fun arcade shooter games, definitely give this a try! It has cool levels, fun weapons, interesting enemy designs, beautiful music and great bosses. And if you've got a buddy over at your house, it's a ton of fun playing together! Also plenty of achievements and challenges to complete.
Got to 2nd area in coop, stopped taking input from controller and keyboard, had to alt+f4. Don't waste your time. Also it's one of these games that doesn't recognize controllers if they're turned on after the game launches, so remote play together doesn't work, if you decide to waste your time on this and want to do so in online coop, you'll have to use Parsec.
Played through the first 2 episodes of the game so far, loving it. If you are fan of the old school games like Contra and SmashTV, this is a fantastic game. Definitely a lot of heart has gone into this game and you can feel it, when you play it. Was looking for a twin stick shooter take on those old games and this was closest so far on steam.
Smash TV meets Total Carnage. A fun little game But a bit messy
Solid arcade-like game.
One of the best twinstick bullet hells I've ever played. Also, probably the hardest I've ever played that wasnt just unfair. 10/10, would die again....and again...and again.
