What's the Password?

I think this is a "recommend, but not for me". A lot more rebus puzzles and than I was expecting, and I think some of the solutions were abstract in ways where I didn't feel clever for solving them - just frustrated. However, I also know there are people that LOVE this style of thinking (see: the Blue Prince gallery puzzle). It's just doesn't spark joy for my brain.

Loved this game. Every puzzle is just the right level of challenge. The meta puzzles towards the end are particularly clever. Well worth your time!

I like the idea for this game and I was very excited for its release, but I don't love the execution. Many of the puzzles were too easy and weren't really puzzles, even late in the game. And then a few were very difficult with no real way of coming up with the answer, especially without using the hints. Some of the puzzles were great though, about 20 of them I think were a great challenge and involved real puzzle solving skills, and when they came up it was very fun. But most of them were just "spot 4 numbers on screen". I also do not love the white on black aesthetic, and wish you could change the color palette. But it was not all bad for sure. The song is groovy. It took me about 3 hours total to complete the game which is a good length for game like this. And as I said before, some of the puzzles were great and I felt very proud after figuring some of them out.

What's the Password is a light-hearted, logic puzzle game that is a great game to spend an evening working on. We had a relaxing time going through each puzzle figuring out what the catch was. Some were more straight forward than others but all provided their own little quirks. I would recommend to anyone interested in a couple laughs and eye-rolls.

Its ok. Would only really recommend it if you like a lot of little code puzzles, a lot of which seemed too simple for my taste.

Overall, I had a good time with What's the Password?. It ended up being a great game to play with a group of friends, sitting around the TV and trying to solve puzzles together. Some of the puzzles were genuinely clever and satisfying to figure out, requiring a bit of teamwork and outside-the-box thinking. My biggest issue was the difficulty scaling. It felt completely inconsistent. Some puzzles practically hand you the answer on screen, while others suddenly throw an enormous difficulty spike at you with little warning. The result is a strange pacing where you might solve five puzzles almost instantly, spend twenty minutes stuck on a single puzzle, and then immediately go back to solving several more in under a minute. It never really settles into a steady progression. That said, despite the uneven difficulty curve, we still had a lot of fun with it. In fact, by the time we finished, we wished there were more puzzles to tackle, which is usually a good sign that a game is doing something right. I'd give What's the Password? a 7/10. It's an enjoyable puzzle game with some genuinely clever ideas, but the inconsistent difficulty keeps it from reaching its full potential.
