About
A psychological horror experience created by a team of 5 developers over the course of 4 months, featuring puzzles, immersion, and a unique hand-drawn art style.
In this game, you navigate a snowy cabin. Following a story between a Husband and Wife. Uncovering environmental clues and experiencing an unsettling atmosphere, and quickly realize something is very wrong. The game leverages tense sound design, dynamic lighting, and eerie visual distortions to create a sense of dread. The game is designed to make the player feel disturbed and unsettled.

To emphasize the surreal atmosphere, the radio messages are delivered through an intentionally robotic voice, this was a design choice to help emphasize the uncanny feeling the game can have at certain points.

Very creepy! Love the art style.
Great game; you will be on the edge of your seat the whole time!
The game is beautiful and immersive. I can feel the silent and oppressive atmosphere, which seems to tell me something, but not directly. I need to solve puzzles and explore the environment. Finding a way to find the answer is the core of this game. Feel it and understand it.

Great short atmospheric game. I love the artwork!
no jump scares, just spooky atmosphere and some puzzles, 20 minute playthrough https://youtu.be/IQWAdHQcjyA
I followed this project through its development. Just giving some kudos here to the developers. Great job bringing this game to a releasable state and releasing. Lots of great comments here speaking towards the gameplay and mechanics, so please check them out.
What Lies Frozen is a short narrative puzzle experience built around atmospheric exploration and detail-oriented problem solving. Set in an environment that feels quietly unsettling rather than outright scary, the game uses its sound design — especially the radio clues — to guide your attention and piece together the story. Progression comes from interpreting those audio hints, locating key items, and solving simple yet satisfying environmental puzzles that unlock new memories and areas. It’s not a challenging puzzle game by design, but that simplicity works in its favor; the focus stays on mood, pacing, and the subtle way the world unfolds as you dive deeper into the protagonist’s memories. With a runtime of about 30 minutes, What Lies Frozen delivers a compact, thoughtful experience that’s easy to jump into and enjoyable from start to finish. — The Ember Archives https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45601239/
What lies Frozen is a chilling psychological horror game with a hand-drawn art style and deeply immersive atmosphere. Set in a world that feels emotionally post-apocalyptic. Everything feels fragile, sketched out like a memory on the verge of being lost. The visual style not only stands out artistically but reinforces the theme of psychological fragility. It delivers slow burning tension through clever puzzles and haunting visuals. Minimalist, moody, and memorable. Perfect for fans of atmospheric horror.
When they told me that first time students from college were making this game, I couldn't believe how great the game turn out to be. Would recommend anyone that likes horror games to try this game out.
