About
A psychological horror experience created by a team of 5 developers over the course of 4 months, featuring puzzles, immersion, and a unique hand-drawn art style.
In this game, you navigate a snowy cabin. Following a story between a Husband and Wife. Uncovering environmental clues and experiencing an unsettling atmosphere, and quickly realize something is very wrong. The game leverages tense sound design, dynamic lighting, and eerie visual distortions to create a sense of dread. The game is designed to make the player feel disturbed and unsettled.

To emphasize the surreal atmosphere, the radio messages are delivered through an intentionally robotic voice, this was a design choice to help emphasize the uncanny feeling the game can have at certain points.

Let me start by saying that this is the best game I've ever played! Around each and every corner I found myself lying there FROZEN wondering what could happen next while roaming the unimaginable. A true 1 of 1 game, short and sweet like a candy bar. My only complaint is that is that I couldn't handle how fun it was. Add this one to your library for a sweet little treat.
I really liked this game! The devs did a great job. Art work is amazing. Good job everyone!
10/10 masterpiece, excellent storyline with a tragic ending. What Lies Frozen is a bold and atmospheric indie horror experience that blends survival, exploration, and just enough dread to keep your pulse racing. Developed with a clear passion for the genre, the game excels at creating tension without relying on cheap jumpscares — the fear creeps in slowly, like the frost on the windows. From the opening moments, you feel the isolation. The cold. The sense that something is very wrong beneath the snow. The puzzles are thoughtful, the environment is eerie but captivating, and the monster? Genuinely terrifying. And yet, it’s never unfair — just... unforgiving, in the best way. This is more than just a game — it’s a labor of love. And it shows. A fantastic effort, and I can’t wait to see what this developer does next.

A brief but enjoyable experience with a distinct indie charm. The game is packed with personality, offering engaging puzzles and a thought-provoking narrative that lingers after the credits roll. While there are a few bugs, the developers are actively addressing them with regular patches, showing clear dedication to refining the experience

What Lies Frozen – A Review from the Heart From the very first frame of What Lies Frozen, I knew I was stepping into something unique. This isn’t just another indie horror title—it’s a quiet, brooding piece of interactive art that doesn’t need jump scares or gore to unsettle you. Instead, it relies on the power of suggestion, atmosphere, and emotion. And honestly? It worked. I loved it. The setting—a snow-covered cabin isolated from the world—is simple, but the way it’s portrayed is nothing short of hauntingly beautiful. The hand-drawn textures give the game a fragile, dreamlike feel, as though the entire experience might dissolve if you blink too long. The distorted visual effects and flickering lights aren’t just there for style; they serve the story, constantly making you question what’s real and what’s part of the characters’ unraveling psyches. The story itself is where the game truly shines. On the surface, it’s about a husband and wife stuck in a cabin. But beneath that? It’s about emotional distance, guilt, memory, and silence—the kind of silence that screams at you. The narrative unfolds slowly, deliberately, through environmental storytelling and cryptic radio messages. Those robotic broadcasts gave me chills—not because of what they said, but because of what they didn’t say. That’s the real genius here: this game respects your intelligence. It never spoon-feeds you answers. It trusts you to put the pieces together, and when you do, the payoff hits hard. Gameplay-wise, it's minimalist but immersive. You’re not running from monsters or solving complex puzzles. You’re observing. Remembering. Noticing the small things—an empty crib, a scorched letter, a voice on the radio that doesn’t sound quite right. Every object feels placed with intent. It’s a short experience, yes, but the emotional aftertaste lingers long after the credits roll. Knowing that this game was made by just five people, including my friend Ryphil, makes it all the more impressive. There’s a raw sincerity in What Lies Frozen that you rarely find in polished, studio-produced titles. You can feel the care that went into each asset, each line of code, each sound effect. It’s the kind of game that feels personal, and that’s rare—and beautiful. If you’re someone who loves story-driven games, if you appreciate subtle horror that gets under your skin without screaming in your face, and if you like coming away from a game with more questions than answers—What Lies Frozen is for you. It’s a quiet storm, and I loved every minute of it. Ps, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XHv38TcrJo
Great game!
What Lies Frozen is a very fun and well developed game with a good amount of problem solving. This game is unique, by using the same area's changing something every time you go in, making it more eerie, excellent story with a sad ending. 10/10 would recommend giving it a go.
The game is beautiful and immersive. I can feel the silent and oppressive atmosphere, which seems to tell me something, but not directly. I need to solve puzzles and explore the environment. Finding a way to find the answer is the core of this game. Feel it and understand it.
Great game and content. Highly recommend this game. The art and music are perfect. It all ties in nicely.
