Welcome to Elderfield

Ich hätte wirklich nie gedacht, dass ich mal so begeistert von einem Spiel mit Horror-Elementen sein würde, aber Welcome to Elderfield hat mich komplett gepackt! Normalerweise kann ich mit Horror überhaupt nichts anfangen und meide solche Spiele eher. Hier ist dieser Aspekt für mich aber erstaunlich gut auszuhalten und fügt sich sehr passend in die gesamte Atmosphäre ein. Vor allem die Geschichte von Elderfield, die Vergangenheit der Stadt und die Geschichten der einzelnen Bewohner machen unglaublich neugierig. Man möchte einfach immer mehr darüber erfahren, was hier passiert ist, welche Geheimnisse die Leute mit sich herumtragen und was hinter all dem steckt. Was mir außerdem richtig gut gefällt, ist der Farming-Aspekt. Es fühlt sich nicht einfach nur wie das nächste bekannte Farming-System an, sondern bringt auch eigene und neue Ideen mit. Es gibt interessante Pflanzen und Tiere zu entdecken, die man so nicht schon aus jedem anderen Farming-Spiel kennt, und genau das macht das Ganze für mich besonders spannend. Man hat dadurch ständig das Gefühl, noch etwas Neues finden oder ausprobieren zu können. Diese Mischung aus Farming, Erkundung, den Geschichten der Bewohner und der geheimnisvollen Atmosphäre funktioniert für mich einfach extrem gut. Gerade weil Horror normalerweise überhaupt nicht mein Genre ist, sagt es einiges aus, dass ich trotzdem immer weiterspielen und unbedingt mehr über Elderfield erfahren möchte. Welcome to Elderfield ist für mich eine richtig positive Überraschung und definitiv eines dieser Spiele, bei denen man plötzlich viel mehr Zeit verbringt als eigentlich geplant. Absolute Empfehlung!

Good mix of horror elements with stardew valley's farming. Very pleasantly surprised! Have yet to dive deeper into the story as I'm more farming and doing sidequests but loving it so far. Just taking it slow and doing everything on my own pace. Characters are fun too and the designs overall are amazing!

This game is an absolute blast. It's packed full of quests, mechanics, adventure, progression, all with a Welcome to Nightvale-meets-Junji Ito vibe. Soundtrack is excellent, art design is incredible, and it never feels like you're chained to your farm.

i played the game when it was still only on patreon and itchio and i loved it for a year or so. its basically a spooky stardew valley esque game. the combat parts aren't super hard once you get the hang of it and i like the dice rolls and luck mechanism. its not exactly stardew coded even though i compared the two. but i would def recommend.

After their demo, I was so excited for the full release. This games has clearly been made by a passionate community of lovecraftian horror enthusiasts who enjoy a cozy farming sim without the predictability, and with a hefty serving of dread. 18 hours in, it has been like the proverbial turning of the screw and I cannot get enought. While it includes the usual aspects of cozy faming sims (fishing, mining, relationship building, cooking, and ofc farming), it Eldritch blasts through the predictability and rigamorale that go along with them. The combination of (at times) punishing battles and mystery solving with the deep sense of atmospheric dread and unique soundtrack and visuals... This is the game I've personally been looking for. It does not hand you everything on a platter but beckons you deeper into the darkness sometimes in the most torturous of ways (the basic axe quest was diabolical). It is sweet torture and I'm here for the it! May the Old Gods grant the people who crafted this wonderfully witty, ominous and puzzling game success. I'm so keen to see how people receive it and its horrifying mutations (updates) :D
