I think you should just skip the first Katamari's remake and go with this one. It's a smooth 60 FPS instead of 30 (which really went a long way for me), it feels like there are 50x as many unique levels and challenges, which get really crazy really fast, and it just feels like the Katamari I know and love from when I was a kid. The first installment in comparison felt small and dim, a proof-of-concept. Love this game
I played the original Katamari Damacy. This is a must play if you like the original. For other people that haven't, you need to try it. Give it a fair shot and you will probably find yourself having the time of your life. It is weird and that is what I love about this game.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

EXCELLENT
This is such a beautifully designed game. For the uninitiated to the pure unfiltered genius of Mr. Takahashi, here is an example of how revolutionary this game is: when you quit the game all the little people on the map and your character waves goodbye, its so cute!
they cooked on this one fun to play with my wife
Good thing it work with a controller, play with keyboard and mouse will drive you nuts. Don't really enjoy the game, personal opinion.
very good
We LOVE Katamari Damacy! i've played every game in the katamari series, and this is the one that i come back to the most... the original that is. this is a very faithful and true remake of we love katamari from the ps2 to modern platforms, and thats all it needs to be. my main complaints are where it tries to deviate from the original experience, specifically the royal reverie bonus content. 5 bonus levels...? i was expecting at least a 10 level campaign with 3 cutscenes. maybe i had my expectations too high, but 5 time trial gimmick levels felt a bit disappointing. granted, gimmicks are good and keep things fresh. but besides the boxer stage, none of them stood out to me quite like some of the ORIGINAL katamari damacy stages. the former king of all cosmos writing also feels kinda bland, but maybe thats the point of an emotionally unavailable character. i think i would recommend Katamari Damacy Reroll over this experience, but only so that i can further recommend you this game and fully appreciate the quality of life changes and fixes this game brings. solid 8.5/10 remake of a 9.5/10 game. definitely pick this game up on sale though.
Read my review for "Katamari Damacy REROLL," the remake of the first game in the Katamari series. My thoughts on this one are pretty much the exact same! This remake of the second game in the Katamari series is amazing. Just like with the first game, I sadly haven't played the original PS2 version yet. I don't really think it matters which version you play, since this remake seems to be pretty faithful to the original. This game took everything that the first game did very well, and made it even better! Once again, it's spewing with so much love and creativity. Anything that Keita Takahashi (the creator of Katamari) creates is so wonderful and wholesome. We could always use some more positivity in this world! I'm pretty sure Takahashi wasn't involved in these "reroll" remakes of the first two Katamari games. He didn't copyright his ideas and Bandai Namco owns the rights to Katamari. My point is, support him! His latest game is called "To a T." There's also "Wattam," which is on Steam. He's also behind "Crankin's Time Travel Adventure" on the Panic Playdate console.
A great oldy, never played the original, really enjoyed this really special game.
