This game is absolutely amazing ! I'm sure it will have a big future, Mixing RTS and Battle Royale is a revolutionary idea, wich I hope could lead to a big community. You can have much fun with it and you can also play in multiplayer, wich is an awesome idea if you wanna make friends or show your skill to other people. I hope this tactical and strategy game can grow up to show it's potential :D ! I really recommend this game to people who love RTS & Battle Royale.
Fantastic concept ! As an avid boardgame player I was waiting this for eons. Has solo (with NON CHEATIN IA), but for me nuts is multiplayer obviously. Game length is perfect also, not too short but long enough to get a real strategy (before seeing waves crushing everything 😉. Developer is very very active, and update with community advices. Come on guy, stop sleeping and push your game h24 !
Bon jeu! A essayer en multi pour en tirer le meilleur. J'ai essayé avec 3 autres amis, gros brawl grâce au système de BR assuré.
Waves of the Atlantide is a game that's surprisingly a lot more strategic than I anticipated. The gameplay feels a tad bit like Risk, but with some city-building and a battle royale-like twist, in which its grids will decay over time (different tiles will have different rates of decay) and collapse into the sea regardless of whatever that's on them, be it a bunch of troops or a city.
Pros & Cons
Pros + Very unique and strategic gameplay that's really easy to get into but can be hard to master. I'm a fan of both strategy games (RT and turn-based) and Risk, and have played my fair share of them. I thought I've seen them all... but apparently not :P + Matches end rather quickly. Within my 40-minute Let's Play video - I've gone through the story intro and the tutorial, lost a match, and won a match :) + AIs come in different difficulty levels. Best start with easy and work your way up from there. + For some reason, I just love watching the grids crumble into the sea. Amazing animation here! + Has a simple tech tree + Has extra defending perk if you "Station" your units on a tile prior to a battle. + Has multiplayer mode Cons - [Possible bug] Selecting troops sometimes don't work for some reason. Selecting your city that has some troops stationed on it can be quite difficult as well, especially when time is of the essence! - The game can still be improved graphically. The graphics for cities just pale in comparison to the lush forests and sparkly seas. Maybe add some color to the drab-looking cities/villages, like tiny wheat farms around the village? The roof of the building in the village can be changed as well just so it has a bit of contrast against the brown grids. - The tutorial can be made more interactive - Everything's already there. Just need to turn all those texts into shorter dialogues and let the player carry out the instructions. - Multiplayer is dead unfortunately, and there's just so many times you can play against the AI. - No campaign mode; only customizable (limited choices) skirmishes Suggestions to help keep things fresh and fun * Maybe add new game modes or unique map requirements? Other random events maybe? * Adding different unit types?
Watch me play!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_nWG6cw6wI - Played like a newb in my first match, but not so much in the second match :) Tips ~ As mentioned by the tutorial, you'll want to expand your empire as fast as you can because building new cities will allow you to accumulate more resources quicker than through upgrades (since upgrade costs increase drastically as your city becomes more advanced). However, having larger empires means it can be quite difficult to defend them all, which is fine because you can just recapture the cities you've lost. ~ Note that you'll need to colonize surrounding territories before you can place your new cities - I've missed this part causing me to lose my first match :P ~ Instead of investing in Material Production, you'll want to invest more heavily into Food Production because 1. You'll want to amass as many armies as you can and each unit you recruit require food, and 2. Your huge armies will drain your food supply fast (via upkeep) - note the red and green text under the food icon. Red = upkeep and green = food gain - you'll want to get a net positive. ~ Once your army is pretty sizeable (as compared to your opponents'), start attacking your opponents' land and make a beeline for their cities. By capturing their cities, you'll instantly gain all the extra Material and Food production from the captured city. ~ For the tech tree, under the Army section, you might want to focus on tech that can reduce army upkeep. ~ Rather than facing the bulk of the enemy's armies directly, which can also be very costly in terms of resources, I'd recommend using Guerrilla warfare strategy instead. Nipping at their cities and at their smaller armies work great.
Overall
I just love how much "Risk" vibes I'm getting from Waves of Atlantide and yet, the gameplay is definitely not 100% Risk. The game also incorporated elements of city-building and battle royale (as in the environment is working against you). Matches are short too, so you can hop in for a quick session or two (seems like the game's designed with mobile gamers in mind), but unfortunately, the online multiplayer mode is pretty much dead at the moment, so you'd probably play a couple of rounds against the AIs, up until the highest difficulty, and then there's nothing else for you to do. Cool game ! Still needs improvement but the base settings are great. Multiplayer is really fun with some pals. Would love to see some Workshop integration to mod it. Tutorial section could be more intereactive but does the job.
Fun game with lots of potential: You have to manage your resources, your troops and cities against your opponents and the environment. Multiplayer is really cool with some friends. Good idea to keep game short. Glad to support a passionate indie developer !
A fun game with an interesting concept. Core mechanics are really interesting and pleasant. The multiplayer mode is perfect to have fun with friends. There are still some bugs, but the developers seem to work hard on it. I recommend !
Tu veux cliquer? Tu veux tapper? Tu veux tuer? Ce jeu est fait pour toi! Soit le dernier roi de la colline et regarde couler tes adversaires.
I have to say this is an awesome concept, and the dev is extremely active. I've never seen such insane dedication before. Please support this devs they deserve it !
