Wave of Time provides a pleasant change from the usual HOGs through its uncharacteristic theme and unconventional puzzles. Say goodbye to old chestnuts like murder investigations, creepy asylums or fantastic myths and say hello to a fully oriented sci-fi story with some crazy elements - time travel, brain controlled reptiles, a bridezilla are only a few to name. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2398265253 Right from the beginning, the game grabs your interest with a mysterious plot - you play as a young lady whose aunt started to disappear from the family pictures. Together with your friend, you go to your aunt’s house to investigate her whereabouts only to find… a portal to the past. By first visiting the past, and then going to the future, you seek to unravel this enigma, but also help other characters that you meet on your path. It might sound like a pretty ordinary plot, but the storyline is fairly long and has lots of unexpected twists that will keep you entertained until the very end. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2398265075 Wave of Time is a puzzle-heavy game. It does have hidden object scenes (of the classic type with lists of items), yet these are far less than the sheer amount of minigames that you will encounter. Basically at every step there’s a new puzzle to solve; most of them are easy (I can recall only a couple that took me more than 30 seconds) and largely different from what you can find in other HOGs. There are a lot of arcade-type minigames, while some other puzzles even have an educational aspect - for example you need to identify the country on the map based on its shape, or to match some symbolic items with the country flags that they correspond to. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2398265155 The graphics are nicely drawn, yet a bit outdated - they don’t raise up to the standards imposed by newer HOGs but the scenery is beautifully painted with clear and vibrant colors and the hidden object scenes are also well done. The relaxing ambient music is pretty good as well, changing from scene to scene. Overall, Wave of Time is a fun game to play, and definitely worth a third of the price you’d otherwise pay for an Artifex Mundi title of a similar length (3-4h). My only complaint is that the game does not have Steam achievements and will most likely never have them implemented. During your journey, you accidentally leave behind a textbook on modern physics, and when you return to your present time, you see that the world has changed dramatically. Will you be able to find your aunt and restore the time continuum? A great socio-critical adventure story awaits you. A modern gameplay enhances the game enormously. There are some hidden objects, but the game mainly consists of mini-games that really deserve the name. Very well done, but overall more for advanced users. You can skip everything if it's too difficult for you or you don't like it. Technically speaking, I like the partially animated game surfaces much better than most games of this type. The illustrations in which you play are predominantly a dystropic cyberpunk environment. I like it. That's my rating too. I like it. My playtime: 3.9h (based on steam)
Intro
Wave of Time is a hidden object game with a lot of minigames and hidden object scenes. Pros: - Various hidden object scenes - A lot of minigames - Hint and skip button in case you're stuck Cons: - Delay between dialogue progression - Time-limited games are annoying - Hitbox to move between areas is too small
Should you buy this game?
Yes. To be honest, the game is not really that good, but it's not bad either. If you like minigames and hidden object scenes, feel free to buy this whenever it's heavily discounted. Feel free to skip it if you're not interested in the genre as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In-Depth Review

Graphics
Wave of Time has a similar look to Artifex Mundi games at first glance, with realistic-looking graphics and beautiful landscapes. However, dialogues feel a bit odd since you mostly won't see any characters that you talk to on the screen. Some part of the scenes also loads slowly that you can see a chunk of image fading in when you zoom a certain scene in detail. The game also doesn't seem to portray the characters properly. Characters look differently between cutscenes and it took a while for me to recognize them. Speaking of cutscenes, all of them stutters. Luckily, cutscenes don't have an interesting point besides the visual.
Story
The game tells its story in either cutscenes or dialogues. Dialogues can be skipped with the mouse's left-click although there is a delay before the dialogue changes, which sometimes ruins the experience. Although all dialogues are dubbed, I found some dialogues that don't match between the text and the voice. There are also some broken English that is hard to understand. The story-telling needs some improvement. A diary, which acts as a summary of the story, gives more information than the dialogue itself. The story also makes more sense if you read the diary whenever a new entry is added. Some plotholes still remain in the story though and some dialogues feel a bit off because of that.
The game
Point-and-click This game has a simple point-and-click as its basic gameplay where you need to find some objects lying on the ground and use it to unlock minigames and hidden object scenes. However, some interactable objects are not obvious enough even though I already used my mouse to hover most of the areas to see any items that I could take or any scenes that I could zoom. Luckily, the game has a hint button that you can use to locate these objects. The early game relies on using an object to another object in point-and-click style to advance. I found that one solution doesn't make sense at this stage although the game covers it up by relying the rest of the game on "emblems" as an object to unlock either minigames or hidden object scenes. Hidden Objects Hidden object scenes are usually started with the search of red, blue, and green objects, which are different in each scene, to unlock a set of keywords that are needed to locate. However, the game failed to mention this part and I was confused a bit about how to proceed. Some objects require you to combine with a different object to collect, some require you to finish a minigame, while some are just lying around for you to find. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2246738873 There is also a variation of hidden object scenes where you have to find a lot of certain objects on the screen. While these are usually easy, some scenes are cheap enough to hide some of its objects below other objects that blend with the background. Luckily, the game has a hint button that you can use to uncover those last tricky spots. Minigames This game has a lot of minigames. Some minigames are a simpler form of other games such as snake and match 3, while some are just simple puzzles that require a bit of thinking to solve. Most minigames are easy to learn although some annoying ones require you to finish it within a time limit. Luckily, there is a skip button that is available after a certain time has passed in case you wish to skip it. Difficulty The game has 3 difficulties that you can select in the option. Difficulty only affects the hint button recharge time although it's somehow written as "download of tips" in the game despite that there is no "download" or "tips" term mentioned in the game. Length and difficulty I finished the game in 3.9h and used the rest of my playtime to try to finish a bonus minigame, which I failed to beat. Luckily, the bonus minigame isn't required to finish the game since it's only located in the minigames section in the main menu. Problems It's hard to move between areas since you need to find a button that has a small hitbox near the end of the screen. There is also a long delay when you move between scenes, which ruins the experience. The delay might also be caused by my spec though. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2246738933 One minigame,
the raptor shooting
one, has a bug where bullets are somehow stopped after a while despite me holding down the left mouse button to rapid-fire. Sometimes the game also doesn't run smoothly whenever I took an object in the early game.
Specs
Intel Core i5-3317U 1.7GHz, 4GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000
Conclusion
It's a hidden object game with a lot of minigames. Most point-and-click features are bare-bones, although functional. To be honest, the minigames and hidden object scenes are satisfying enough if you don't mind the rest.
Too many timed games if like me you don't have the speed and co-ordination to beat them.... very frustrating and unusual for a HOG adventure. Disappointed.

After all, she looked after you every summer when you were a child, at her beautiful mansion located in the Alps. Then the strangest thing started happening . . . . your aunt’s image on every photo you had of her started to disappear. When you’d talk to people about her, they’d look perplexed, and always answer the same way. . . You don’t have an aunt! So, you took the matter into your own hands and decided to travel back with your friend Mike to your aunt’s place in the Alps in an attempt to solve this strange mystery. There you discovered a mechanical glove that opens a portal through time. Will this apparatus help you discover why your Aunt seems to have disappeared from history? Let’s find out, in Wave of Time. Wave of Time is a casual hidden objects adventure game developed by Itera Laboratories and Published by HH-Games on the 16 of September 2020 on the Steam platform. The game has three levels of difficulty - Easy, Normal and Difficult - each one related to the speed with which the hint button regenerates after each time you use it when you find yourself stuck somewhere. In the Easy difficulty, the hint button will renew itself instantly, whereas it will take a certain amount of time to regenerate if you play on the highest difficulty. After selecting your difficulty and viewing a short introduction, you are right there with your friend, Mike, at your aunt’s doorstep. You’ll be visiting four destinations, including the Alps. The other three will either send you back in time or into the future. Each destination has between two and eight locations, where you have to move back and forth to find items to resolve small puzzles. You’ll also have several hidden objects scenes, which are really fun to play. Additionally, there are 12 mini-games to play throughout this game. Most are really straightforward, but a few will make your grey matter work a bit, which is always welcoming. What I also appreciate is the fact that these mini-games are well placed within the story, creating a bit of freshness throughout the game. It will take you around four to four and a half hours to finish the game, which is not bad at all for a hidden objects game. As you would expect, point and click is the main mechanism in such a game and I found it really responsive each time. Having said that, you will find yourself hovering over most of the images to find the next item, with the exception of the main hidden objects scenes and mini-games. Nice and colourful graphics. The story is fun and there is voice narration all the way through. I did experience a crash during my gameplay, which occurred when I reloaded my saved game. Apart from that, the game worked well. Positives: ~~~~~~~ + Nice, colourful graphics + Three levels of difficulty + Fun story which is voice narrated all the way through + Nice combinations of Hidden object scenes and mini-games Negatives: ~~~~~~~~ - Experienced a crash after reloading a game - No achievements or trading cards at this stage It will take you from the present to the past and the future to solve the mystery of your aunt Miranda in Wave of Time! 6/10 Key provided by the developer/publisher for review purposes. English version below.
Waardering: 8/10. English version. Aunt Miranda's mysterious disappearance marks the beginning of a casual and relaxed science fiction adventure. Experienced time travelers immediately understand where a capital mistake is being made, which puts us (the players) and the world in great trouble and humanity on the edge of extinction.
Leonardo Da Vinci plays a questionable role in this.
But 'Wave of Time' has to run its own course and we can't fix the error until the end of the game. 'Wave of Time' offers everything you can expect from a Hidden Object Game. In addition to the search games, there is a very large number of mini games. These are not very difficult, but sometimes frustrating because you just don't click fast enough with your mouse. By the way, part of the minigames can be played again via the main menu. 'Wave of Time' has no spoken audio, but that is probably not to be expected given the purchase price of 4€. Background music and sound effects can be turned up or down according to taste. 'Wave of Time' has a big disadvantage: there are no achievements to unlock. On the one hand, this makes the game relaxed (no minigame within a minute, no search game within 30 seconds, no hint, etc.), on the other hand, it also reduces the challenge. Also missing are trading cards. All in all, 'Wave of Time' is a fun game and I can definitely recommend it. Rating: 8/10.
This game is fun, but also an inconsistent mess! The story is original and interesting, but also complete nonsense. The English translation is ridiculously bad. The puzzle mini-games are all over the place: some are trivial wastes of time, some are intriguing little casual games, and a few involve annoying time-sensitive mouse maneuvering. The music is some of the worst I've ever experienced in a hidden-object game. Consider playing with music off! So, why am I still giving this game a thumbs up? Because it's greater than the sum of its awkward parts. There's a lot of content and the nonsensical story makes for some delightfully weird encounters. I had fun. Pet peeve: please don't make your villains the only overweight characters in your story. It's a common trope that evil means unattractive, but it's also lazy and insulting writing.
