At this time, I can't make a recommendation on this game. The controls are a huge deal breaker right now. I SWEAR I'm hitting the right timing, but for whatever reason, it keeps missing. There needs to be a calibration option or something, because it's near impossible to make a recommendation when the simple act of moving during the fighting sequences causes issues. I can play other rhythm games just fine. Heck, I was able to do several songs in DDR on heavy mode (even doubles play), but this.....this isn't good. Other rhythm games I can do well in include the likes of necrodancer (the direct inspiration for this title) and beat saber. I have no trouble with rhythm, but this game....I just can't get the calibration down and keep missing notes when I clearly have the beat correct.
fun little game but i'm having trouble with the she kissed me to death achievement? any clue.
Waifus Smash is an indie action-adventure game developed and published by Galart that combines rhythmic combat, light role-playing progression, environmental puzzles, and anime-inspired character collecting into a colorful fantasy adventure. Instead of concentrating on a single gameplay style, the game merges several familiar mechanics into a straightforward experience that emphasizes exploration and constant progression. While its anime presentation immediately catches the eye, the title offers more than visual appeal by encouraging players to master combat timing, uncover hidden areas, and steadily unlock new companions throughout their journey. Combat serves as the game's defining feature thanks to its rhythm-oriented mechanics. Rather than encouraging endless button mashing, encounters reward players who synchronize their attacks with the intended rhythm, creating battles that feel more deliberate and engaging. This mechanic adds a refreshing twist to otherwise familiar action gameplay and gives each fight a greater sense of involvement. Although the rhythm system remains accessible enough for newcomers, it still requires attention and consistency, making victories feel earned without becoming overly punishing. Combined with RPG progression that gradually improves the protagonist's abilities, combat maintains a satisfying balance between skill and character growth. Exploration contributes just as much to the experience as the battles themselves. Each environment contains secrets, alternate paths, and collectible rewards that encourage players to look beyond the primary objective. Puzzle segments appear regularly to interrupt the action, offering simple but enjoyable challenges that rely on observation rather than reflexes. These sections help vary the pacing, preventing the adventure from becoming a nonstop series of battles while giving players additional reasons to investigate every corner of the game's world. As new abilities and upgrades become available, revisiting previously explored areas can also become rewarding. One of the strongest incentives to continue playing is the collection of numerous anime-inspired waifus. Unlocking these characters provides a steady sense of accomplishment while complementing the game's overall progression system. Each character is presented with colorful artwork and distinct visual styling that appeals to fans of anime aesthetics. Although character collection is primarily a reward rather than a deeply strategic gameplay system, it succeeds in motivating exploration and completion, giving players tangible goals beyond simply finishing the main adventure. Visually, Waifus Smash embraces a vibrant cartoon-inspired art direction filled with bright colors and expressive character designs. The environments may not feature cutting-edge graphical detail, but they maintain a consistent visual identity that fits the game's lighthearted atmosphere. Character animations are responsive enough to support the rhythm-based combat, while the user interface remains uncluttered and easy to navigate. The presentation demonstrates that strong artistic consistency can often be more effective than technical realism, especially for an indie production with a clear creative vision. The audio design complements the gameplay particularly well. Music naturally plays an important role because of the rhythm mechanics, helping players establish the timing needed during combat encounters. Sound effects provide satisfying feedback for successful attacks and interactions, reinforcing the overall flow of gameplay. While the soundtrack may not leave a lasting impression outside the game itself, it fulfills its purpose by supporting both exploration and action without becoming repetitive or distracting. Despite its enjoyable mechanics, Waifus Smash does have limitations. Players looking for an intricate narrative or a highly complex RPG system may find the overall experience relatively straightforward. Some enemy encounters and gameplay objectives eventually begin to repeat, particularly during longer play sessions. The puzzle design also favors accessibility over challenge, meaning experienced puzzle fans may complete many sections with little difficulty. Furthermore, the anime-focused theme naturally caters to a specific audience, which may reduce its appeal for players who are less interested in collectible character-driven experiences. Overall, Waifus Smash successfully delivers an entertaining blend of action, rhythm gameplay, exploration, puzzles, and light RPG progression. Its willingness to combine multiple gameplay styles gives it an identity that stands apart from many indie anime-themed releases, and the steady progression system keeps the adventure engaging from beginning to end. Although it lacks the depth and production values of larger-budget titles, it compensates with charming visuals, enjoyable combat mechanics, and rewarding exploration. Fans of anime-inspired indie games looking for a relaxing adventure with an original gameplay hook will likely find plenty to enjoy. Rating: 7/10
Mega gra, bardzo dobre bity i swietna fabula (zderzaki tez calkiem niezle) :3
