Unlike Scrabble, [i]Waddle Words[/i] keeps things simple: letter tiles have no inherent value, there's no "Premium Squares" (for letter or word multipliers), individual letters can be swapped out at any time (with a slight penalty of gaining additional letter tiles), and tiles aren't permanently placed (& therefore can be moved, rearranged, & swapped out as needed). As the letters and words themselves have no value towards scoring, you'll instead gain 1 point each time you utilize all of your letters to form valid words. Featuring two different game modes (Timed Mode + Zen Mode), [i]Waddle Words[/i] offers viable options for both competitive & casual players — regardless of player count. While both options share the singular goal of forming words to score points, Timed Mode allows you to compete against the clock in a race to form as many words as possible as quickly as possible (starting with 5 minutes & gaining additional time as you complete "waves"). Conversely, the stress-free Zen Mode boasts no timer, making your imagination and wordsmith skills the only obstacle in scoring. Despite its enjoyable concept and charm, [i]Waddle Words[/i] is unfortunately not without its flaws. [i]Waddle Words[/i]' biggest flaws are its lack of save function (particularly for Zen Mode games) and its lack of a true online multiplayer experience (relying instead on players using Steam's [b]Remote Play Together[/b] feature or playing locally). That being said, however, the addition of a cooperative mode and versus mode is a delightful inclusion that the game's predecessor ([i]Obgoose[/i]) lacked, and with proper multiplayer support implementation, [i]Waddle Words[/i] has the potential to be a fun party game with friends. Ultimately, [i]Waddle Words[/i] is a delightful & charming treat that's perfect for bite-sized solo playthroughs when you're craving a mental break from the world or for a silly couch co-op session with family/friends when you need a laugh.
