Played On: HTC Vive
Having been released a year and a half ago, VRMultigames was among the first batches of titles released when the VR platform hit consumer-level markets. It consists of three small games; Goalie, Archery, and Drone Fight. By now, two of these three games have permiated the VR catalog, and have therefore been vastly improved upon in comparison to this older release. If you decide to take the plunge and try this game out, be well informed that it's a completely abandoned project. It's easy to tell that there have been literally zero updates to this game since it launched, as there are about six picture frames in-game that say "Coming Soon" for mini games that were to be implemented, but never were. The three that do exist are all broken to an extent anyway; especially Archery, where the game literally froze around me, the bots stopped moving and my arrows stood still in time. In Goalie, it's far too easy to score against yourself if you happen to hit a ball that hasn't disappeared yet, and Drone Fight is pretty slow paced and boring. That being said, the use of haptic feedback for the bow and gun is great, and I wish more games implemented such a stellar mechanic. While it was probably decent for the early days of VR, VRMultigames is all but obsolete at this point. You want good archery? Try out The Lab, QuiVR, Holopoint, or Twisted Arrow. You want a shooter? Try out Guns'n'Stories: Bulletproof, HoverJunkies, Arizona Sunshine, or Serious Sam. You want a goalie game? That's available in Rec Room, along with a plethora of other entertaining multiplayer games. Needless to say, it's not worth the time to play this game anymore, though it was a good initial effort on the developer's part. Perhaps it could've been something if there was consistent work done on it. VRMultigames is a Free VR lobby with 3 games you can play. It worked on my system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Game: Drone Fight = you vs drones shooting blasters, you have laser sword and gun to use. Goalkeeper = you vs 3 ball launchers, you have 2 huge hands on poles to defend the soccer goal. Bow Fight = you vs cpu attackers that have swords, shield, or rifles, you have a bow and arrow, can kill with the bow hitting. All games are challenging. When a game is free, I do rate positive as long as I had some fun. Well, I had some fun in this game. I especially liked the bow game and the goalie game. In fact, all the games were average to above average. This is definitely a must download and play when you're bored and looking for some quick mini-games in VR. I hope they keep updating this game. Rating 6/10 instead of download, play once, and uninstall .. I will play these again someday soon
this sucks
I didn't expect to enjoy this but I did
Today I'm trying to clear some hard disk space, so I'm checking several "mediocre" VR games and uninstalling them. I launched this one fully expecting to spend a couple minutes in it and uninstall. Instead I played it for half an hour and I'm gonna keep it installed to play again. Don't get me wrong, it is mediocre, but its fun to play. It's three mini-games (and a fourth that you launch from Steam separately, but it's just a prototype). One is a goalkeeper mini-game where you use a pair of goofy giant hands at the end of poles in order to block incoming ball shots. It's silly and it progressively gets more challenging. The hands you're holding slide over an arc that's not very inuitive, but you eventually get used to it. One is a bow & arrow mini-game where you can teleport around a very large area while a couple kinds of enemies spawn nearby and come at you. Some of them carry shields that you need to shoot around, some carry guns with slow projectiles that you need to dodge. The way the enemies spawn very nearby, and the way they approach silently (especially the flying drones) is annoying, but otherwise it's very playable. Finally, one is a wave shooter lite mini-game. Drones come at you while shooting slow moving laser bolts. You need to shoot them down. You can also shoot the laser bolts or parry them with the lightsaber in your offhand. That's about it. I liked the other two mini-games better. Plus this one has a bug where the laser bolts will occasionally get stuck in mid-air next to your head and so if you move into them you get hurt. The mini-games have leaderboards, which I think goes a long way in making you want to play again and doing better. Anyway, yes, mediocre, uses default Unreal assets, lots of "coming soon" panels that hint at more mini-games that I'm pretty sure will not be coming, and so on. I still enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I will, I think, be coming back to it.
The author would have been better off focusing on making one game enjoyable rather than produce these three mediocre attempts at games. This is passable as a tech demo, but nothing more. Definitely not worth the investment when there are FAR more enjoyable experiences to choose from at this price point.
The minigames are very primitive and unpolished, they just felt like I was playing on a crudely made Counter-Strike: Source fun map. The game promises unique, original experiences, however there is no originality at all (especially for Drone Fight, which looks like a cheap imitation of Space Pirate Trainer), and the experiences are more bland than "unique" as the games seem to be poorly made. The developer has promised more content (both on the store page and in the game with discernible "Coming Soon" texts) however after my mere 4 minutes of playtime, I am not excited for the new content. Those 4 minutes were enough for me to realize that I will not get any value from the time I would be wasting by playing this game. P.S. I had to idle the game for 1 more minute before posting this review; apparently 5 minutes is the minimum playtime to post a review.
