Played On: HTC Vive
VR Coaster Extreme is a collection of six roller coaster tracks. It's also the only coaster title to feature in-game hands, and with two hand gestures; the iconic metal horns, and the hippy-inspired peace sign. It's around 15 minutes in length, making each track around 2 and a half minutes in duration. The visuals are pretty good, but it's easy to tell that by the end of the development period, George Cook lost the incentive to put his heart into his work. The final track continuously loops, and many of the textures remain unfinished. It's sad to say that this is yet another title that's stuck in Early Access Hell. After being released in April of 2017, the developer quickly abandoned it around September of the same year. There has also been no communication in the Steam forums since around December 2017. Seeing as the project had an estimated 4 month Early Access period, there has been more than enough time to pull the game out of its beta state. It's regrettable that this is the case for VR Coaster Extreme. The game has some of the most imaginative levels of any other roller coaster experience on Steam, most notably the pirate ship level where you actually get to travel underwater for a good chunk of the ride. The cave is also another notable gem, and the green fog that envelopes the track is truly the icing on the cake; despite the awkward clipping through terrain. There's also no music, which is very odd and off-putting, and it just goes to show that the game does remain an unfinished product. NOT WORTH THE PRICE I would compare this so called "game" to a free app on an iPhone made for those crappy vr boxes. There are 4 rollercoasters and I was only able to enjoy the fairground one. The rest are trash. The mine and mountains rollercoaster both sent me falling through the map after not making a jump, something I never wanted to experience in virtual reality. The house rollercoaster gave me motion sickness for the second time in my 5 months of playing a vive. (the first was a motion tracking issue, not the game's fault.) The rollercoasters are also very bad design, there arn't any gliding, fun coasters, just ones where you go so fast you cant even comprehend the turns, which just makes it unbelivable and completely ruins the immersion surronding the VIVE's amazing tehchnology Do yourself a favor and go buy another game with that $5, like tacoface, tiny wheels or rec room. all of which are great games, cheaper than this load of crap
i dont even know where to start but this game is really just bad.. the graphics are (nicely said) lousy and the rollercoasters are no fun. the fairground one is not that bad as it is quite a classic coaster but the others are horrible. expecially the underground one in the mine, there you can clearly see that this game got thrown together as fast as possible with no love at all. the tracks of the mine coaster run trough rocks and walls and all kind of objects and at some points theres not even enough space so it could fit trough. the turns are rough and edgy and the speeds vary from "falling asleep"-slow to "cant see anything anymore"-fast. with something like unity you could probably create a "game" like that in a few hours, if even.. im now using steam for over 12yrs and collected quite some good and very bad games.. but for thisone im actually thinking about getting a refund for the very first time.
This game gave me motion sickness with only playing it for 5 or 6 minutes. In my 2 months of having the HTC Vive this is the first time I got motion sickness from it. I cant lie the concept is cool but I cant play it no more. I can't refund it though because when I tried to shut it down it only closed out the window but it still apeared running on the steam library.
Soo, 16min of "play" and thats it. This was the first VR Game, where I got motion sickness thanks for that experience.
I got the app as part of a bundle. After playing it I thought this was one of those demo rollercoasters that you show your friends when they come visit to check your virtual reality setup. It must have come out at least a year ago, right? It just feels like an early tech demo. Imagine my surprise when I found out it was actually released in april this year and that it costs five euros! It's really not worth the price of admission, especially when there are six rides that each last for 3-5 minutes. The textures look bloated, the scenery is barren and boring. Some of the rides are okay (I enjoyed the mine because it had some interesting scenery) but overall it's not very interesting. What really irks me why all of the VR rollercoasters I have experienced so far always seem to go for the insane speed and jarring twists and turns. It makes the feeling of immersion vanish completely because it feels you are trapped in a speeding bullet that's richocheting around without any feeling of acceleration. Well, at least you can make the horn sign with your stubby little fingers!
Totally broken on Index. The game starts and all I can do is move the hands and point at the tracks. No controls work at all.
Its pretty uninspired. just 5 tracks with bad clipping, pop in, and bugs. At $5 its not even close to being worth it. Only good thing i can say is at least i got it in a Bundle.
Dieses Game ist für mich nicht spielbar, da der Motion Sickness Faktor extrem hoch ist.
