About
Welcome to Vorax, an Island of Horror and Survival
Vorax is an open-world survival horror game that plunges you into the heart of a Mediterranean island overrun by a mysterious infection. As a mercenary sent to investigate, what was meant to be a reconnaissance mission quickly turns into a fight for your life. The island is a living nightmare, inhabited by grotesque mutants, contaminated wildlife, and dark secrets waiting to be uncovered. Your objective: survive, adapt, and unravel the sinister truth behind Virus V.
Survive by Any Means Necessary
In Vorax, survival is not guaranteed. You must scavenge for supplies, craft tools, build shelters, and fight against overwhelming odds. Navigate a vast open-world environment, from abandoned farms to eerie laboratories, each holding pieces of the story and challenges that will test your limits. Utilize makeshift weapons, makeshift barricades, and explore the infected zones to push deeper into the island’s darkest corners.
Dynamic Day-Night Cycle & Adaptive Threats
The island’s day and night cycle impacts the threats you face. By day, you’ll explore, gather supplies, and prepare for nightfall, when the mutated horrors become even more aggressive. You must decide whether to fight, hide, or simply survive until dawn. Vorax is about more than combat—it's about outsmarting the infection, managing your resources, and making hard choices.
The Difference Between the Basic (Demo) Version and the Full Version
We believe in giving players a real taste of what Vorax has to offer, which is why we’re proud to present two different versions of the game: the Basic (Demo) Version and the Full Version. Both versions provide access to the entire game world, allowing you to explore every zone, face every enemy, and experience every story element without major content restrictions.
The only difference between the Basic and Full Versions lies in saving your progress. In the Basic Version, you can only save at checkpoints, creating an intense survival experience where every encounter is high-stakes, and each trip to a safe area is a moment of hard-earned relief. This approach adds tension to your exploration, making every decision matter more.
In contrast, the Full Version gives you the freedom to save anywhere, at any time. This is a complete game changer. It allows you to take risks, explore freely, and engage with the world in a less restrictive way. Whether you have just a few minutes or several hours to play, you can choose how to progress without the anxiety of reaching the next checkpoint. This freedom transforms how you tackle the challenges of Vorax, making it accessible for all play styles.
Constant Updates, Shared Content
Importantly, both the Basic and Full Versions are identical in content. You’ll receive every update, patch, and improvement at the same time, whether you are playing the Basic Version or have upgraded to the Full Version. Your feedback from both versions will help us shape the future of Vorax, and we are committed to ensuring that all players have the most up-to-date, improved experience possible.

Looks to be more abandonware. no update since the end of last year. I get its EA but these guys need to make announcements about the game. since EA release not much have changed. its still bare bones with really bad optimisation. Do not buy until they make some moves on this game
in its current state im not sure i want to recommend this. i have followed since before the demo update, and while that demo certainly had issues, despite them i was eventually able to get through to the end of it. i was excited for this update as it was an upgrade to match the more current build of the game they had. currently, i dont even want to play past the starting house due to the issues ive had with combat and things simply not responding properly. i will be paying attention to future updates though, i believe this game can be great once its polished further. there are a few recent reviews i read that line up with my issues; the graphical quality does not increase no matter what. in the original demo i had no issues with this, but now even maxed out its just poorly textured blobs. unfortunate because i very much liked the enemy design, now i cant even tell what im looking at. inputs do not respond a large percent of the time which is where i would draw the line play-wise. trying to re-equip things after equipping something else (for example, throwing a molotov then trying to scroll back to my axe or gun) hardly worked if at all despite them still technically being shown as equipped. my gun even turned invisible for some reason when i tried to equip it again. hitting enemies with melee weapons is weird, it was hard to tell when i was actually doing damage (unless a limb came off), and i also noticed in the tutorial when mining i couldnt actually hit the mineral node despite standing directly infront of it. i had to change angles several times for the game to register i was actually connecting with it, so im assuming it might be the same problem with enemies and im unsure if this is an oversight or on purpose. shooting is okay, i didnt seem to have any issues regarding the bullets hitting enemies. the enemy pathing is strange and jittery, although im also unsure if that is on purpose due to the nature of the enemies or the pathing itself. didnt have too many problems regarding this, i simply waited for enemies to get a bit closer to have a clearer shot at them. i can live with having poor graphics and textures, but the game becomes a slog when you cant even pull your weapons out correctly to defend yourself or interact with your environment. i have high hopes these issues will be addressed, but for now i will leave this review here.
Сначало скачал на пиратке ,поиграл понравилось,поверил купил,уже почти год нет патчей обновлений,разработчик мошенник,лучше на эти деньгикупите пивка или мороженое
i honestly had hope for this game, demo was buggy but playable. paid for full version. full is way buggier than the demo. got to the villa in the beginning and none of the furniture or cabinets would spawn in. items floating mid air.... truly unhappy with current state of the game. please fix.
in its current states its janky as hell and gives you no sense of direction of what you should be doing after the intro.
developers abandoned the game and decided to work on another project and want you to buy that instead.
Abandoned. The pre steam version of the game performed drastically better than this version too.
2.5/5
Vorax is a first-person open-world survival horror experience developed and published by IndieGala. Set on a remote Mediterranean island devastated by a mysterious biological outbreak, the game blends elements of survival simulation, exploration, crafting, and tense combat into a single atmospheric experience. Rather than presenting a traditional linear horror story, the game places players inside a hostile sandbox where survival depends on careful resource management, strategic exploration, and the ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment filled with mutated threats. The design focuses heavily on vulnerability and uncertainty, encouraging players to approach every encounter cautiously while uncovering the disturbing secrets hidden across the island. The story begins with a military operation intended to contain a deadly infection known as Virus V. A battalion sent to investigate the outbreak mysteriously vanishes, leaving behind only fragments of communication that suggest something went terribly wrong. The player assumes the role of a mercenary hired to investigate the disappearance and gather intelligence about the outbreak. However, the mission quickly spirals into chaos when the protagonist’s helicopter crashes during the approach to the quarantined island. Stranded and surrounded by infected creatures, the player must navigate a landscape that has been completely transformed by the virus while searching for answers about the catastrophic events that unfolded there. The island itself serves as the central playground for the entire experience. Spanning a large open-world environment, it includes a wide variety of locations such as abandoned villages, military checkpoints, research facilities, farms, caves, and hidden bunkers scattered across the terrain. Each area offers opportunities to scavenge supplies, uncover story fragments, and gather materials necessary for survival. Exploration plays a crucial role in the gameplay loop, as valuable items are often hidden in dangerous locations that require careful planning to access safely. Players must constantly weigh the risks of venturing deeper into infected territory against the potential rewards of discovering rare resources. Survival mechanics form the backbone of the gameplay. Players begin the game with minimal equipment and must gradually build their capabilities by scavenging materials throughout the environment. Crafting systems allow the creation of tools, weapons, medical supplies, and defensive structures. Items such as melee weapons, firearms, traps, and barricades can help players defend themselves against the increasingly aggressive infected population. However, resources are limited, forcing players to make difficult decisions about how to use their supplies efficiently. Wasting ammunition or crafting materials too early can leave players vulnerable when stronger enemies appear later in the game. Combat in Vorax is intentionally tense and often unpredictable. The infected creatures inhabiting the island display a variety of behaviors and physical mutations that make each encounter unique. Some enemies move quickly and attack in groups, while others are more durable and require stronger weapons to defeat. Because the player character is not an unstoppable action hero, direct confrontation can often be dangerous. The game encourages players to approach combat strategically, using stealth, positioning, and environmental advantages to survive encounters whenever possible. An important feature that shapes the rhythm of gameplay is the dynamic day-and-night cycle. During daylight hours, exploration is generally safer and players can travel longer distances while scavenging resources. When night falls, however, the environment becomes significantly more dangerous. Visibility decreases, enemy activity intensifies, and certain creatures become more aggressive. This shift forces players to plan their activities carefully, often using daylight to gather supplies and strengthen defenses before retreating to safer areas when darkness arrives. Weather systems also contribute to the game’s immersive atmosphere. Fog can reduce visibility across large areas of the map, making navigation more difficult and increasing the likelihood of surprise encounters with enemies. Rainstorms and environmental effects add further unpredictability to exploration, sometimes turning familiar areas into tense survival situations. These dynamic environmental elements help reinforce the feeling that the island is a living, hostile place where conditions can change rapidly. The visual design of the game emphasizes contrast between the natural beauty of the Mediterranean landscape and the horrifying consequences of the viral outbreak. Coastal cliffs, rural farmland, and quiet villages are presented alongside grotesque mutated creatures and abandoned infrastructure left behind during the failed containment operation. The environments often feel eerily empty, creating a sense of isolation that strengthens the game’s horror atmosphere. Players frequently encounter signs of the island’s former inhabitants, such as deserted homes and makeshift shelters, hinting at the desperate attempts people made to survive before the infection consumed everything. Sound design plays a major role in building tension throughout the experience. Subtle environmental sounds such as distant creature noises, rustling vegetation, or echoing footsteps can alert players to nearby dangers even before enemies appear on screen. The soundtrack is relatively restrained, allowing ambient audio to dominate most exploration sequences. This design choice enhances the sense of unease, making quiet moments feel just as suspenseful as direct combat encounters. Another interesting aspect of the game is how it encourages players to establish temporary safe zones. Through crafting and construction mechanics, players can fortify certain locations with barricades, traps, and defensive structures. These shelters serve as valuable resting points where players can store supplies and recover before venturing back into the wilderness. Maintaining these safe zones becomes especially important during nighttime or severe weather conditions when travel becomes far more dangerous. Despite its ambitious design, the game has experienced mixed feedback during its development period. Many players appreciate the immersive open world and the strong atmosphere created by the survival mechanics and environmental storytelling. The combination of crafting systems, exploration, and horror elements provides a compelling framework for a tense survival experience. However, as an evolving project, certain aspects such as combat balance, performance optimization, and mechanical polish have occasionally drawn criticism from players who hope to see further refinement as development continues. Nevertheless, the game shows clear potential through its concept and environmental design. The large island setting offers numerous opportunities for exploration and discovery, while the survival systems create a constant sense of urgency that keeps players engaged. The combination of open-world freedom with horror-themed survival mechanics helps the game stand out among many other survival titles that focus more heavily on action. Ultimately, Vorax aims to deliver a harsh and immersive survival experience where players must rely on intelligence, preparation, and caution to stay alive. The game’s focus on exploration, crafting, and environmental storytelling creates a world that feels both mysterious and threatening. While still evolving, it presents a compelling vision of survival horror set within a vast open environment where every decision can determine whether the player survives another day on the infected island.
