Fun simple arena shooter, if a bit on the short side, though the developer has expressed they intend to add additional content in the future. Shooting is decent, movement is good with a few hiccups at time. I look forward to playing future updates!
A nice game with nice mechanics. Basically all the mechanics I love from movement shooters are in here: - Wall Running - Dashing - Double Jump - Slide And while the translation from dashing to sliding is still awkward, it has great potential! On the progression, even if the initial pistol is very strong on the start of the round, once the enemy number ramps up you start to want another weapon to help dispatching them more quickly, which is a nice incentive to try to get better equipment on the store. There is also a nice collection of maps, but I feel that 2nd and 3th maps have a even smaller area then the 1st one, which leaves little room to error.
Wave survival FPS with exciting movement mechanics and a decent gameplay loop. I love a lot of the ideas going into this and their execution- wallrunning then leaping over a horde hits the feels like nothing else. The current enemy trio is quite limited but they complement each other well in controlling space on the ground. The stages, music and UI presentation set a unique vibe to the game which make it relaxing to slip into and hang around in. The fields stage was straight up terrible gameplay wise, but otherwise there's a really nice selection to work your way through. I'm not really a fan of the weapon selection, with the starting pistol being at least serviceable and the shotgun being almost useless in comparison. The unlockable 'standard' rifle actually feels nice and responsive to handle whilst being quite effecitve, whilst the burst rifle is easily the most powerful but has awkward animations. The 2 unlockable abilities are nice though, giving a way to demolish tight groups of enemies all at once when you can get yourself a health surplus. However, the dragon punch could definitely use some SFX, and maybe a lower HP activation cost (runup dp for life). Next bit is a little more ranty and goes over movement mechanics: As aforementioned the movement does make some of the high points of the game, feauturing a wallrun and airdash. The airdash is an awesome escape tool, a great thing to have in any game for me, and when the wallrun works it's amazing. Still, the wallrun is unreliable and doesn't warrant much use in game unless you back yourself into a corner or want to reach higher ground. Thing is, if you reach higher ground and stay still, there's nothing the existing enemy layout can do to stop you from staying there unhindered and racking up score. It's a really boring strategy, and ideally the optimal strategy should be the most fun one, or at least mechanically challenging. Adding an enemy that can counter this strategy as well as incentive to use the wallrun would go a long way. As for other movement mechanics, the 'slide' is useless for retaining momentum or moving around at all, but I'm pretty sure you can bunny hop to keep your momentum from a wall run or airdash, which can be a lot of fun to pull off. On the whole, Voidside is a fresh game with a lot of fun to be found despite some rough edges. As it stands now, I'd say the game has about 1h 30mins of immediate content, but it's the sort of game you can feel like picking up and playing again to chill later. There's also going to be more updates to look out for which'll bring me back for sure.

With it's fast-paced action, impressive visuals, and addictive gameplay, it's a must-play for fans of the genre. Additionally, the developer recently fixed a persistent graphical glitch that plagued my AMD GPU, I have been testing different builds to try and resolve the issue and it is finally fixed. This absolutly demonstrates his commitment and passion to providing a top-notch gaming experience. So yeah this is a big thumbs up from me absolutly recommed the game to anyone who loves this genre.
A nice little coffee break game for the price of a *relative* expensive, but good cup of Cappuccino. - Totally just deleted 80% of my review cause it was based on a very early build. A lot has changed so I decided to do just that, and make a note of it like this. Top part and Bottom part still stands, so do the thumbs up - I can only believe this game will grow into a nice niche arena game with time
Voidside is pretty feature packed for a proper debut game it's got all the classic movement shooter tropes like: - wall running - double jumping - dashing etc, The map design is really well done and give the retro shooter in space vibe there are a few perch spots that you can squeeze into for a moment to catch your breath from the onslaught of enemies. The only problems is really had were with the sliding mechanic and coins. With the sliding, This might be a bit petty but when you slide in the grass it makes it difficult to see where you're going and where enemies are around you. Finally, the coins feel somewhat grindy even with having the 3x multiplier but if you are going through all the levels you'll get enough to get you on your feet. With the items being as pricey as they are. Overall, Voidside is a very fun game with fast paced movement and a good few hours of gameplay and is very impressive for a solo indie game. I look forward to future updates <3 - First guy to hit 100k points on a level
'Voidside' featured fast fun game-play that makes you want to play over and over again to get a higher and higher score, losing yourself in the world of shooting purple men. Guns can be easily upgraded through coins simply earned by playing as well as upgrades to your player and unlock-able abilities which adds some nice progression aside from reaching the score goals to unlock more levels. Overall, I couldn't recommend 'Voidside' any more, the develeoper has really outdone themselves when making this fantastic game! Update 1: With the release of VOIDSIDE ACT 1, there is never a better time to play voidside! Act 1 adds in a great story which uses the mechanics of voidside greatly. Since launch there has been many more maps (which get better with each update) and has had so many updates and events. I am greatly impressed with what the developer has done with this game and I look forward to future updates and projects.
