For less than the price of a metro ticket, the atmosphere of this game really puts you in a cosmic mood
So far a very enjoyable simple game. I love the atmosphere. Great play so far.
I don't like leaving a negative review for an indie game, but there is too much wrong here to recommend it, even for the price. There is little content, and what's there is quite plain. It feels less like a game and more like a student project (many examples on steam in the free section). The setting (the void, I guess? but there's planets, and an ocean... in an asteroid belt?) feels like it was designed to accommodate the game engine and the development process, rather than a result of creative work. It has the feel of 3D assets thrown together in virtual space; doesn't feel like a "world" so to speak. You have currency, and items that can be used, and a ship with potential upgrades, but there is no inventory or status menu. Can't check how much gold you have without going to a shop, can't check your stats until you need to make a decision, etc. Major oversight, hard to believe that wasn't caught in the alleged 2 year dev cycle. The choices are largely based on rolls from 1-99 that are affected by 3 stats. Passing a check may increase a stat slightly, which is fine, but failing a check may decrease it, which undermines any sense of progress. Items can boost stats, but they are also your main source of income to upgrade your ship. Now, a lot of this could be forgiven if this game was more story-based, but it's not. The story is actually not very good, quite cliche. The ending was terrible, and because there are only autosaves (can't just make my own save), if I want to try and get a better one, I have to start over from the beginning (not worth it). So, what's good about the game, then? Well, the ship combat was fun. Also, the overall concept of the game is neat. But the execution is bad. I hope the devs take this as a learning experience and continue in the industry, because there is potential here, and I would be interested in what they make in the future, now that they've got the basics down. It would be a shame if they stopped now. But this is the reality of the situation: when you put a product to market, it needs to compete with what's already out there. Void Sails is a relatively weak experience, especially on Steam, where there are so many great games available at very low prices.
The world building has a lot of potential. The game mechanics get repetitive and the story doesn't quite deliver.
An interesting journey into the Eldritch, all while aboard an Airship. It's rolling system is unique, as it requires you to roll lower rather than higher. As an airship fan, I've enjoyed flying one despite how careful you need to sometimes be due to acceleration, deceleration, and more realistic turning (rather than just rotating)
Fun easy going game, shorter but its a small dev team so I don't expect a long running game. Battle mechanics are simple but i always find steering in a battle hard. I like the world, wish i could have seen the city and the some of the destinations you encounter. I could honestly see myself just flying around the sky cities, making port and reading up on the lore of the world. if devs are reading, some things i think might have made experience more enjoyable for me: speeding up the thrusters, felt like it wasn't much faster than regular flying speed. And when you die in a battle it'd be nice to start right back to point in space not at the lighthouse. i died a few times in the same battles and having to fly 4 - 5 spaces back to the battle irked me a bit after the 4th time.
The game looks cool, you have to think about decisions from the beginning, because you can quickly regret a bad decision. It's fun to fly the ship and the fights are interesting. Another review after I play longer. PL.
Enjoyable. I wish the ship was a little faster.. and yet the game would have ended sooner... At the beginning, it would have helped to make it clearer on how to dock. The game also felt unbalanced - getting full shields was very important and made the rest of the game a lot easier. Also of note, you never leave the ship, when you do, it is a text adventure. Some people will like that, others won't. It was a fun game.
Неплохой сюжет, очень приятная графика и стилистика. Однозначно рекомендую к покупке любителям подобных жанров, несколько интересных вечеров вам обеспечены.
