Why bother putting a vr game on steam that doesn't have any support whatsoever for the index? Not to mention there were no warnings when I bought it. To top it off, since I didn't try to play it right away, refunds are denied. Thanks for the frustration, waste of time, and useless data on my hard drive I guess. At least I can fix that last one.
2 Minute Video Review → https://youtu.be/uFU_oqVL_z0 Virtual Space Port is a strategic puzzle defense game. The controls are good and feel pretty natural. You build blocks by pressing trigger and dragging in a straight line to create blocks. The main blocks for your spaceship are Form blocks. The way you win the game is by creating enough Form blocks to reach the Monuments. Monuments are the blue floating masses away from your ship. After you’ve reached all the Monuments with Form blocks, the game will give a countdown timer to make sure everything remains intact, then you win the game. In order to create form blocks you need to create docks for the tiny ships arriving at your space station to give you resources. To build a dock you need to create a form block pattern that’s a "+" sign, then a dock is created. If you see too many little ships that look confused then you need to build more docks. But of course there are enemy ships trying to destroy your station, and your form blocks are easily destroyed. So you need to create Wall blocks that will survive the attacks of the enemy ships. The game provides a great visual guide by a red line for incoming enemy ships approaching a vulnerable spot. There’s a handful of different tiers, each with multiple levels inside. Each tier introduces a new element like the enemy bomber that can destroy any block. And much later you can finally build defenses. This game looks simple on its surface, but it’s deceptively challenging and deep. I had a great time playing this and I think it’s a lot of fun. The estimated time to beat everything is 5 hours. So for the regular price of $15 it’s a good value. For a challenging puzzle strategy game I recommend it.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
Please note: received free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program This is an initial impressions review. I do like this game. It's an interesting space strategy game / base building game. It starts out very simple. You must extend your base to the monuments to win. You start out with a set number of blocks that you can increase by getting ships to dock at your dock stations / modules. Meanwhile enemies will start attacking your base and take blocks with them. You can make a pattern with the blocks to create more docking shapes and you can also add defensive / wall blocks that will shield them from attack. However, just when you get comfortable with those basics, curveballs are thrown at you. Enemies come along that can destroy the wall blocks. Later on, you get the ability to pattern out a turret that will help in defending your base. You can play the game seated. You move around by pressing both grab buttons. You can also rotate by just pressing the grab button on one controller. The gameplay was smooth. The tutorial explained what you needed to do. The UI was functional and self-explanatory. I liked how the visuals informed you on what was going on with a quick glance. When an enemy was a threat to your base the laser coming out of it would be red, when you blocked it's path with a wall block, the laser would turn black. Rating TBD. It will be positive, but not sure on the final score yet. You can view my initial impressions review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/n6bqXsthrbg
Super addictive little space port building puzzle game that puts the Puzzle in port Nice simple controls with a highly polished game and also has a demo to try what's not to like. View let's play Video for more of my sparkling personality: https://youtu.be/1ap_Dp0rqrE Not going to write much as you can download the demo and try it yourself. While I'm talking Demos I miss the days of buying gaming mags and firing up the floppy to play the included demos. Or in later years the CD with a pile of bloatware and the occasional good demo that I played till I wore my keyboard out but never ended up buying the full version.
Simple but well polished, this construction/strategy game is a lot of fun. I filled up my playspace with an awesome miniature space station in no time, while the constant influx of enemies from every direction had me guarding it jealously. This was also a hit with kids, and the creative mode provides a nice stress free environment to practice building new structures. Anyway, I look forward to putting some hours into this and getting past all the harder tiers. For now, I can at least recommend it for casual strategy gamers and kids. I'll update my review once I've checked out the harder levels.
Nice game. Simple graphics and simple mechanics - but very challenging and addictive. The control scheme is quite unusual but very intuitive. A fine example showing a fresh idea with a well thought out implementation is more important than a big budget.
Fantastic game! It really helped me work through my VR sickness too. I was able to play this game for longer periods and it helped me transition to games with more movement. The game starts off pretty easy. But after you progress to the next tiers it picks up and you have to scramble to keep everything safe. I really have enjoyed it!
So geht VR!
Neat little puzzler that works well in VR. Love that demos are a thing for many VR games. It made a sale in my case.
