Purchased the software to use my Thrustmaster T300 remotely with an ancient Steam Link. The software does work and the wheel connects and runs just fine, but any steering input immediately renders any game unplayable through intense lag, despite them running well using a steam or xbox controller. From what I've gathered through the steam discussion board and the publishers own forum, this issue is known and has basically no fix other than to use a raspberry pi or similar device instead. Why the store page still advertises steering wheels as a valid use case I do not know.
steam link is no longer... why is this still so expensive? it does work but latency isn't any better than other solutions
before i got this program, most of my things worked perfectly, except my microphone. after i got the program, my sound broke, some devices misbehaved, but my mic worked. i got a refund and uninstalled. then everything broke. so i had to buy it again just to fix the damage it caused. i also strongly disagree with their business model of 'pay us for a demo, then pay us more for the full version' tactic. without buying "DLC" you can only use three devices with it. got a keyboard, mouse, gamepad, and headset? too bad! pay more! attempting to remove it causes problems now, so i guess i have to keep it now? it's essentially holding my steam link hostage at this point.
Doesn't work to fully pass through all functions of Logitech G923 Racing Wheel.
Works only in local network, if you try to access steamlink + virtualhere outside your home network the usb devices won't work
DON'T BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE A LOGITECH G29!! I bought Virtual Here one year ago, hoping that this " software that allows you to use steering wheels on your Steam Link! " would be compatible with one of the most popular steering wheel like is Logitech G29, but after one year waiting any of the updates and doing absolutely everything i found on the oficial documentation and forums, stills not working at all... I do not recomend wasting 15$ on this if you have a this Logitech steering wheel. Maybe it's a good software with other devices, maybe the problem is from the newest drivers or the Logitech G Hub.... the only thing i know is that i tried everything to make this works for nothing because is not even writed anywhere that this software is not compatible with such popular device... Anyway it still my fault to buy a steering wheel hoping that it would works with a third party program instead of wasting hours investigating.
Doesn't work at all. Instructions claim it autostarts when starting streaming. Instead it causes Bluescreen on host PC. Manually starting the server works. However connection does not work at all after following setup instructions to the letter, at least for using xbox wireless dongle.
I had a very specific reason to try VirtualHere, and I can report that it has worked perfectly! I have an indoor golf simulator setup in my garage. I have a Square Golf Launch Monitor that connects to my PC via bluetooth using a connector application, which also ties it to my simulator software, GSPro. This was working well but with the PC in another room, the bluetooth signal was being shown as low and I wanted to use a metal protector case with the Square, which I was worried would reduce the bluetooth signal further and cause potential disconnections. I needed a way to get the distance between my Square and the PC reduced to improve the bluetooth signal strength. In the garage, I was using a projector connected to a Steam Link in order to stream GSPro from the PC to the projector via Steam Remote Play added as Non-Steam Game. The Steam Link could not connect to the Square using its native bluetooth connection. VirtualHere offered a solution. I purchased a TP-Link Bluetooth USB dongle and connected it to the Steam Link. I purchased Virtual Here so that the Steam Link could share the bluetooth dongle with my PC, acting like the dongle was attached directly to the PC. From the PC, I can now connect to the Square, using the bluetooth dongle that is being streamed from the Steam Link over VirtualHere. Now the bluetooth signal between my PC and the Square is considered STRONG (even with the metal case), as the bluetooth connection is only going from the Square to the dongle in the Steam Link, which is then being shared via VirtualHere back to the PC over ethernet! I also worked out I could plug in my Logitech K400 KB/Touchpad USB dongle into my Steam link, share it with my PC via VirtualHere, and now I can control the PC from the garage - the PC thinks the K400 is connected directly to it (the K400 does work without Virtual Here, but the Windows key didn't work, which I needed to switch quickly between applications while streaming GSPro). I hope that makes sense, just wanted to share an example of VirtualHere working really well with a rather convoluted setup.
Garbage program DO NOT BUY DO NOT BUY.
