such a nostalgia ride
Most of the time spent is outside the game waiting for stuff to happen.
I remember playing this years ago and I loved it then (though hated all the waiting). I don't mind the waiting now as I have other things to do besides wait around for island events, but the game is still just as good even if the graphics didn't age well.
I've played it for 7 hours on Steam, but I've put in far more hours than that in the last two decades. My mom first got my siblings and I into the Virtual Villagers series. (I think she mostly got the game for herself, but she said it was for us kids.) I love watching the tribe grow while getting attached to particular favorites. And there's so many random events that I don't think the Wikia has catalogued them all. Some of them can have drastic effects on your villagers, good or bad. I wish this game had easily installable mods with a Steam Workshop because me and my sister used to have fun with editing the art assests... (Even if we irreversibly screwed up our grandma's copy, at least on her computer.) It'd be cool to add some custom events too.
PROS • Straight forward and easy to understand. • Missing a day on normal speed isn't a big deal. • Most of the puzzles are easy to figure out. CONS • Villagers lack in variety, mine all look the same. • This one doesn't have the sewing hut so no customisation. • A lot of the puzzles can be done in the first 3 days of playing. (4 out of 5) Perfect for if it's your first time playing a game like this, it's very simple and straight forward but lacks some of the features and polish the later games have.

Loved since creation 💕
Used to play this as a kid, so I love the simplicity and nostalgia!!
yes
Kind of like a true-time primitive version of Rimworld except it's nothing like that at all.
