Not bad but bit too linear. I liked previous entry better. I didn't like the equipment / progression system, it felt kinda random, idk. I got stuck on a giant rock golem boss and couldn't progress since I couldn't move out of way for its attacks.
Too much talking to how much playing there is. Many rooms have someone saying something portentous, and some rooms have 4 or 5 people doing it. That sort of thing is like salt in a meal. A little bit of it can really bring out the flavor of a mysterious environment, but too much makes it inedible. In the hour I played I probably encountered 3 or 4 dozen books and NPCs each of which had multiple panels of dialogue. It was just too much. The gameplay is good, but the amount of writing totally overwhelms it.
So close to being good, but just really can't hold it together. Things like being able to accidentally make your gear worse (without the ability to reverse it), bosses with awkward and impossible hitboxes, and unrewarding side content (challenges with no real obvious location to turn in and no tangible reward) are definitely its downfall.
a really great take on a sequel, but it's not yet there + the game takes the dungeons of zelda and string them together without the outside world, the mandatory fetch quests and time wasting missions(your design of stringed dungeons is almost my dream zelda game) + good variety of weapons + decent puzzle design +good music - the story seems interesting but it's told through so many "lore books" with vague wording, I lost my interest after finding the fifth book in the same dungeon - the crafting system is underdeveloped, it needs better presentation and value - I wished the dungeons were longer and stringed together better, the dungeons felt smaller than the original game - the additions of the mini games for different characters also felt underdeveloped, the idea is there but the application leaves so much more to be desired all in all, the game has so many good ideas, I can't give it a negative review for trying to be something new, but at the same time it feels that every new idea was thrown without a good aim behind it
Good Zelda like! This time around, you start with the ability to run from the start and this helps make the mecanics feel polished. For better or worst, they are only dungeons, no Overworld. The dungeons are well made and fun. I never got lost for too long. Only thing I don't like is the equipment creation thing, it is not even clear the stat change you made to equipment after you've created it, which make no sense. While I haven't finished yet, I plan on doing so and I recommend to 2D Zelda fans!
Aesthetically, this game is right up my alley. Kudos to the pixel artist(s) who made the characters come to life. Unfortunately, the linear progression of levels and a lack of clever puzzles means Veritus isn't more than a surface-level 2D Zelda-like.
The Oracle of Ages sequel I've been waiting for!
Would be a super interesting game to see a speedrun of. Fun game, a little confusing
I want to like it but I don't like the faster pace. I think the Prodigal is just more what I was looking for in a game like this
Played for a couple hours and got frustrated with the level design, it just felt too tedious honestly. Definitely a fun game that's got the Link's Awakening spirit to it with a few clever ideas, but it feels like a lot of content can easily be missed if you aren't careful about progressing to the next area, where you're locked in and have to keep going.
