VEGAS Movie Studio 15 Platinum Steam Edition

NOTE! I have not used any plugins so far. System. FX8320 16GB ram GTX960 2GB I will mainly be using this to edit shadowplay recordings. So far I have loaded a Studio 14 project, no worries there, and I rendered it using the NVENC 1080p 59.94fps templet, It was indeed close to twice as fast as CPU only in 14. I have also done a quick edit of a long clip to cut out boring bits and added fades, no problems there. Program has worked flawlessly so far but as I say I have only done simple edits so far. Very happy!

For those needing a new movie maker with the bells and whsitles this is excatly what I have been looking for. Easy to use for those experinced in windows movie maker. Great in system tutorial for those who have never touched video editing software. Everything is in an easy to reach place. Almost all video, photo, and audio formats can be used . (Negative point: HVECS you need plantium edition to use and AVIS require codec support or conversion). Best part is it treats .gifs as animations and not as static images. For audio folks needing multiple music and dialogue channels and tracks supports multiple. The sound control point is probally one of the greatest strengths over windows movie maker here. The file formating and upload options is also a strength over old moviemaker. I have had it only crash one time as I tried to jam a .WVM into a .AVI (without turning my codecs) so this was my own fault. Price for this is questinble: Its cheaper for what it does compared to other programs. The sale for the basic versions cuts out some fancy tools and file formats which makes it kind of a bust, but as it does the simple movie making its kind of a steal at the same time being simple and to the point. So if you need to do complex editing for video, photos, and audio I think this is worth the price. If you want simple ediitng with most normal formats the normal version should be fine for most folks on sale.

Poorly designed software gives frequent registry errors to users. It happened to me, and i'm still working on fixing it, I don't recommend this program at all. Even if I get the program working, I am certain a lot of people are screwed out of their money for the same issue as I and many others are having. Sad.

The VEGAS Movie Studio 15 seemed like wonderful at first yet I was missing a few features from the previous version, VEGAS Movie Studio 14. But the thing that prohibits me from recommending this software is the crashes. They are way too common. I thought that I'd just refund it but the 14 day refund policy had already expired. But one can not try a software like in under 2 hours and be sure that they are satisfied as there can be as I mentioned crashes like this. I did apply anyway knowing that this was problem that not only I was having and hoping that I could get a refund. I mean the VEGAS 15 isn't marketed as early access or anything in style with that. The appeal was denied... I did however buy the product on sale but the crashes are really making me doubt this purchase. It's definetly not worth the 35€ I spent on it. Summary: Stay with VEGAS Movie Studio 14 otherwise you'll be missing features and experience a ton of crashes if you use the software a lot. Vegas Movie Studio Patinum I have had a look at Vegas Movie Studio and I am really happy with it. Introducory I have to mention my more professional point of view to this software. Vegas Movie Studio Platinum is a semi professional software but its standards are quite high. When I opened the software for the first time I instantly felt familiar with the GUI and how it is divided into the several areas. Everything woks really fast and smooth. When it comes to preview prformance one can set preview quality from really super low with a quarter of resolution of draft quality up to full resolution in production quality. this means, even if this piece of software is ment to reach the needs of semi professionals, who often have not the fastest and powerful hardware, everyone can find a point where his hardware is capable of a smooth and fluent workflow. Media Assets can be imported to the timeline via drag and drop, which is very intuitive. This leads me to the next steps working with events on the timeline. Putting my professional hand on JKL automatically gave me a very familiar feeling without highly raised borders or a way too steep learning curve. Editing events like to trim, to blend in/out or fade video events down is really easy and intuitive. The mouse cursor is always representing the editing function to use. For example at the beginning or the ends of a clip in the timeline you get the trim tool. in the upper corners of a clip are the fade tool functions. Finding more advanced functionality like for example animating and keyframing is also very easy in most cases when you had your hands on some professional software like Avid, Premiere, AE, you name it. Of course this software will be very often in the hand of somebody who is not so familiar with video editing yet. Here the Tutorial section of Vegas Movie Stusio Platinum really is a highlight. The Tutorials are interactive windows with information in written form within the software itself. Every GUI element to use for a tutorial is framed, explained and the user is prompted to get his hands on what is to to at this point. The tutorial steps are only changing to the next page when you actively do what is asked for in the tutorials text. You instantly shift around events in the timeline, trim videoclips, make blends or create video effects. It is interesting and not completely without any humor what the programmers did here. I a very short while, even unexperienced users will be capable of handling the basic taks of video editing. To conclude my experience, even as a professional, I didnt´t miss a basic function which is essential to have. On the other hand, seeing Vegas Movie Studio Patinumwith the eyes of an unexperienced user, the software is designed very open and user friendly.

This movie maker is bad. I mean sure, making movies is actually great on that software, but, how in the world am I suppose to make these movies if every file I insert keeps crashing the software, except for one, MPEG-2. I do not recommend this software to anyone until this gets fixed, end of story.

No matter how many video editors I try, I keep coming back to VEGAS Movie Studio 15. The simplicity, familiar hotkeys, and smooth workflow make it hard to leave behind. For casual editing, especially gaming videos for YouTube, it’s been fantastic. But it’s not perfect. MP4 files can be a headache to import, and occasional crashes remind me to save often. Despite these frustrations, it’s still my go-to, though I can’t recommend it without warning about the quirks.

It worked for me for awhile, but no longer works on any machine and their support refuses to answer my requests. The usability was pretty bad to begin with. You're better off starting off with Movavi and moving on to VEGAS if you don't like Movavi.
