I actually like this game. The ui is good, but a little weird sometimes. It's very hard though. I don't think I've ever made it past the first couple of floors in any dungeon. The character choice options are weird too as a few of them say experimental and it's not fully clear what normal difficulty or roguelike difficulty are. I love the world though. It has a static over-world, and semi-static areas to explore. The caves you go down in are fully random as is tradition. There's quite a few random secret areas to find in the towns. I respect this dev though as he makes his games use software rendering, so they're CPU powered (most roguelikes are anyway, but check out Cubes and Knights). Obviously there are way, way better RL's than this out there, especially the free ones. You buy this to support a novel developer, and to try something different. I think I got it on sale for less than $5, so not too bad. If you have the money, and enjoy collecting and trying different RL's give it a shot. Also, if I remember correctly, the title "Vanilla Bagel" sounds roughly like the word roguelike when spoken out loud in Russian-or something like that.
It's surprising to see so many negative reviews. I've dropped like 100 hours into this bad boy and loved every minute of it minus maybe approximately 26 minutes exactly Classic roguelike mechanics Story line pretty men tbh not too too hard but you still die all the time graphics are niche-tier Overall I would recommend it, especially because juice did nein elebben
Normally, regardless if a roguelike is good or bad, I enjoy playing it so I can learn about the elements that make it good or bad. But Vanilla Bagel marches to the beat of its own drum. Very quickly it has hammered into me the realisation that I don't want to play it.

It's not worth it (4/10) Very basic retro graphics wouldn't be issue and enviroment looks actualy nice but gameplay is just kinda sucky. Trade is miserable but inventory isn't bad. You might handle it if you're crazy into D-n-D but in that case it's still better to go for Cardinal quest or desktop original
It's a very niche game. It's roguelike, making it niche enough to start with, it's Very Russian on top of that and lastly it has a spider that kills you 3/4 of the time. Get it if you're into roguelikes. If you're not hardcore into the genre, try it when on sale. Hm, I should retry this sometime or the other ones by this dev I own.
i dont like the permadeath. i cant seem to make any progress before dying.
