Banter or die! Play two hunters who are racing to kill a vampire in a 90s JRPG style comedy. Solve puzzles, kill rats, and tolerate puns. It's like classic LucasArts made a Final Fantasy knock-off. The key to survival is exploring the world and finding things to talk about!

My only complaint is that I had no opportunity to pay the dev for this little gem. Absolutely adorable and a fun time to boot.
Best $0 I never spent
As the description says, it has comedy, it has puzzles, it has rats, and it has no shortage of puns. And it's free, for what amounts to about 3 hours. Time spent well, in my opinion.
Well let's just say thank God it's free. I was kind of excited for this game. I love pixel art and story rich games with turn based fighting. The art looked great. The story looked great. I wasn't expecting much from a free game but they gave a lot. It's obvious the devs put a lot of time and effort into this game but they catered to a completely different audience with it. The pixels were super messy, very reminiscent of old arcade and nintendo games--aka not my style. it was very distracting compared to the art of more modern pixel games in the past 10-15 years. The music was HORRIBLE. I had to stop after less than half an hour because 1)I couldn't figure out how to turn the music off without getting rid of the ambient noises and sound effects. and 2) It RUINED the immersion of being in a spooky world of vampires and goblins and warlocks. I need immersion in my story games and this one did not have it. If you like to play old-timey games with classic arcade music, you'll enjoy this, but that was not what I was looking for. Overall, this game was a great idea but it was poorly executed. Another thing I disliked was the super quick battle motions and the sound effects. It was too fast and too loud. If they revamped their soundtrack (revamp, see what I did there?) and smoothed out their textures I would have a much better experience. As somebody who just started designing their own game, I know these fixes are relatively easy. The next step would be to slow down the battle animations and really demonstrate the type of damage and effects because I had no idea what was going on and I'm not the type of person to sit there and try to figure out complex battle mechanics, especially with a turnbased game. I wish I could play more to speak to the story of the game. What I saw of the worldbuilding so far was amazing but the music and the graphics were giving me a huge headache.
RPG Maker strikes again! Vamps For The Memories is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality assets (notably most of the assets here seem to be custom instead of just copy + pasted RPG Maker stock assets... but they're still very low quality) coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Like most RPG Maker shovelware, the game features extremely low quality 2D retro pixel art (original or not), looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers. This RPG Maker asset flip has some incredibly cringey "banter" that seems to be the main selling point... well, they're giving this away for free, but unsurprisingly, nobody wanted it. SteamDB shows the peak player count was only 7 very disappointed people who immediately uninstalled it. This was so bad, they couldn't give it away. On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. So, should you download this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ products on Steam? Vamps For The Memories has no upfront cost, but just because something doesn't have a price tag doesn't mean it's valuable. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
This game definitely has potential and I like that it has old-school graphics. However, I have been stuck when it comes to speaking with the innkeeper and have needed to restart the game a few times in hopes that it would sort out the bug. Even with an update, the issue still hasn't been sorted out.
