Vajont VR

Esperienza non particolarmente coinvolgente. La vicenda mi ha semprte appassionato, la mia famiglia è originaria di quella zona e sono stato personalmente a visitare la diga e i luoghi del disastro, purtroppo attraverso questa pubblicazione si riceve davvero poco rispetto a quanto accaduto nella realtà e non mi riferisco all'uso di grafica 3D spinta ed effetti speciali, ma ai fatti, alla storia, ai protagonisti. A chi fosse interessato ad approfondire la tematica consiglio piuttosto di optare per il film "Vajont" del 2001 o ancora meglio "Il racconto del Vajont", monologo teatrale di Marco Paolini, reperibile facimlente su youtube. Anche la fruibilità è migliorabile, lento ed estremamente rigido. Non so se sia un caso, ma l'immagine scelta per la copertina ricorda quella di "Detroit Become Human" https://cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/1222140/header.jpg?t=1667468479 un titolo dalle dinamiche simili, ma infinitamente piu' curato e complesso e ancora uno dei migliori della categoria, nonostante la pubblicazione risalga a 2 anni fa. Forse si tratta solo di una coincidenza ma chi conosce "Detroit" potrebbe essere indotto a pensare di acquistare un prodotto simile, non lo è. Se l'intento degli autori fosse quello di fare pura divulgazione dovrebbe essere distribuito gratuitamente, purtroppo non mi sento di consigliarlo.

It's very heavy on the cinematics, with very few, simple interactions, most of them being point & click. The experience is based on a real-life event, the Vajont dam landslide disaster in Italy in 1963. The app is a fictional recreation of a couple discussing whether they should leave their home or stay (they don't know if the threat is real or not). Whole thing takes about 22-30 minutes, for one playthrough, but you'll probably want to do 2 separate playthroughs to see all the dialogues. There are three possible endings. App / game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting a steady 90 fps, even with resolution scale set at 2.0 and anti-aliasing all the way up. I did not experience any issues or bugs. Only teleportation is available, along with snap turning. Most interactions are point & click, but you do grab some things, including the door or the faucet. Most of the experience is just listening to dialogue and then choosing one of two reactions. I thought this app had very high production values, with really good visuals, however, there is really only the one room. The voice actors also did a very good job. You really do feel the dilemma of this housewife who struggles with trying to convince her husband that they must leave their home behind. I did enjoy this experience, but it's definitely a very niche experience. If you're looking for gameplay, look elsewhere. This is mostly for those interested in the subject matter or for those interested in historical / educational experiences. Ich kann diese preisgekrönte Erfahrung jedem Geschichts- und VR-Fan ans Herz legen. The sound and the English dubbing are well understandable, there are also subtitles. The original program is in Italian, of course. The controls are well done and intuitive. In quanto residente in Veneto non ho potuto esimermi dal provare questo titolo, provatolo un paio di volte per ascoltare dialoghi differenti. Ho apprezzato molto il lato tecnico, se pur molto semplice la stanza nella quale si svolge la vicenda è ben realizzata e restituisce abbastanza la sensazione di trovarsi in una casa dell'epoca. Se non si conosce la storia alla base purtroppo ritengo che si rischi di non capirci nulla, anche se questo titolo andrà sarà sicuramente provato da gente del luogo e appassionati, comunque le premesse date dagli sviluppatori nei titoli dicono chiaramente che questa esperienza non vuole sostituire la realtà...quindi si può tranquillamente sorvolare su questo fatto. In entrambe le mie partire purtroppo prima di iniziare la conversazione con il marito i pensieri della donna erano in lingua inglese, nel corso della narrazione invece in Italiano. Esperienza meritevole, non tratta a fondo tematiche particolari inerenti alla vicenda , ma si concentra su una coppia ipotetica che deve prendere una decisione importante, titolo consigliato per appassionati.

Vajont VR is a paid program that is an VR experience about a historical event. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok, was understandable. Has a choice of languages English and Italian, and voice overs in English was clear and understandable. I had no clue of what was going on about this historical event till i got to the end. Has choices you can make that matter. Has teleport for the VR movement and you need to be standing. They give your avatar a full body. Very short story. Maybe buy this VR experience on sale, if you like history, but maybe not worth the price. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. Do you know the feeling when you go to a museum and then there are headphones hanging around or the same video clip is running on a monitor in an endless loop and you think to yourself ... Boring! This VR experience is something like the answer to that. It tells an interesting short story with different endings and you feel transported to a different time and situation. Since it is not long but limited to what is relevant, I also was interested to try another way after my first attempt.

It was short but I liked the animations, it was wonderfully made.
