The copy was obtained through my steam group* I think the developer is trying to make a stand-alone mercenary mode with more randomization than the RE3 equivalent, essentially making a survival-horror game with some rogue-lite elements such as the randomized level layout, randomized puzzles, and even some basic RPG elements. Having played my share of bonus games in the Resident Evil series, I think it's a cool concept and could potentially work if the loop is enjoyable enough, but that is the thing, it feels too repetitive, the very little depth that this game has does not add much variety in a practical application. For example, there are randomized puzzles, but do they really add anything to the variety when they are just A+B, not really, so what is the point? As far as classic tank-control gameplay, I actually don't think it's that bad, some of the timing could be improved, but in terms of indie games I have seen a lot worse. The pistol and the shotgun impact actually feel pretty decent, I like the traditional crit chance there, you don't get a ton of ammo but it feels good to use it. There are a couple of melee weapons that seeming have a chance to stagger, with the axe and the crowbar at least, so they are slightly unreliable which I think is fine, same as in RE games you can cheese enemies with the pathing artifacts if you have the time to do so. The developer smartly added the no-time limit mode which in this case is the 'medium-difficulty' and seems to progress somewhat differently from the harder modes (unless there is something wrong with the game cuz on the harder difficulty I was getting different patterns). I am actually a bit surprised that the whole time system is not super arcadey like it was in RE3, you might as well have enemies give time if you going for that. As I progressed through the stages which are mostly randomized with slight tile differences between the completed stages, it became increasingly obvious that the rogue-lite experience of this game is only surface-level, the mechanics and the balancing have no coherent scaling. Honestly, the lack of depth is not even that much of a problem, it's just that overall experience if this game is doing the same thing, it randomizes the pattern but it never feels like the experience of the loop changes enough.
Pros:
(+) Admittedly I only remember the name of the original game because JSS trashed the entire thing because of the combat feel and various issues. I personally don't think the gameplay is that bad based on how the classic games worked, aside from feeling a bit too fast, it's not really that different from RE1 or RE2. At least from the perspective of an oldschool fan, I do believe there is still a huge audience for tank controls and classic mechanics, they might be slightly off but they are serviceable here. Like the pistol and the shotgun feel good, I like the headshot chance. (+) I like some of the overall vibes I am getting from the game, obviously, you mostly going for the RE references, but I still like the choice of texture and some of the songs. Now, as the game progressed the consistency with the immersion dropped, partially due to the repetitive objectives, but also some of the songs you picked later didn't work for the theme. (+) Local Co-Op is certainly an interesting feature to have in a game like this, I need someone to try it with though. It's a cool idea, imagine if you could mode something like that into RE1.
Feedback:
Some random feedback: -increase the hitbox for rats and bats -make the map symbols bigger, tag closed doors automatically when close enough -sometimes short enemies can make your character spin -sometimes closing the door teleports you to the other side -models for some items are too small -not clear what the labyrinth does -I think you should color code weapons with higher stats (some indication for the player that your weapon is weaker without looking) -decrease the damage from evolved tyrant so it's not 1 hit -maybe if you run away from tyrant, he should have a chance to drop from the ceiling -give tyrant at least 1 more attack -I think proximity mines should not work on the character -a bit unclear why sometimes stages progress to the next set of tiles/evolved tyrant -still feels like the variety of enemies and levels needs to get better -sometimes the animation locks during combat, not often though Some Ideas: I think a lot of people just wanted you to make a classic Resident Evil, not the bonus mode from the series. You could have like a story mode where you curate the level progression a bit, and maybe a proper fight with a tyrant in a few custom-made rooms. Yes the medium difficulty has no timer, but because of the RNG the experience of playing the game can be very underwhelming. You technically have enough models/tiles to make a custom RE game, maybe add a little more story-specific locations, focus a bit more on the immersion and experience, it does not have to be perfect, just good enough to introduce the game. You probably would want to have a few different objectives too, not doing the same thing over and over. I think the game would benefit if you made the characters a bit more unique with the gameplay, like in RE3 they had different starting loadout, maybe even try to add a few more playable characters, just edit the model, swap some colors, and give them more traits. If you really want to the whole time thing, I wonder if it would be better to lower the timer, but give time for kills and different actions, like the Mercenary mode, gives more purpose to what you are doing. Overall Thoughts: 5/10 I mean look, I think just like the first game it's easy to nitpick it, there are many things that could be improved, but I don't think the dev is trolling, there is some passion there I get what you trying to do, it's just not there yet, needs more variety in general, both in terms of visuals and rogue-lite progression. If anything I think the rogue-lite format was a bit of a mistake, I think a lot of us RE fans will look at it and see something that is very close to the original experience, but the immersion feels more hollow because of the repetitive objectives. It didn't feel bad at first, but as the game progressed, it was very obvious that there is not enough depth there to have that kind of rogue-lite format.
==========

Rapid Response Tactical Unit).
==========

Вашему напарнику плохо, он/она нуждается в вакцине. Игровой процесс происходит по кругу: вы бегаете по случайно сгенерированным комнатам, обрастая оружием/предметами использования, находите вакцину, тащите вакцину напарнику. И так снова и снова, пока не доберётесь до реальной концовки (определённые действия приведут к ней);

Удача (повышает вероятность поднять больше единиц предмета/длительности эффекта от предметов);

Опыт – валюта игры. Получаете с помощью убийств, выполнения задач, даже открывания дверей. С помощью опыта прокачиваете характеристики, а также можете потратить его на приобретение предметов расходников в вендинговой машине на уровне;
Вендинговая машина – позволяет за опыт купить предметы расходники. Машина для переработки – позволяет конвертировать предметы из инвентаря в опыт;
В игре на всех уровнях сложности, кроме «Нормальный», присутствует таймер. С каждым новым кругом запас таймера даётся меньше;
В игре камера подвижно-фиксированная. Что это значит? Камера берёт свой определённый угол, однако вы можете её покрутить вокруг своей оси, дабы оценить опасности за углом. Вид от 1-го лица выглядит забавно, однако не облегчает жизнь. Подбирать предметы придётся также, целиться, наводить и тому подобное. Мой вам совет: с фиксированной камерой играйте на джойстике, а от 1-го можете помучить себя клавиатурой;
Меню выбора персонажей позволяет сменить вид камеры (пишу об этом, ибо немного сложно найти), костюмы (если откроете, я смог один, но имбовый), подобрать сложность;

This will be an unusually short review from me, but I'm low on time and I want to make sure this game gets it's 'positive' review score asap! Will update it later...! I thought the original Vaccine was an interesting idea, but with some poor implementation. Vaccine 2, I mean, Rebirth is an even MORE interesting idea, and with improved implementation! I need to play this a little more in singleplayer in order to give a proper review, but a friend and I played this in Remote Play coop last night and had a blast. The bitcrushed backgrounds are extremely reminiscent of Resident Evil, and the fixed multicam angles chosen - combined with the audio design - make combat much more satisfying than before. Getting stuck on objects, encountering overly verbose middle-management memos and a somewhat mystifying repeating structure (not so much 'how' as 'why?!') present some minor speed-bumps, but these are fairly easy to overcome. You do feel it needed another polish pass, though... I can see myself playing this (alone and with friends) for many more hours to come, so I think I can definitely recommend this for €7. Will revise this review after some more play...!
Received the game for free but usually if I dont enjoy a free game I dont write a bad review... I just dont review it...that being said... Roguelite Resident Evil?! SIGN ME UP!! This is quite a fun little gem. Its pretty polished for what it is. It isnt trying to reinvent Resident Evil (though it does have a unique story through pages of lore) and its not trying to reinvent Roguelites. Once you get your head wrapped back around those Resident Evil 1 controls, the rest is pretty natural. I do like the artstyle and it appears to be all handmade assets or very minimal use of any store bought assets. Game runs well on my potato at work and its a fun time killer in between toiling for the man... if only I had an interdimensional traveling machine... I say its worth the coin! Would like to see further support and perhaps some small additions. Always wanted a RE-Roguelite and here it is! Good job, dev!
Check my experience with this game out here! This game is very clearly inspired by classic survival horror games but it does come with a fair share of strange yet welcome RPG elements. I'm personally a sucker for Horror RPG stuff so this is up my alley. On the surface, the story and gameplay seem simple enough but there is enough depth in both that multiple playthroughs are guaranteed. You keep your level-ups and weapons between attempts but every time you complete a loop, you get less and less time to uncover the bigger mystery of the mansion so it definitely isn't as simple as it seems. There is a negative review here that doesn't recommend this game for a variety of reasons but I think they're being a little to critical of an indie game that costs $7. Keep in mind, they played for over 4 hours and then criticize its' repetitiveness. If we're talking about repetitiveness in the indie horror scene, you likely wouldn't recommend a single game. At the very least, a lot of this game is procedurally generated so memorizing new areas and finding weapons or encountering enemies you probably shouldn't have is exciting. Not to mention that the luck stat randomizes the stats of weapons so my current crowbar might be stronger or weaker than the next one I find. It's a fun feature. PROS: - The game has strong replayability and plays quickly so speedrunners will enjoy the feel very much. - The guns and combat are fair but enemies can definitely mess you up if aren't aware of your positioning or are surrounded. - Procedurally generated areas, randomized weapon stats, and RPG elements keep this game exciting throughout several playthroughs. - Graphics are great in a nostalgic way. - Sound design is very good but it can sometimes trick you because of the fixed cameras or enemies in other rooms sounding closer than they actually are. - Local Couch Co-Op exists and it seems very cool. You can likely play it online with Parsec so if you have a friend who is into classic survival, that's another reason to get this game. CONS: - The biggest issue is when the player runs into anything, they'll immediately stop and get stuck. There are also areas where it looks like the player should easily run by but they get stuck. For example, you might think you can run between a couch and a fireplace but you'll get stuck and will have to wiggle around and through it. This normally wouldn't be an issue, but when time is ticking and you have to RUN, getting stuck on a dumb pillar can be frustrating. - A lot of the notes seem random and don't really help you with anything. There are a few that hint at the bigger mystery of the mansion but if you don't know anything about it (like me) they seemed useless like every other note. - The game seems very easy, even on HARD difficulty. If you're a decent gamer or a fan of classic survival horror, I would suggest 'Very Hard' or even 'Nightmare'.
If you've played the previous game and want more of it, you'll enjoy this one. Otherwise this is a game for people in love with ps1 survival horror games. It has a randomized layout and repeating rooms, so don't expect resident evil quality, you will run into the same rooms over and over again. This game also has everything the first one has but better, so don't bother getting both unless you want to support the dev. tl;dr Buy if you enjoy this type of game, else watch a gameplay vid first.
This game bangs, always wanted a gameplay loop like this. Release Vaccine 3 and I will buy it full price :).
Its a fun game i always wanted to play a co-op old style Resident Evil game with a friend this game allows you to see what it would be like the game isn't long its randomly generated maps. I really wish it had a fully fleshed out story but its still fun to buy and play for the price.
I found this game to be extremely fun. As someone who grew up with resident evil one, a procedurally generated game in that style is an amazing concept. I haven't gotten the chance to try split screen out, but i would just like to say i can really feel the love in this game.
The Binding of Isaac, te logra entretener bastante.
