Usagi Yojimbo: Way of the Ronin is a new, old school game based on the classic Dark Horse Comic Graphic Novel by Stan Sakai, and seen in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles over the years. This is an old school, simple, fun Retro brawler done in the vein of the classic TMNT Stand Up Arcade game.

Piece of crap. The controls are awful, often the enemies vanish to the left or right border where you can't see them. But hey, sometimes / most of the time you can hit them nonetheless. Enemy AI? Which enemy AI? Just keep on button mashing, most of the time the X-button will do the job. Boring and stupid
This game could have been so much more on the PC but instread is a direct clone of the mobile version. The graphics are crisp and colourful, with well defined cel-shaded characters and backgrounds, and there is a single tune that plays throughout, although it gets grating after a while and I could not find any way to turn it off. Other characters from the Usagi Yojimbo series (such as Gennosuke and Inazuma) make cameo apperances in the game. Unfortunately, the gameplay is where this game falls flat on it's face. The game is simple hack and slash, and is far too easy. Depsite the fact that the are many different combos unlocked as the game goes on, there is no point in even using them when the whole game can be beat using the basic hack and slash moves that Usagi has at the start. There is simply no variety in the game other than kill all the baddies and move onto the next scene. If you were ever and fan of the Commodore 64 game 'Samurai Warrior: The Adventures of Usagi Yojimbo' or even just a general Miyamoto Usagi fan, steer clear of this game and just go play the C64 classic intsead.
Może jest jakiś duch przygód Usagiego w tej grze, ale zarówno graficznie jak i grywalnie nie postarano się. Mechanika walki polega głownie na machaniu cepem i trafianiu przeciwników. Szkoda. Usagi Yojimbo to bardzo dobra baza do wspaniałych opowieści, ale Way of the Ronin nie jest jedną z nich.
for its original price, its not really worth it. but when you find a good discount, go ahead. its really fun to play, i love the vibes of 2010's web games that i used to play daily. its easy, too easy at times, yeah, but its nothing bad! its good to just go through a whole game (for its really short) at one sitting, to relax and just pass time
Genre
Ein 2D Action Sidescroller mit Furys
Story
Fazit
Ein recht Netter Sidescroller 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Kuratorengruppe auf deutsch/englisch 👑⠀⠀⠀🎉 Folgen
Usagi Yojimbo: Way of the Ronin is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up along the lines of classic arcade games like Renegade. As with all such games, there are some light platforming elements (jumping over pits), but most of the gameplay is avoiding the attacks of a variety of enemies that swarm you, while simultaneously clobbering them with melee attacks. The levels are framed by a story taken from/inspired by the Stan Sakai "Usagi Yojimbo" comic book series, in which Jei is tasked by the "gods" to destroy a particular mirror, the only thing that can stop these "gods" from escaping from their imprisonment. Once the game begins, the story is told via in-game cut scenes between each level. This game was originally developed for cellphone touch screens, and then ported to this PC version. The controls using the keyboard are solid, though they can be re-mapped to other keys or you can use a video game controller if you like. But there are some artifacts that are instantly recognizable from mobile games: each level is awarded 1 - 3 stars (and a numeric tally of points) upon completion, with 3 stars being awarded only for a perfect score (killing all opponents but taking no damage). The levels end as soon as you've defeated the last enemy, which is annoying, because it means that you will usually not get all the items/coins from the level. It's single-player only and there aren't multiple save slots, so you can't easily play and compare saved games with friends or family on the same system. Despite all those drawbacks, I've enjoyed what I've played of Way of the Ronin so far, and will likely continue to play it to the end.
Clearly this probably one of the most shortest games I ever played and is that a bad thing? Not really especially if I can do it in one sitting. If you're a comic book lover, you'll like Usagi Yojimbo, or if you're into something really quick..you'll like it all the more. It has NO achievements so truly, it's nothing more than a score attack game with a good story following. I'm hoping they do make a sequel with a bit more of a challenge since this game was good but could use a bit more of a challenge, combat wise at least. Considering how cheap this game, just try for yourself. You might like it..or not, but it worth something if you need a break from long games.
