What is URO? URO is a taiko-inspired HSRG (horizontal scrolling rhythm game) that on the surface seems to be a rather average rhythm game nobody asked for. What's even more weird, we're talking about URO2, a sequel to a game very few people were aware of and those who somehow knew it was out there didn't really like it, citing its numerous bugs, errors and overall unpleasant experience. Boasting a ~mixed~ rating and less than 500 reviews, URO SOMEHOW MANAGED TO GET A SEQUEL which is like.. why? Sure, there was lots room for improvement (mostly engine-related), but instead of (at the very least) attempting to fix the original game, they went straight for the sequel and... nothing's changed, I guess? It has the exact same problems the original URO had, but with new OST + story. URO2 has three fundamental problems that cannot be overlooked: -Notes in charts aren't placed based on BPM / timing sections, it feels like they were manually placed with a mouse to be 'roughly on time' with music which is the most amateur and unacceptable approach to a rhythm game -Audio balance is all over the place in URO2, some tracks are quiet, others are obnoxiously loud -Performance issues, the game struggles to keep consistent framerate / frametime on higher difficulties and often has microstutters; it almost feels like the engine is not suited for a rhythm game at all It also has some 'I wish I could call them minor problems but they are pretty annoying': -Free Play isn't 'Free Play', you have no other option but to play Story Mode to grind 'local currency.value' to unlock tracks since you start with 0 currency and 0 tracks unlocked -English translation is the definition of the early years of Google Translate ♥♥♥->ENG, it is SO bad you can barely understand what the developer is trying to say -The game has practically no options: no offset, no skin customization, no play options -There's no punishment for pressing Red + Blue buttons at the same time (which allows you to press Red, Blue and White (Blue + Red at the same time) notes by repeatedly pressing Red + Blue on time which makes lower difficulties a breeze and somewhat pointless) HOWEVER, what it DOES have is a really good OST. If you're familiar with BMS (not the mainstream stuff that's been licensed to numerous games but beginnercore and indie composers), you're gonna enjoy it. CYLTIE., Reku Mochizuku, MYUKKE, Eraser (YES, THE VERY GUY WHO WOULD LATER WRITE WRITE ONE OF THE WORST BMS TRACKS EVER - GEHENNA) - it has the good and the bad. BMS the experince. Besides, the game has decent artstyle. I genuinely like how it looks. Verdict: Eh? I know it's a tough sell but if you're feeling a little extra 'playful' and want some VSRG/HSRG cringe for dirt cheap - you're welcome, there's nothing quite like URO, a fine line between inspiration and genuine effort and amateurishly poor execution.
Cute MC and nice songs, I like it
thumbs up emoji its cool
