✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
8/10 StarCats recommend this game.
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ ☑️Challenging & Nostalgic (Star Fox 64/Assault) ☑️MiniGames (Few as they may be) ☑️The overall concept is solid. ☑️The rogue like chip upgrades make you think. I really like the concept here. It really makes me smile and happy to play something that gave me enjoyment in my childhood, even if it's mostly nostalgia glasses, I think the future sequel will be better if not amazing. ❌The visuals overlap (too many styles, not consistent) ❌Perma death is really exhausting. ❌The lack of upgrade / trade in chips, etc. While the CGI is questionable to most, the Pixel Art + 16Bit Art is really superb, I'd like something more casual and relaxing, while still being challenging, while also being able to sell or trade in two chips for one random one as to make each run more "controllable".
My personal opinion?
It's cheap. It's fun, it's got it's problems, but that's due to it being a game made by one developer. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket and you love classic games or games made based off of said classic games, give it a try. It's really good and you shouldn't judge it by it's visual appearance.
What a cool idea. Love that they are furries.
Fun little game, fun gameplay. I don't have many hours clocked in it but that doesn't mean it's not a good game. It's just one of those games that I really have to be in the mood to play. Despite that I'd still recommend it especially since it's just a $5 game, there's definitely more than $5 worth of content in it though.
Star Fox Roguelike Shooter is cool game Shoutout to Randy Becker
I like the concept of the game. I said I'd play a little bit, but once I checked, I played for 1 hour.
A pretty nice game, but a little too lacking in content for me. The upgrade system is interesting but doesn't really make much sense to me balance wise (You get way more credits than you need to fill up your board, and at a certain point you can just rush bosses.) Additionally, i'm not sure if this was a glitch, but after beating the game in the bad ending initially and then going back and doing the good ending, there was no end-of-run screen or anything. A shame, i think something as simple as that could do a lot to extend playtime, going for higher scores and all. As it stands, all beating the game does is send you back to the title screen without any real feedback. (No achievements either, in-game or otherwise. Theres a few unlocks but its just some minor cosmetic stuff and I had all of them by the end of my initial run.). And the RTS stuff doesn't really seem to add a lot to the gameplay either. I recognize it's a homage to the likes of Starfox 2 and UN Squadron, but in starfox 2's case, the ranking system made it greatly replayable even if it's somewhat easy, and in UN Squadron's case, all the stages were super difficult but predetermined, so you could route out your run on repeat playthroughs based on which ones are easier for you to memorize, and use the money from them to help with ones that are harder for you. In this game though, all the missions feel pretty samey. When I first went into this game, I expected it to be more like Wild Guns on SNES where there aren't many missions but each of them are unique and provide plenty of opportunity for memorization on replays. The RNG enemy spawns make it feel partially like a survivors-like except without the massive ball-out-of-control balancing that makes those games fun. Wanted to like this game more, and I wanna support the devs which is why this is a positive review, but overall I wish it could be better, Maybe some kind of arcade mode would do a lot for this game. A mode where you take out a specific series of waves and then get to upgrade your chips, and then advance to the next planet without the RTS stuff. The sequel looks very interesting though, for sure buying that one. I look forward to what these devs will do in the future.
Found this after enjoying the upcoming game of the Unit Down Charged Demo. Very addicting gameplay, managed to beat Normal Difficulty once after many trials and errors. Attempted higher difficulties, only to fail many, many times at the end. I would highly recommend this to those who enjoy something close to bullet hells, and arcade shooters.
Fun Arcade Shooter. Great for parties, drinking games or blowing off steam with a Laser Gun. Plenty of replayablility and decent progress system. Worth the price of a Happy Meal!
This game is more like a test of endurance, because the bosses near the end are bullet sponges where you have little room for error or else you're back at the beginning of the game. Maybe also a test of patience if you lose a lot which was the case for me. +I like the retro and odd look of the characters, it does give a charm to this game which is why I gave this game a chance and I did have my fun with it.
Not my biggest cup of tea. But I really appreciate the Star Fox 2 inspired gameplay. Objectively a good game. I like how one can play at their own pace, and the credit system making it a good replay value. Would definitely recommend it if you liked Star Fox 2!
