The game had potential, but unfortunately its developers decided to stop developing it. I hope a compromise will be reached regarding its refund. Because I would naturally prefer a refund than to play an unfinished game that has stopped development.
i wish i could give it a better review but with the studio no longer supporting the game i cannot. it was a fun game. i had issue with it crashing so instead of filing for a refund right away i wanted to wait for some patches. by the time the patches came out it was to late to return it. it plays better but still has issues. steam will not give a refund even tho the game is shutting down and thats a shame.

Despite that the company is still brazenly selling this game as "Early Access" for $34.99, it is officially abandonware: One more patch then the company is dropping the project and laying off programmers. Don't buy. Don't let Spearhead Games steal your money as they did mine. It's too late for me to refund this game, but it's not too late for you to avoid throwing $35 away. UPDATE: The developer has updated the store page with a disclaimer and a lowered price. Though I think the disclaimer should appear in bold-faced letters and be more prominent, it does more honestly disclose the state of the game. However, the new information does rankle me as the developer apparently admits that it lost its main source of funding BEFORE putting the game up for Early Access. For me, EA is for games that the developer reasonably believes at the time that it can actually finish. It is not for games that the developer knows the entire project is unfunded and at risk. UPDATE: Despite the developer's claims of coming to an agreement with Steam to accept refunds, Steam still denies me a refund. Thanks for nothing.
UPDATE: After many supposed attempts at the dev talking to Steam I have not been able to refund this game nor has anyone on the forums I have seen so far, some of them going so far as to say the refund was a scam until it got delisted from steam. I agree. Give us our money back. After giving this $35 game a shot, knowing it was rough around the edges, perhaps with the high entry fee it'd become something amazing, no. After the next EDIT: HOTFIX the 7th one they're halting all further development on this game and not mentioning compensation other than owning an unfinished game it's almost stealing. You could have your game back if steam had context sensitive refunds. Don't start something you aren't going to finish how do you not know your overly expensive niche genre game isn't going to be mostly funded by a small audience, especially in early access. Crying shame, I'm glad the people that put the groundwork in at Spearhead that didn't know they'd be losing a job are going to be taken care of, that's the only sympathy shown in the gutting of this project. Obscurity is too good of a word to describe what this mess is going to become, at least most obscure games are somewhat finished. Hopefully you haven't scared away greedy companies from trying this genre, this idea and world. It's a shame we'll never know what this could have been. TL;DR EDIT: HOTFIX 7 is the last one you'll never have new content for this heft priced title, discount it and put a warning on the store page before someone hits your bankrupt company with legal action. What you see is NOT what you get here.
Really liked Spearheads previous games. Sad to see them shut down so shortly after releasing this into Early Access letting everyone who bought it sitting with nothing. R.I.P Spearhead Do not Buy!
Developers lied about working with Steam. My refund requests have been denied. Don’t bother getting devs are snakes.
Not much you can say about a game abandoned by the company after it fires a majority of its dev team. Except maybe Valve should do better due diligence in inspecting if a dev could be able to ever "finish" a game.
ceased production
Absolutely gutted and angry at how this has panned out. Game had potential and I wish I'd never paid for the damage thing as studio decides to close down. Lesson learned, don't buy early access!
Played few hours (mostly offline) and I think I can say that it's a fun and great and promising CRPG with good potential, awesome combat and a persuasion system pretty unique full of possiblity and really interesting ! But for the moment work and also optimization are needed, because like a lot of EA at their release Unforetold can be a little rough at time and you can expect bugs PS : save often ! PS² : Spellslinger + Arcane Sniper character is really fun !
