I originally played the mobile game, then decided that I needed to play the pc version due to the controls being a bit difficult to handle. I'll be blunt, the game is amazing. The artwork is wonderful, the difficulty is insanely high, the grind is non-existent and each run feels like you accomplished something. The weapons are balanced, no build feels too overtuned, the enemy variety not just between levels but in a single stage is astonishingly high from a one man indie dev team, and while I haven't had the oppurtunity to try the challenge modes, it looks like its going to be fun! I Don't usually leave reviews, you can probably tell from my spelling, but when I checked the reviews I saw a few from people who played .2 hours, called it trash and claimed the reviews were paid for. So, here I am giving it my rating. By the way, does this game have a discord server? I checked the website and couldn't find one.
Menu navigation really needs some love, controller support is good for the gameplay but TERRIBLE on navigating the game. Cursor mouse as the left stick is slow AF and i just use my mouse instead which defeats the purpose, especially since i don't know how updating the drag speed would affect my cursor movement and i'm just getting used to this so I'm not messing with that for the moment. Try it for free on mobile if this looks like the type of game you'd like, but I've invested my money in order to show the dev some love and to see how deep this rabbit hole will go. Pros: time-sink/enjoyable. can't wait to build more random blade units to protect the kingdom (i really am not following this game for it's lore) Cons: bad menu design, needs better UI with controller/in general.

What I like about this game is that it's the natural evolution of V Survivor style games, and not in a "let's go nuts on MTX" sort of way. It's an evolution of gameplay that actually offers the player interesting choices. The enemies are varied, with interesting and unique attack patterns, the terrain is destructible, the player has a variety of attacks and I can tell that there are some excellent synergies from the skills available. Make no mistake, this is MUCH harder than Vampire Survivors. I love Vampire Survivors, but 90% of the enemies are just there to run into your bullets (not that there's anything wrong with that). In this game, I find myself getting rather cagey about the enemies that spawn, trying to deduce the best way to approach and defeat the enemy while dodging several hundred other enemies. It's a welcome addition to the genre and a good direction for the genre to evolve. I'm looking forward to its continued development.
Great game, awesome dev!
Been playing games from Kyle Barrett for a while now, and nice to see him make his way to Steam. Ultra Blade is a stylish as hell pixel game with simple controls yet complex combat. A fun take on the Vampire Survivors genre, the game oozes with its synthwave music, style, and sounds. So far, I'm really finding it to be deeper than I thought at the start, and it's a really enjoyable game that I can see myself spending a lot of time in over the coming weeks.
Fun game, and I love the art style!
Ultra Blade is similar to Immortal in it's movement system but the endless possibilities of unique blades you can acquire is what really sets this game apart from other survival games. The game keeps you fighting off endless hordes of enemies, and unlocking new blades (builds) with new abilities that can later be combined with other builds through in game skill system. I've purchased all of Barrett's games and must admit that this one has hooked me the longest, I've barely scratched the surface of this game since I haven't unlocked all the worlds there are but it is definitely challenging and will keep you coming back for more. The current PC controls definitely need some tweaking compared to the mobile version but I'm sure he'll adjust the controls for a more smooth experience. My rating is 8/10 until the controls are smoothed out.
Addictive and challenging! Can't wait to unlock more things and uncover all the mechanics this game has to offer.
really enjoyable little game, with some early access hiccups with controls that were remedied in a patch, i did lose my progress 4 hours in prior to the patch, which is certainly a bummer. the game is FUN, and with the patch update controls are much smoother and intuitive with this genre. excited to see what else is in store.
I just bought it today and well, took me not long to understand teh core stuff in it. Yes, it is a bit clunky so far, very often i stuck/run/hang i nthe envoirement. But. it is a lot of fun, quite unique and imo has potential. The movementsystem well, its intersting. Needs some miutes to get used to .But its so much fun for me, especially with the melee heroes. It is possible to aim/plan attack/movement. Just be a bit faster with it, that you good to go. :D
