Steam only recognised my last couple of play sessions. I’ve spent at least 8 hours playing Uberlaufer. And it’s great. It has an addictive gameplay loop that’s reminiscent of games of old, which makes it easy to lose track of time. The atmosphere is superb. The mechanics are solid for an indy title in early access. The enemy AI is surprisingly good, although a little unforgiving at times. It would be nice to peek around a corner and not be spotted immediately. But all in all, this is a gem of a VR experience that it's easy to sink hours and hours into.

Essendo un rogue like, cambia a ogni nuova partita. ========================== The strong point of this game is obviously longevity. Being a rogue like, it changes with each new game. The layout of the map, the objectives, the location of objects, the enemies you encounter - everything changes every time you die and start over. The general objective is to escape from the prison but in the meantime you will have to try to complete as many secondary objectives as possible, such as finding intelligence documents or special items. Inventory management is very simple: the weapon must be placed on the right shoulder but you have to do a little practice to understand well how to store it and take it back from the holster, otherwise you risk losing it on the street. The other objects, on the other hand, must be placed behind the left shoulder. Initially you only have a single-magazine pistol but along the way you can kill enemy soldiers and rummage through their bodies, finding, among the various objects, also full magazines. Other ammunition, weapons and other items can be unlocked by purchasing them at a counter at the beginning of each new game and with the latest update an adventure companion has also been added: a dog, which follows you and barks to alert you to its presence. of enemies nearby. The AI of the enemies is basic: they see you, they shoot you, they are impaled in place to be shot easily. Only on a few occasions have I seen them advance towards me trying to cut corners trying to hide behind the wall. The setting is another strong point of Uberlaufer, which is very reminiscent of Return to Castel Wolfenstein, not only because it is set in Germany in the 40s, but as a style of play it closely follows the sensations experienced by playing Wolfenstein 3D or Castel Wolfenstein. It is not a horror but it manages to keep you constantly in suspense and sometimes even shivers. Sore spot of this game: the graphics. Despite being a recently released PC game, the graphics are very rough and poorly defined, it is a bath of pixels and low quality textures, it tries to hide everything with a darkness that cuts the view a few meters away, but the models of enemy soldiers, weapons, various objects found in the world, furnishings, walls, in short, everything around you is visually of low quality. On the other hand, it is very fluid and even on older VR Ready video cards it would be able to run smoothly even at high details. It is not a game to have at all costs but if you like the rogue like genre, Uberlaufer, with its originality and particular setting, is a title that can give you several hours of fun in an always different way with each new game.
At the time of writing this review, I've been playing this game for 20 hours already. To say that I like it would be an understatement. The always different dungeons, VR controller integration and also the selected music. Everything feels well thought out, polished and created with great attention to detail. I'll keep playing it and it's worth every minute to me. At this point I can't really criticize anything, but I would like additional things to be unlocked after X successful runs. Dev, keep up the great work!
This game is actually pretty good, though is isn't really friendly to new players of the game it's still pretty fun regardless. All it takes is practice to really appreciate the game.
Good Game
What hidden gem !
Super fun game I've gotten out 3 times. Latest time, and my latest run, it took 47 minutes, and I managed to lose my gun at some point. So I had to bonk everyone, even the SS. It was still very fun to do that. The devs are great, I got helped instantly to resolve my crashing issue when launching the game. I highly recommend this game if you like somewhat difficult Roguelike dungeon escape games.
No real game breaking bugs but still work to be done. There needs to be a map build into the wrist as a quick look at where the player needs to be as the areas can be very samey and easy to get off track. The current inventory design (turn left wrist upwards) is a little clunky & can be improved by incorporating an old styled wrist watch that the player presses to bring up their inventory. Would still like to see a stealth crouch option so when crouched, the players visibility & step sounds are reduced by say 30%, thus providing a higher chance of sneaking up on the enemy soldiers within being seen or heard. Lastly, I am concerned that there is a rinse & repeat process for the entire game. If the game just consists of changing dungeons & samey soldier models then this may impede on game sales because the game won't provide fresh level designs or even replay-ability for the consumer. The Dev is active in updating their game which is a must for the success of their title. My gameplay video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTVLZ3iBkFA&t=475s
