If you want to try a new VR game, I definitely recommend this one. It is very unique, unlike any VR game I have played before. It might have some bugs, but keep in mind the game is in Early Access. It is still definitely worth the price tag and I will be playing this game a lot.
only the most basic of Wolfenstein lite clones. 18.99 is a crazy price to ask for this minigame.
Juegazo !!!!
Good Bones First Impressions: Looks good, plays well, but looking forward to new features, as passing through walls not just going in to hide, more stealth options, AI adjustments, more variations in environment
A very solid, well done dungeon-crawler. I've played a fair bit by now and that was enough to learn enough to get my first escape under my belt. The game does really well at feeling like an old dungeon-crawl, but with a covert twist. The game also makes great use of VR hardware without making your computer explode. There's enough in the game when you first start that you have plenty to learn about and experiment with, without making the game feel unknowable or inaccessible. As you escape more, the game will offer you new tools and new challenges. The game is also clear about what you will unlock at what milestones, making it fun to tick towards new things. The objectives system isn't overwhelming, with only two extra tasks to complete. They're simple, such as retrieving a certain semi-plentiful item or taking a picture of something special. Still, it drives me into the dark to challenge me to find what I need before I fall to attrition or get overwhelmed by guards. Very solid game, I love the atmosphere, I love the historical presentation and the information I can find and learn about, and I love the pace. Very good VR experience, would absolutely reccomend.
I absolutely loved this game for the time I've played it, but this recent post in the Discord server by the dev doesn't give me the best hope for the future of this game: "Sorry about the radio silence. There have been a number for things that caused me to step away from the game and the chat for a while. I had some health issues which were causing problems for me (constant lethargy) but things are much better on that front. My real job has taken up more of my time due to a number of factors and always has to take precedence sadly. I received a couple of scary messages from someone who apparently has an issue with anti-nazi games. That was a little scary and was why I blocked on Facebook. That was a couple of months ago, so I’m hoping they have moved on to terrorize someone else 😦 This is why I stopped posting for a while. I blocked and reported them and haven't heard anything since. A larger company in Japan did attempt to buy the rights to the game from me. I considered this for a bit but their terms and offer did not leave me with a good feeling, so that won’t be happening. On top of all that, Unity has made some changes to their pricing model forcing me to make some decisions on which plan to choose. As this is a niche game and more of a personal fun project, I need to make the most cost-effective decision. I think my plan is to continue with PLUS for another year. The game is running on a new Unity engine but has lots of bugs to sort out. I am working on it when I have time but not ready to commit to any timelines. I’ll post when I am a little more certain." -yarsrvenge I really hope they don't abandon this awesome game.... I'll continue to monitor the game and update my review if things start looking up. TLDR: very fun as is, but might be abandoned.
Game
I tried this game back when I bought it and immediately gave up and put it on the back burner. I decided to give it another go and after I got the hang of things it was incredible. The more I played the better and farther I got. It has a great atmosphere where the settings and sounds give you that immersed feeling that makes VR shine, especially being able to make noise to draw your enemies closer for an ambush. I felt the graphics were spot on and the fact that the dungeon changes every time keeps the game fresh. I played using an Index and did not run into any performance issues. I did have a minor issue with how the gun is handled as it felt a little off, but not enough to truly bother me.
Steam only recognised my last couple of play sessions. I’ve spent at least 8 hours playing Uberlaufer. And it’s great. It has an addictive gameplay loop that’s reminiscent of games of old, which makes it easy to lose track of time. The atmosphere is superb. The mechanics are solid for an indy title in early access. The enemy AI is surprisingly good, although a little unforgiving at times. It would be nice to peek around a corner and not be spotted immediately. But all in all, this is a gem of a VR experience that it's easy to sink hours and hours into.
