This is NOT a model train simulator. It is maybe a light version of a train simulator.
Just a rehash of the previous Trainz Model edition. I haven't seen any developers road map on what they plan to do with the steam release. They could of at least included the new surveyor 2.0 tools along with HD terrain editing. You can only use the rulers to show the different scales on the basemaps, all the Assets are still in Real scale. This is not a new "Modelers" version of Trainz. The full Trainz plus tools are great but not for the feint of heart. I was hoping for a new version that let's the Modelers out there enjoy the experience of a great simulation. the content is reduced to more of the assets used on the Model Train layouts, but nothing new so far. At this stage of development, a disappointing release.
can you add the interactive industry's like the ones from TRS2009 please it is laggy no interactive industries like the one i had TRS2009 waste of my money this company i think ill leave do better Stick to Derail Valley N3V is like dovetail games with their trainsimworld i been playing since 2004 i quit Do better
A good product for those who enjoy the Trainz series and like the Model Train aspect being more of the primary focus. It does however, still have its flaws and performance issues that the Regular Trainz 2022 Edition seems to have. I'd honestly recommend getting this product on sale if possible. Everything is a little more watered down and basic in this one when compared to the original version that has more features and content included with it.
The game is nice, i got it today, and id say its a good game, i dont really think its worth like 39 euros, maybe less, but overall, i think its just a "lite" version on TRS22, cause you have 2 tutorials (one for easy mode and one for realistic mode), you dont have kickstarter country 2 (witch surprised me), and dont have Surveyor 2.0, and no DLCs (you do have download station though), maybe make the game cheaper like 29 euros, cause it doesnt have all the stuff that TRS22 has... but still... a good game
TRS22 Model Railroaders Edition is a deep, creation-driven simulation that leans heavily into the spirit of physical model railroading while removing the usual constraints of cost, space, and materials. Developed and published by N3V Games, this edition is less about traditional “train driving” and more about handing players a fully digital workshop where entire miniature worlds can be imagined, built, and operated. From the moment you enter Surveyor mode, it becomes clear that this release is designed for hobbyists who value the creative act of laying track, sculpting terrain, placing structures, and orchestrating operations across custom-built environments. The package comes with several curated layouts intended to showcase the strengths of the system, but the real heart of the experience lies in the freedom to build your own routes from scratch. The Surveyor Classic tools offer an enormous degree of control, allowing the shaping of landscapes down to fine details, and letting you experiment with track geometry, yard designs, industrial setups, and scenic compositions limited only by your imagination. The Model Railroaders Edition leans hard into this creative sandbox identity, encouraging experimentation rather than strict adherence to realism—though it also supports precise, prototypical design for players who prefer authenticity. Everything from tiny switching puzzles to sprawling freight networks can be created within the same flexible toolkit. One of the major draws of this edition is its access to the massive Trainz Download Station, which contains a staggering collection of locomotives, rolling stock, structures, scenery items, track types, and community-made layouts. This reservoir of free content dramatically expands what you can build, and for long-time fans of the franchise it remains one of its defining advantages. Browsing and assembling assets becomes part of the creative ritual, and the community-driven nature of the library gives the game a sense of shared craft. Combined with the improved TRS22 rendering features—PBR track materials, enhanced lighting, better terrain texturing, and seasonal effects—the layouts can achieve a level of detail that evokes the visual charm of a meticulously constructed model railroad. As with many titles in the Trainz lineage, the driving and operations component complements the building tools rather than dominating them. You can operate trains manually or configure AI schedules that move freight and passenger services around your layout. It adds a satisfying layer of functionality to what you’ve built, allowing you to see your miniature world come alive through switching maneuvers, industry interactions, and traffic patterns. Yet the operations are generally more relaxed than strict simulator-style physics-heavy driving games. Here, the appeal lies in watching your system work as intended—trains running through towns and over bridges you designed, industries being served according to your layout’s logic. While the edition is robust in terms of creative potential, it also carries some limitations. Newcomers may find the learning curve unexpectedly steep, as the interface—while powerful—feels old-fashioned and requires patience to fully understand. The included routes, though varied, are limited in number, which means much of the long-term enjoyment depends on either creating your own content or downloading community additions. Players coming from earlier versions of Trainz may also feel that the upgrades, though present, are evolutionary rather than transformative, leading to some debate about value. Technical performance can vary based on the complexity of a layout, and the game still bears some of the quirks that have followed the series for years. Despite these caveats, TRS22 Model Railroaders Edition excels at what it sets out to do: provide a rich, open-ended environment where model railroad enthusiasts can build, refine, and operate their dream layouts without physical limitations. It is less of a conventional “game” and more of a long-form creative hobby you interact with over weeks or months. For players who find satisfaction in planning yards, perfecting scenery, or watching trains snake through handcrafted landscapes, this edition offers nearly endless potential. Those seeking a more guided or plug-and-play experience may find it overwhelming, but for dedicated hobbyists, it is a comprehensive and rewarding digital modeling toolkit. Rating: 6/10
Very very good and many things are new and you'll enjoy playing, trust me this game worth playing and we need more DLC's and wait for that. Try it and you will change your mind.
I wanted to like TRS22 MRE. However, while this simulator has some admirable qualities, its fatal flaws tip the scale heavily away from a recommendation. The user interface and navigation controls are amateurish and not aligned with norms adopted by higher quality software. Building a route, even a simple one, is a frustrating endeavor -- and it really shouldn't be. The math behind optimizing track layout should be straightforward, but without that help the user is left to infinite tweaking, where one adjustment usually affects others. Maybe Surveyor 2.0 solves some of these problems, but N3V didn't package it with MRE, so I don't know. This said, driving a train on a prepared route is fun, and operation is realistic. There is a lot of downloadable content, much for free. There's a lot N3V got right, but their misses drove me to uninstall the software.
