Experienced on the Oculus Quest 2
You can view my initial impressions review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/nPtH_7zZqwE So this is not really free. If I understand correctly, you can play this one time for free. If you want unlimited, full access then you will need to pay $3 USD with an in-app purchase. I thought it was worth the $3 USD I paid, but it's definitely not for everyone as there is no real game here. This is basically an app that let's you ad-lib with NPCs. They will respond to your voice dialogue. They don't always respond appropriately though. However, the NPCs will have their own topics and you can chime in and sometimes they'll keep a conversation going and it'll be interesting. Then there are other times when the NPCs will be lost or the program itself will show an error. The visuals aren't very good, nor is the music. However, you're here for the conversation. There's some pre-made scenarios and depending on the NPCs, they will have different topics in mind. I thought it worked okay, not great. As long as you have low expectation, you'll be pleasantly surprised with the conversation. Rate 6/10.
If you enjoyed my review, please consider joining my Steam Curator Group. I'll be completely honest here. I think the game itself has a cool concept.. allowing the player to interject in AI-powered NPC conversations. However, I had a lot of confusion and issues on my first launch. To begin, when I loaded up the game, my player just starting moving until I fell off the world (cube). I have no stick drift and I wasn't pressing any movement direction. If this was an intended behavior, I recommend that you remove it because it causes motion sickness and doesn't really make any sense (I guess it's 'trippy', but there are far better ways to display that). Next, there are virtually no settings at all besides graphical fidelity (which you have no idea what it actually is changing, this should be fine-tuned down the road so not a big deal), audio muting (there should be a volume slider also), and that's it. From what I saw, there's no in-game menu options for setting the player height, setting the movement type to locomotion/teleport/etc. (I personally *hate* the movement in this game and other games that use it, and I will swear only by smooth motion and occasionally teleporting). No turning options at all so you only can face one direction unless you turn your head and body. Following that, it seems to take a very long time for the cloud instances to spin up. I can understand that a free game like this can't afford to dump tons of money into making that better, but I just wanted to mention it took what felt like 3-5 minutes sometimes to load up an instance. Again, I get it, not a big deal, just a bit annoying. But as for the actual game.. I have no idea what I experienced. I tried talking to the NPCs and they responded, much like those online chat AI bots do, but.. that was it. No real content, couldn't give commands or do anything other than converse with them. And even if you are fine with just chatting, there's nothing really to say. It doesn't seem like there's anything particularly interesting about their canned dialog, and nothing has any impact on anything. So to summarize, give it a shot because it's free.. But to the dev, I hope to see you build more on this. It could be really cool. I would love to see a game like this where you could play as a "God" and give commands that actually led the NPCs to do things.. like in the Gladiator scene, I wanted to tell them to fight eachother but they were like "ok" and just stood there, or just said "nah" while having a battle-ready pose. At the very least, please work on your settings because VR settings really should be standardized across games and platforms to avoid motion sickness and general user discomfort. I know it's not easy, I am a dev myself, but I believe it will make so much more of a difference even if the gameplay itself doesn't change much.
Cleverbot vs Cleverbot in VR with really basic art assets and minimal to no action. It's a cool concept, especially with voice recognition and AI but the AI doesn't go far before it devolves into a dialog loop or else it goes completely off-script and wanders with no real destination. It's not even good as a chatbot. I've had more complete conversations with the actual "cleverbot" and I have seen some AI demonstrations that really looked cool, but you get none of that here. This has some potential to be cool but it's squandered on crappy art assets, and pointless AI. If you could direct the "Story" it might be cool but everything you say throws the computer off on a tangent and so it seems really scatterbrained. It's free, although they want money for the "full version" which I hear is only $3, but $3 is still asking a lot at this point considering what they give you. If they keep working on this and make it into some kind of cool interactive story generator, then it might be worth the money. Right now, save your money and go talk to cleverbot.
Really interesting little game, had some fun little conversations with some little dudes until I got threatened by their intelligence and ran away.
TripSync is a free to play VR experience where you are talking to NPC and they respond with different dialog. It worked on my HTC Vive system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. Has Six environments to try for free. The graphics are very simple. You are looking over the tabletop with stick figure NPCs. You have a lobby where you grab a game cartridge and plug it into the socket then press play. I was Not sure what to say, not sure if voice reading worked when i tried this first. Has an In-app purchase of 3 dollars for unlimited play. Maybe try this for free, but not sure who would like this program.
Very poggers vr game for the 2021

As far as I can tell the actors don't actually do anything, which kinda defeats the purpose of playing this as a video game, let alone in VR. Love the idea, but needs a goal or purpose to be anything more than "haha, look at the silly chatbot."
would love to play the game with how interesting it looks but it wont let me past the title screen because i cant click anything with my controller. anyone who can help please reply to this and tell me what might be wrong because hey, it could be a user error of some sort but i dont think it is i tried not only the left trigger but every button on the controller. thumbs down for now
